West Ham United vs Manchester United [30/Nov/2010]

Game on

West Ham United's clash with Manchester United remains scheduled for this evening, despite the inclement weather conditions.

According to the club, the Carling Cup quarter final clash remains on despite worsening weather conditions that have seen the South East of England coated with a layer of snow overnight.

Ticket office staff were briefed at 9am this morning to inform supporters that the game is set to go ahead as scheduled, although that is still subject to change throughout the day.

The most recent first team fixture to be postponed as a result of adverse weather conditions was last January's Premier League clash with Wolves.

That particular fixture was cancelled due to 'health and safety concerns', despite the streets around the Boleyn Ground being almost entirely free of snow by the time the game was due to start.

Will the final decision on this not be made by the police. They will decide on public saftey in regards roads/paths/trains ect rather than West Ham.

FFS. when will we know for sure if it's on?

Don't expect thatgreat an atmosphere; this isn't a crunch away although some of our hardcore will make the trip

It's sold out so it shouldn't be that bad either.

Still on for the moment, as far as I can tell. Though if you're using C2C trainline to get there, all trains still seem to be either cancelled or about an hour behind schedule.

No idea what it's like just up the road in East London btw, but there's still tons of snow coming down here. Not seen anything like it since I was about six!

This game may go ahead but I very much doubt the one at Blackpool will at the weekend. They don't have undersoil heating; the pitch will be fecked.

The pitch shouldn't be a problem for this 1. Absolutely no chance of the Blackpool game going ahead though.

It really should be Premier League rules to have under soil heating. It's unacceptable to have games called of for a poor pitch in what is supposed to be one of the best leagues in the World.

If Blackpool is to be called off then ideally it would be done days early so United could take the players off for some warm weather training instead. The weathers going to be crap until next week.

Of course it probably won't happen until the morning of the game.

I appreciate the logistics of a swap aren't simple but surely something could be sorted out?

Dunno mate, you'd hope something could be sorted but I don't think there's a simple solution.

Come to think of it, would Blackpool's ST holder's fill our away stand?!

Really looking forward to this one, hope it's not canceled! It was so disappointing when that happened with the City match last season :(

the pitch is never the problem , the conditions around the ground are , I am sure at the end of the day it is down to to the Police to say if the game goes ahead.
If the roads and pavements are not gritted and icy they will call it off.

Four hours till KO, they'd have announced it as postponed by now if they were going to for this reason, wouldn't they? I'm supposed to be knocking off work early for the game tonight; not gonna be able to if it's called off. I fecking hate the snow.

Anyone have 2 tickets they want to sell me? I am London based.

Else, how likely is it that I'll get 2 from touts outside? Whats the best time to meet a tout?!
