Newcastle fleece Liverpool for Carroll

That puts him into the top 5 most expensive transfers ever, right?

Aguero for 40million, 35 million for Carroll

No, Crespo, Figo, Zidane, Kaka and Ronaldo have all gone for more, the move it probably contingent on Torres going for more, and Ibrahimovic went for about £40m + Eto'o.

Bargain.

fecking hell....

Do the americans realise we're not talking Dollars here?

One of the craziest transfers ever!

Hmmm.... Liverpool spending more on a single player than we ever have eh? Surely not.

It's a new policy, instead of paying 35 million for 5 crap players, they spend it all on one unproven player.

The Guardian and Telegraph are both reporting that Liverpool have met Newcastle's valuation for striker Andy Carroll.

BBC

 British players are unbelievably overpriced. Carroll is young and has a lot of potential but he's worth much less than that. Liverpool must be really desperate to make up for losing Torres.

karlsentk west ham were offered andy carroll for £1 million in the summer of 2009, but steve clarke didn't rate him (from dead cert source)

I still can't believe the price

re: Carroll 35 million?

We have been well and truly had.

Fall through for the love of God fall through.

Good player but again that is just pissing money away.

Even the scousers can see what a terrible joke of a transfer this is.

The funny thing is that if Hodgson managed to replace Fernando Torres with Andy Carroll and make about ten million profit there would have been protests all around Liverpool and he would have probably had death threats. 'King Kenny' does it and they still think we're all afraid of them and their inevitable rise.

Give the man a lifetime contract I say..

Holy shit. Guess the scousers can't complain about not spending money anymore.

in fairness, it's not like it's costing the owners anything to spend 35m on Carroll when you just sold Torres for 50m.

Let's not stop the craziness with Carroll though. I'm sure there must be a wide player out there we can bring in too by paying vastly over the odds.

Suarez, Carroll, Adam + wide player would actually leave me a bit excited even with the loss of Torres. Damn the fees.

I now know what it's like to be a city or Chelsea fan. This is fun.

It's a good job that no one gives a feck about Steve Clarke's opinion.

I still cant believe that Newcastle rejected 30m, then had the audacity to ask for 35m, which Liverpool has now matched. The whole things insane.

I wonder if they could have got them to go upto 40m

I would laugh at this. But given the situation, I'm not complaining of your predicament.:D

Big Sam has been saying that for years!!!

No wonder he went for the likes of Hierro & Okocha on short term deals.

"Steve, you know that player you didn't rate. Do you think you can improve him with your coaching skills?"

"Why?"

"Well, we've just signed him for £35m"

"f*ck!"
