Schalke vs Manchester United

Can't see us going with a 4-4-2 away from home in Europe like many are suggesting here. The midfield will consist of: nani, Valencia, carrick, park and giggs or scholes with Rooney up top on his own and Hernandez available as an impact sub around 65-70 minutes.

Cool pic...all the players in that pic to start?

Fergie and Rooney in stunning bust up as Fergie...rubs Rooney's head with venom.

If SAF has forgiven him, who the feck am I to hold a grudge
Or it could be Fergie trying to get a sleeper hold on him

I'd seriously like to see Owen start tomorrow

should be enough

Are you feckin nuts? This is the European Cup Semi Final!!!!!

VDS; O'Shea, Rio, Vidic, Evra; Valencia, Carrick, Giggs, Nani; Park; Rooney.

Can't decide actually. I think Rooney will be up top on his own, that will be the back 5.

Carrick is a definite, Giggs and Park are almost definite.

Could have Park off Rooney with Giggs partnering Carrick, or Park left and Giggs off Rooney. If the former then both Nani and Valencia will play, if the latter then just one of them two (I'd guess Nani, but could be either) and most likely Scholes partnering Carrick.

2-1 United, but I'd take a score draw.

How can a man maintain his thigh muscles well into his 60 and 70s? Or no one can fight atrophy? Just popped into my head after seeing SAF. It looks so much like my Grandad's

So do I but I don't think he will. If he does then I'd expect Valencia or Park in front of him. How tall is the Shalke team do you know? Might factor into SAF's thinking if we need JO'S for set pieces.

I think half the likely starting XI is over 183cm.

The former international goalkeeper played 2003-2008 for five years at Arsenal . In April 2011 he gave a surprise comeback for the Gunners, now comes to 148 Premier League games.

Lehmann: "Even if Manchester has better single player, I look at Schalke physical benefits. If Raúl , Edu or go on the defensive Farfan has Man Utd and weaknesses. "

What Rafael has that O'shea and Brown dont is speed. Brown is faster than O'shea, but Rafael beat them both hands down. Are the Shalke wingers quick?

Shalke are quick and fit all round so it's a question of going with a tried and trusted defender in JOS who at least has experience or take a chance with an attacking option. I have a feeling it will be JOS, for one I can't see Rafael being risked due to his recent knock...not away anyway but he may play in the home leg.

We have experience of away games of this stature now.We need to be cautious but not fearful.Shalke have to make the play at home not us

I'm very excited about this one. Quite confident we will win, but i I am afraid they will do the 2002 Bayer . This feeling is actually killing me. So i hope we will keep it nice and calm until 65th minute mark and then unleash the Kraken I mean Hernandez.

He's hardly that big:lol:

Let's hope they don't have the Medusa's teeth

Probable line up. Then SAF will go and pick Nani and Fabio.

The only worry for me is how one paced that midfield of Carrick/Scholes looks without Fletch....Valencia,Rooney and Park to do a lot of covering tonight

It's a very fluid midfield though. The transformational effect that Park and Valencia have on our side is really incredible - they add a lot of running to the side.

Carrick and Scholes won't be found wanting in any case - they're both excellent positionally. Play your best ball players in Europe, I say, and dictate the game.

Manchester United Defeat Real Madrid 4-3 on AGG. 10 years after Munich, Sir Matt and his new rebuilt Manchester United seek to capture that which caused so much tragedy - we should always always remember how winning the European cup for this club means so much than for anyone else, everytime we win it is a symbol of United shaking our fists in the face of fate and honouring those who are so special to us.

Roy-Keane-wheels-away-aft-001.jpg

Roy Keane picks up a dejected United in Turin on the way to lift a historic treble and win the match. As a performance Keane gave his all and missed the final, alongside his midfield partner Paul Scholes. Keane is one player any right-thinking United fan would love to see in his prime in this current United side. Considering our vast history of fantastic players, this is the ultimate praise.

Paul Scholes scores against Barcelona at Old Trafford. For United fans who watched this live, the moment is cherished not only for the belief we could win the champions league, but because Paul Scholes (God - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) is our hero and saviour and that it was fecking awesome. Scholes made up for missing out on the '99 final, by winning this semi final and destroying himself and Claude Makelele in the final. Which we also won, so feck off Chelsea.

Manchester United displaying quintessential counter-attacking football destroy Arsenal at the emirates thank in part to the fantastic performance of Ronaldo. United went onto the Final only to decide to let Barcelona have the title, because we didn't fancy it much that year. Less said the better.

It's a particularly poignant moment for United tonight, after the film 'United' on Easter Sunday it seems somewhat fitting that MUFC are back in Germany tonight almost as a sign of defiance and sheer power of will that we possess.

Always in our minds.

Fergie uses O'Shea mostly when we are facing teams that have considerable threat with high balls like Marseille. But I think Rafael or Fabio might be more sutibale for this one since you mentioned they are quick and fit. O'Shea will have a nightmare having to run like mad up and down the sideline. Unless he only stays at the back most of the time, which might be the case here.
