Berbatov | Fulham player

They didn't lie, the touchline guy said he was upset and had not joined the other unused players behind the dugout, he added that the word from the back was that he'd left but he couldn't confirm it.

Fergie said he hadn't left but had stayed in the dressing room, which in itself is a poor showing of team unity on his part.

I'm not advocating anything but the one point is for certain, regardless of anything else, he didn't come out to support the team unlike the rest of our squad.

I can see why Fergie went for Owen over Berba and chose to back the bench with Midfielders.

I thought though Berba deserved a place on the bench after the season he has had.

It's not professional of him if that's true, but look at it from Berbatov's point of view. Top scorer in the Prem, only to be overlooked for a place on the subs bench by a crocked has-been. It doesn't really inspire a lot of confidence does it? He dug you out of situations this season where points were on the verge of being lost, and that's how Ferguson repays him? Wouldn't be surprised if he's angling for a move out this summer.

Maybe it was all part of Fergie's masterplan to shift him on....hey...right?...right!?

No, probably not.

Sums it up.

I think he'll be off.

I hope he doesn't leave. He is a quality player and gives us something different to the other strikers at the club. He's one of the best at controlling the game in the attacking third against weaker opposition.

I'm sure after all his years of service John O'Shea expected there to be 2 defenders named on the bench and that he'd be one of them, but he wasn't, yet he still came out to support the team. I can understand it was a blow for Berbatov but he's an experienced player that should have handled it better.

It's telling that SAF refused to reply when asked if Berba had played his last game for the club.

He's getting to that age now where he needs to be playing first team football, good luck to him if he decides to move on. Would be disappointing to see him leave though.

Can I ask if the situation arises he speaks out in the press, suggestively criticising the manager and the club and tries to force a move, will you hold the same opinion of him?

Or do you imagine the fickle nature of our fans will mean he'll get booed and called a cnut?

Berba this season has been magnificent. But he has decided he will not be content to be just a squad player. The same thing happened with Ruud. That is why he will be off. I wish him luck.

In spells, yes.
He was magnificent in spells.

If Rooney or Ronaldo were good for a few weeks then had dry patches and got benched for several games and didn't score in the last third, they'd be descrivbed as having an up and down season.

The chances of Berbatov's dad not raping you are getting slimmer by the second. Just thought you should know.

You mean like Tevez did? He was, embarrassingly enough, cheered. I doubt Berba will be if he starts acting the way Tevez did. And he shouldn't be.

My question is would he be slagged off? He apparently refused to sit with them team and didn't join the team on the pitch to commiserate.

If he started behaving the way Tevez did? How the feck would I know? Wouldn't put anything past some of the idiots we have in the stands.

Allegedly.

Well I wasn't asking you directly in the first place, I did reiterate my question to you but if you don't feel like answering, don't get menstrual Saliph.

In my opinion, it's a fair shout to say they will if he leaves the club in a huff, especially as those same fans and the posters on here who championed the cause for Tevez to stay with the 'Fergie, sign him up' campaign transformed overnight into calling Tevez a cnut...

How could I answer? I can only speak for myself, and unlike some other people I have a backbone, and I'd want him away in a second if he did that.

Some of us started calling him a cnut when he started behaving like one, and not when he joined City.

Not saying you didn't but you must admit, for the vast majority, he was a must-stay player then the second he left he was a cnut.

Fickle.

he should know there is no assurances of first-team place when you are playing for United, if he doesn't want to fight for his place and chose to sulk and moan about it aka tevez, then feck him.....

It's a shame it just hasn't worked out for him at United for 1 reason or another. He's a quality player but just not suited to us at all.

I can't see him staying in the country and he'd probably do really well in Spain.

Am I the only one that thinks this is a storm in a tea cup? All we have is Sky saying he left the stadium, which was then proven to not be true. Now they're saying he wasn't on the bus? They're clearly desperate for a story. Personally I wouldn't believe a word they come out with. I reckon Berba will be here next season and beyond.

I thought we would be getting rid of Berbatov before the final but for him to be left out all together is the nail in the coffin for me.

It just doesn't make much sense to me. What would we get for him? £10 million tops?..what are the chances of us being able to replace him with someone of the same quality for less then that?...Unless he wants to move on, and has refused to sign a new contract, I don't see the financial or footballing sense in selling him.

If he really wanted to stay then he'll stay. But do you really think he's desperate to stay? He's our top scorer yet by the end of the season ended up relegated to third choice striker. (4th choice for the final!)

I'll be happy if he stays because he's a good player. I expect him to leave though.

I haven't got a clue tbh. Only Berba himself can answer that. But what I would say is that in his 3 years here, he's won 2 League titles, 1 League Cup and been to 2 CL finals. He'll find it very difficult to better that if he does move on.

I'm getting bored of repeating myself now, the reason Berbatov hasn't got a look in recently is because the Rooney-Hernandez partnership has been working so well and he wasn't going to upset that, that's how football works, Fergie himself has said as much.

Not sure why you keep harping on about the past 3 years either, granted the first 2 years weren't great but this season he's done the business, league top scorer and more game winners than anyone in the league.

So you are saying exactly the same thing.

He couldn't stomp his authority as first choice player which means he didn't turn out to be as good as expected.

Because no way did we buy a 30 mil striker to not be a first choice.

This is spot on.

And imo Berbatov would prefer to stay here and win things even as 3rd choice.

He doesn't strike to be the player who will leave United in search of first team football at a lower club. He wants it all easy here.

It's not like we're adverse to selling someone for little. Beckham comes to mind.

Maybe Fergie wants to make Welbeck our third choice striker. He seems to love Welbeck and is probably willing to give him a good chance to make a progress at United next season. If that is the case, then it wouldn't make sense to try to keep Berbatov, and he wouldn't accept to be our 4th choice striker anyway.

Going into a season with just Rooney, Hernandez, Welbeck and Owen would be a huge gamble.

If SAF plans to play with just one lone striker then it wouldn't be a problem.

Do you think that's his intention? Because I don't.

Besides, it would still be a problem. Only 1 of the 4 strikers I mentioned would be capable of playing in that position and doing it will on a consistant basis.

Agree about that but don't see another reason why we would sell Berba. I very much doubt that an experienced striker of his quality would come here to be 3rd or 4th choice. If Fergie is willing to sell him, and his treatment of Berbatov in the last 2-3 months suggests that he entertains the idea to do it, it will be only because he wants to make room for a younger striker, probably Danny. I agree that it would be a massive gamble though.

I was surprised that he wasnt on the bench and didnt know about the behind the scenes stuff. I think he is a good asset to the team, Sir Alex also said so in the build up to the game that his attitude has been brilliant never complained when he has been on the bench.

Lets not forget this is the champions league final, everyone wants to play and so it is absolutely natural to be disappointed that you not playing.

Lets move away from rumour and speculation, when he was scoring goals agains the likes of liverpool we all went berserk, give the guy a chance, why right him off.

We should sign Ruud back for a season if Berbatov leaves.

Or will City sell Adebayor? or Drogba?
