Charles Adam plz. lol j/k

Anderson was class at times this year, especially when finally been giving proper runs in the team instead of looking good then being dropped anytime he looked bad. Need to just let the odd bad game slide and give him a real run there.

He's brilliant when given space (usually at OT), for example against Valencia, Birmingham and Blackburn.

Where he really needs to improve is in tighter situations where he needs to rely on one touch instead of trapping it and ass barging his marker aside

This i agree with and I noted something similar. However, he has improved that side of his game. He played quite well against Everton for example who did start the game pressing us to kingdom come. With time and lots of patience, we will have a class midfielder in our hands. Sadly the latter is not quite evident with some people on here.

You know this CM we so desperately need?

Here he is. I can't see us signing anyone, comes down to fatty.

Another of Anderson's big short-coming is his off the ball movement.

Very often he gives the ball to his team-mate and just stands there instead making himself available for a return pass; something that Scholes is brilliant at.

Yep, and it's something that all top class central midfielders are brilliant at - watch Barcelona play; their off the ball movement is superb. Watch old videos of players like Zidane.

Surely this is Anderson's make or break season coming up

If he doesnt make his mark this season at United, he never will

we are down Scholes, Hargreaves, probably Gibson, Giggs is a year older

He will never have a better chance to stake his claim

from next season he will probably have the likes of Pogba snapping at his heels

I don't know about shipping out Carrick because I think he played some of the best football I've seen from him for some time during the title run in. I do agree with you about Ando though.

I mentioned elsewhere that we, as United fans, probably expect too much from young players because of the way the class of 92 clouded our expectations. Anderson, as you say, is still young and still has room to grow. The example I like to use when it comes to Ando is that of Riqueleme.

Nobody would argue that Riqueleme wasn't one of the world's best midfielders at his peak. People still argue that Argentina would've held their lead against Germany had Riquelme not been subbed off in the last 8 of the 2006 World Cup and gone on to win the tournament.

But Riqueleme was older than Anderson is now when he was being booted out of Barcelona as an expensive flop. Not everyone develops as fast as Rooney and Ronaldo.

Anderson has showed he has the goods. Yes, he's been inconsistent but with age he's getting less so. Last season before he got injured at winter he was first XI and when he returned to the side he was red hot barring the Arsenal away game (in which nobody played well).

From Ando's MOM performance at home against Everton he continually played well and he also added goals to his game over the last month or so to the season as well. If that's not demonstrable progress what is? Give him time and I know Anderson will evolve into a world class box-to-box midfielder.

Voice of reason and a glass half full kind of guy... ;)

Today is June 15th.

Well done. Keep dreaming about your Modric, Sniejder etc though. If Young comes he will be playing through the middle more often than not. So we have

Anderson (I am convinced this is his season)
Fletcher (Done a Magic Johnson)
Carrick (Keep things ticking over)
Giggs (If he can curb his sex addiction)
Jones (Will be weened for midfield in my opinion)

With some youth being promoted. A midfielder may be bought but it won't be as high class as everyone wants. Course I am all for being proven wrong.

Ok, then I agree with you. I also don't think we'll end up signing Modric or Sneijder. I think whoever we do sign will be "known", though, and I definitely think we'll sign at least one CM before the transfer window closes. It just might not be the player everyone expects.

For some strange reason, I keep thinking it will be Defour.

I misused the term "known"

I would be happy with Defour or someone similar.

It'll be somebody we haven't been linked to recently I reckon. Hamsik or Gourcuff maybe? Then again SAF could flip and go all out for Fabregas or something

Are you sure the sex addiction is not what has kept him goin till 38?

He was great last season in home games. Even if he doesn't realize his full potential next season he'll still make for a quality squad player.

This is probably the third year in a row somebody has predicted big things of Anderson. Truth is he has barely progressed in 4 years at the club.

I agree. In my opinion, Anderson isn't good enough.

(I am allowed to say that?)

I was thinking the same thing, but i believe he signed a new contract.

Not really, the boy was excellent in most of our homes games last year, he also finally found his scoring boots and is at a great age to kick on.

Yup, he was among our 3 best players in 7 of his 15 home matches according to Caftards.

I did forget about Blackpool for Park.

I thought 'assists' for own goals weren't counted? (re Sunderland)

We're using the Premierleague.com formula where own goals and penalties give assists as well.

Up to one self to just deduct those if one feels they shouldn't be counted.

I keep forgetting we even have him, is that weird? It just feels like he still hasn't made his mark on the team, I'm disappointed he hasn't been as good as we thought he could be.
