Aaron Ramsey

I think together with Ramsey we should also spare a moment for Shawcross.

Shawcross is also an unfortunate victim. I doubt he'll be able to sleep tonight. It might actually affect him psychologically and have an adverse effect on his career.

Yes, of course I felt for Ramsey but I felt for Shawcross too. The poor guy looked distraught leaving the pitch.

After the game and celebrating a goal aren't the same thing.

The comments from the Wenger and Fabregas were out of order. For such an intelligent guy it was uncalled for blaming others for the Ramsey's misfortune.

Yes but I quoted you saying that 'clearly Ramsey was the last thing on their mind' or whatever it was, when they celebrated the goal. Not when they were giving interviews.

We're just fortunate that Wenger didn't demand that Shawcross get thrown out of football for good.

Gutted for Ramsey, future world class talent... hope he comes back the same player:(

People are such hypocrites when it comes to tackles that break a players leg. It seems that even if it is an accident it is a guaranteed dismissal. Both players went for the ball in a committed manner, the commentators only described it as a "strong challenge" but as soon as the injury was seen it became a "bad challenge".

People need to grow up, it was a yellow card offense. It is not Ryan Shawcross' fault that he is far bigger and stronger than Ramsey is. Ramsey went in for the ball in the same way that Shawcross did, Ramsey came off worse and now people are wanting to enact some kind of artificial justice on him because of the consequences.

Did Shawcross go in studs up? No
Did he jump in? No
Did he kick Ramsey intentionally? No

He over-ran the ball and when he saw Ramsey coming in for the ball he tried to kick it to knock it past Ramsey. Ramsey touched the ball out of the way before shawcross got to it and Shawcross was fractionally late and kicked Ramsey accidentally.

Just to add, it is very tragic that a young player that is so promising got injured, but that doesn't alter the facts. Its a horrible situation but sometimes football can be like that

Best wishes to Ramsey

Sol Campbell on the other hand, he has one of those faces that would make me want to repeatedly punch him

You can understand where they are coming from though. & to be fair they were kinda still emotionally charged. 3 times in 5 years is really bad going.

Strangely enough, if one looks back on it all, it's the Diaby break that was from a truly malicious challenge. Not the ones that precipitated worse injuries for Eduardo and Ramsey.

When you were at school did no one break their legs? Or, when they did, did you all sit there in silence for the rest of the day, and cry?

Breaking a leg at school does not potentially affect the rest of your life/career.

Having to retire because of heart problems?
Actually losing a limb a la Dario Silva?
Suffering a fractured skull that could have almost killed you?
Dying?

Personally, and this may just be me, but I reckon your career takes a bigger hit if you die than if you break a leg. Again, just my take on things.

feck me.:(

Luckily, Ramsey has time and probably the best doctors in Europe on his side. He's only nineteen and will have plenty of opportunity to get back to his best. A nasty, nasty injury, but I hope that when the dust settles he won't blame Shawcross too much. If Aaron turns out half as good as it looks like he might be, he'll be suffering challenges far worse and more malicious than that during his career, though hopefully without the same consequences.

yeah thats the problem, he'll probably turn out half as good.

Lord almighty:eek::eek:

yeah it looks nasty but actually with it being the middle of his shin that has gone rather than his ankle or knee then he might have a pretty clean break which will help it to heal better plus there should hopefully not be some of the rehab problems associated with sockets... ie sometimes they just never fix properly...

id guess he is going to be out for a while but on the plus side its not like he has a world cup to miss...

wish him all the best though

Nasty nasty injury and very unfortunate but not in any way malicious or intended by Shawcross. I hope Ramsey doesn't suffer any complications and will be fit and ready for next season. But the tackle in itself wasn't bad at all, just unfortunate, and not a red card.

I wish Aaron every success with his injury and has no lasting affects. As a rival fan I don't for one moment hope he comes back to be a world beater. Do we seriously think other rival fans wish Anderson, Hargreaves come back from their respective injuries as great players?

has he died ?

because people behave like he has. I feel sorry for the guy , but i think it's a bit over the top.
This is football , things like this happen . Worse things happen everyday and no one even talks about it. If you watch news in TV and you hear that 60 people dies of starvation in Nigeria everyday , you wont even choke on your sandwitch. dont act like drama queens please.

Well if they don't that's their prerogative, what kind of attitude is that to take.

At the end of the day, watching football.. you want to see the greatest talents reach their best and take the game to a new level.. thats what makes it the beautiful game.

Petty rivalries pale into insignificance when it involves physical injury of such a nature.. especially when its a 19 yr old kid.

I would never have wanted Messi to end up injury plagued and end up like fat ronaldo when he was suffering a few years back despite the fact it would in the future hurt United. You aim to be the best through your own efforts not by wishing ill on others. Warped mentality and I find it childish and pathetic.

Neither Ramsey or Anderson had proved themselves great players before their injuries. So if they don't ever turn out to be great then we'll never know if it was down to injury or just because they were not good enough.

100% Agree with this

Most likely. What shocked me is the fact he seemed to have left the lower half of his leg behind as he fell forward. It's like he basically snapped the bone off!

 o that's cold:lol:

Same here.

No. But two wrongs don't make a right tbf:D

It's not warped or childish mentality. It's wanting your team to stay ahead of the pack. As a human being I feel for the kid, as a football fan it's possible it will benefit the team I support.

Diaby at Sunderland, Eduardo at Birmingham and now Ramsey at Stoke.

Terrible injury & all the best to Ramsey - let's hope he makes a speedy recovery.

Agreed.

Good luck to Ramsey in his recovery

I still think Taylor did Eduardo, that was a really nasty challenge

This just doesn't compare. Seen it again, he's gone in hard and Ramsey has just nicked it away first. No studs showing, it's not particularly high... it just looks very unlucky to me. Had there been no horrific injury, I think he'd get a yellow card for the challenge

Does show how easy really serious injury can happen though, which is why it's right to crack down on those who do commit really dangerous challenges, even if the receiver is fortunate and doesn't get seriously hurt

Agree that Shawcross did not go in to hurt Ramsey in any way - it was an unfortunate result of a 50-50 challenge.

They showed it on MOTD and they pointed out that Shawcross' studs weren't showing - he went in to kick the ball but Ramsey was too quick.

I think Wenger's comments were totally out of order. Especially from someone who felt it was fair for his players to try and kick Nani out of the game after Nani had the audacity to beat them with a piece of skill.

That may be the first sensible thing MOTD have said all year.
