I'd probably put him top 10 but there's no way he's top 5. Messi, Ronaldo, Ibra, Suarez, Robben, Ribery, Iniesta for sure.
The bias is strong in this one.

Fair enough. Not sure why you continue to put Ribery ahead of him though. He is nowhere near top 10 at the moment.I'd probably put him top 10 but there's no way he's top 5. Messi, Ronaldo, Ibra, Suarez, Robben, Ribery, Iniesta for sure.
None of them played anything like him last year, and it takes a lot for me to say that about Iniesta as he's my favourite player since Ruud.I'd probably put him top 10 but there's no way he's top 5. Messi, Ronaldo, Ibra, Suarez, Robben, Ribery, Iniesta for sure.
No because it's "yes he is, no he isn't" kind of argument. But good on you for being a prick. That's because it would be impossible to find 5 players better than him right now, you'll reply with a sarcastic comment/laughing face because you know we're right.
I'm not quite so sure I'm the prick here, but I suppose some would have to resort to name calling. No because it's "yes he is, no he isn't" kind of argument. But good on you for being a prick.
Yes, he is.
The only players better than him last year were Ronaldo, Suarez and Messi.
People will literally flay you for saying that.Messi wasn't better. Ronaldo probably too. This leave us with Suarez > Di Maria > Robben
Messi scored 28 goals in 31 league games, 8 goals in 7 champions league games and also got 13 assists. But he wasn't better than Di Maria?Messi wasn't better. Ronaldo probably too. This leave us with Suarez > Di Maria > Robben
There's no way di Maria being a top five player would even be discussed on here three months ago.
Tbf with every Dortmund player pressing like a madman our top players would only dare to pass back to DDG, most of the other passes wouldn't reach one of our players anyway. It's easy to blame Sanchez but Dortmund is a bloody great team, and the atmosphere for the visiting team could hardly be more terrifying!Horrible today. So many displaced passes and all around play. Terrible performance.
Sanchez also suits Arsenal better so it's two good deals for both clubs.

We needed a winger who scores goals rather than a creative player.Do explain.
Not a chance, although i would have in my top 10 but the people saying he is on par with Robben and SuarezThere's no way di Maria being a top five player would even be discussed on here three months ago.

He really wasn't, people saw him as a lesser Nani even last summer.I dispute that assertion, though I have no facts to support that dispute. My impression has been that Di Maria has been greatly admired on these pages for several seasons. He's no Ronaldo or Messi -- and no one has said he's their equal -- but Di Maria had consistently been regarded as a key player for Real Madrid before his arrival at OT.

I meant the summer of 2013. Some were saying they wanted to buy him after he grabbed his balls in front of the Madrid fans and it looked like he would be off but lots were saying they would rather just keep Nani instead. Only an idiot wouldn't admire him after his last season though. He's been admired by many on here for ages and especially last season. The CL final thread for example is almost nothing but praise for Di Maria and talking about how amazing he is.
Huh? I never read that madness myself, complete idiocy if someone really said that.He really wasn't, people saw him as a lesser Nani even last summer.
Pretty sure I mentioned him as being top five in the last year. Doubt I was the only one.Not a chance, although i would have in my top 10 but the people saying he is on par with Robben and Suarez![]()
Well, maybe not lesser but there was lots that said they'd rather keep Nani than sign him.Huh? I never read that madness myself, complete idiocy if someone really said that.

Absolutely. Don't know what is happening here for a while now, every top player needs to have one average game and there are several posts questioning the signing of that player. As if Sanchez never existed at Barca where he was impressive in some of the biggest games as well as in the world cup.Its funny that people are quick to blame star players who become largely invisible against us, when one of the core principles of Klopp´s system is to take key wide players out of the game. We managed to contain some of the best players on the planet when the system clicked: Ribery, Robben, Bale, Ronaldo or Di Maria.
Put the mighty Di Maria in the same position as Sanchez today and he would have most likely looked the same: rather ordinary. The system we employed today is an absolute nightmare for such a player. Not only did we play with a highly defensive orientated central midfield, which shifted to the side if needed but also the two offensive midfielder, who are the best in tracking back and general defensive contribution. This led to Sanchez being constantly doubled if not even trippled from time to time. No matter how good you are, you can´t consistently beat two players, who are good in defensive areas, which is a key requirement to make it under Klopp.

I was only after joining the forum then and wasn't posting much so I can't really remember if they were saying it because they hoped the money would be spent elsewhere. I certainly hope that's what it was! That's hard to believe, but I guess you'll find all types of bad ideas on here.
I could see someone wishing we had spent that money elsewhere, but not wanting di Maria? Bizarre.
