Anderson

What SAF says about Anderson is very encouraging. What I read from it is SAF's own transformation over the years. He has become so wise now and knows how a player feels even before that player comes to talk to him.
Last season Anderson was not acting on his own. I say this because, people from Alegre wanted someone to represent them. They knew Ronaldinho will be snub by Dunga so they had pin their hopes on Anderson making the Brazilian squad.

Radio stations in Alegre were buzzing with strange rumours that with Ronaldo gone, Anderson will no longer be used as a water carrier but as an attacking force. It was not happening for him and I think pressure from home contributed to his talk and behavour towards SAF. Caetano definitely influence Anderson to come check Vasco Da Gama out and Anderson I am sure listened to him as it was Caetano who help Anderson onto the National stage from Gremio.

People of Porto Alegre (the part Anderson come from, predominantly black) are very proud people and feel the nation looks down on them , so they go to extreme measures to make sure their name is in the news at all times imo. Anderson is their present and immediate hope. (Port Alegre is predominantly of European descent)
Hopefully SAF has the patience to guide Anderson. I don't know what has happened to Anderson and shooting, he can hit long passes like Scholes (not a joke), but after his first leg injury, he came back with no confidence at all. It is really strange. It is almost like he feels embarrass to shoot because he knows the outcome will be towards the corner flag. If he can improve his English, it would be good for him to talk to Scholes before he retires to help him out.

This is a very encouraging article. Out of everyone in the squad, I think he has the potential to be the best, though I'm sure it's all been said before. To hear Ferguson speak highly of his attitude is wonderful given that it's something that, as a result of all sorts of tabloid bollocks, seemed to be in question.

Great comments from the manger. Anderson has nothing to envy from Ozil. All he has to do is listen to The boss and his time will come. A player with his talent playing under Sir Alex Ferguson cannot fail to fulfill his potential.

There is something about Ando's character who is hard to resist. I guess his enthusiasm and wonderful smile make it easier to love him and to overlook some of his shortcomes.

The article is a transcript of what he said in the press conference Friday.

Sir Alex Ferguson reveals Anderson was thinking about quitting Manchester United

Sir Alex Ferguson reveals Anderson was thinking about quitting Manchester United - Goal.com
Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted Anderson considered leaving Manchester United last season.

The midfielder has failed to maintain a consistent run of form following his £18 million transfer from Porto three years ago, which prompted speculation that he could be sold in last January’s transfer window.

Anderson stayed at Old Trafford despite his apparent desire to switch clubs, only to rupture his cruciate ligament in United’s win against West Ham in February.

The 22-year-old is now nearing the end of his recovery and Ferguson believes his lengthy spell on the sidelines may have matured the Brazilian.

“Last season he was talking about leaving because he was not playing in every game." Ferguson told reporters.

"Maybe it is a good thing he has been injured for a spell because he can look at the situation.

"I didn't talk to him about leaving. I just let him get it out of his system.

"Maybe the injury has quelled the storm in his body because he came back here with the same enthusiasm and has been telling me he is ready to play.”

The United manager insists Anderson is eager to start playing first-team football again and believes the Brazilian can justify his hefty price tag upon returning.

"He loves training and playing. He wants to play every game and train every day,” said Ferguson.

"But that is a problem for me because at 22 he has not got the maturity to understand we operate a squad here. When he does understand that, he will be a fantastic player here.

"In some ways, I don't want to change his mentality because it is wonderful to see someone who wants to play every minute of every day.

"If you have someone with that enthusiasm, you have to be careful you don't check it to the point when you lose it.

"Anderson has an incredible talent. Everyone has seen the quality in his game and he will get his opportunity."

He is a fecking ox.
Compare his pictures nowadays with pictures of his early days at Porto. He looked like a toothpick. Didn't look like beeing built to bulk up that way.

Look forward to seeing him again

“We certainly hope [he kicks on this season], because the boy is a wonderful talent,” enthused Sir Alex.

Always good to hear that when you not only have people questioning his attitude but questioning his ability too.

It was the game against Leeds last season where he got crocked right? I remember thinking he was running about like a headless chicken trying to prove his commitment.

It was against West Ham where he did his ligaments.

He was very unlucky to get subbed in the Leeds game. He was doing a lot of running but again it was his long passing that lets him down. I remember against Wolfsburg away he did not stop running either for 90 minutes. His stamina was definitely much better last season. He should be banned from trying long passes.

Sometimes it does happen with young players when they do not score quickly in their first team careers. Fabregas went through the first few seasons not scoring many goals but now is a good goal scorer for Arsenal. I think the world cup played a part in his thinking about leaving because like all players they want to be part of the WC squad and because he was not involved for large parts of the season in the first team he was getting frustrated as he was not likely to get picked. It was unfortunate that when he did get an opportunity he got injured. Hopefully he does not rush his comeback and takes his time to get properly fit because if he stays fit and in good form then United will certainly benefit because he is a huge talent.

It's funny out of everything that SAF said the headline was regarding him thinking of leaving.

Not that he came back to training, not that he is in going to SAF with enthusiasm and saying "I am ready, I am ready". Unfortunately many because of this will remember what SAF said about him as him wanting to leave. The next time he has a bad game or incident - they'll point out how he wanted to leave. Not that SAF has said he wants to play every minute and train all the time and does it with a smile.

I don't think Anderson understands just how good SAF expects him to become. And SAF would never let him know due to the unnecessary self-awareness/pressure it could induce.

Playing for the reserves tonight if you believe Mark Ogden webchat on the times website.

Neville, Brown, Carrick, Gibson and Smalling as well.

It was what the reserves used to be all about, giving the non-players mare pitch time. Made the value of a season ticket worth even more.

Rumoured reserve XI tonight: Amos; Nev,Brown,Smalling,Rafael; Gibson,Anderson,Carrick,Cleverley; Macheda,W.Keane. Emphasis on RUMOURED.

If that is the team, even city's ELITE SQUAD may struggle. Looks like a Carling Cup sort of XI. Should get confirmation in 30 mins or so.

Everything I read seems to say he's definitely going to be playing. Find out soon enough.

gibson right , cleverley left if that lineup is true

Ridiculously strong team,

probably Devlin, Bébé, DeLaet, Obertan, Fabio and Rooney  on the bench then?

The line up tonight is:

------------------Amos------------------
Gaz-------Wes------Smalling------Rafael
Gibson----Carrick----Anderson---Cleverley
--------------Eikrem--------------------
----------------Macheda----------------

Bench: Gill, Devlin, Dudgeon, Norwood, Will Keane

1-1 at half time. Macheda with a smart goal. Cleverley has the been our best player.
