Tempted to have Clev or Scholes alonside Carrick
That dance was a dead giveaway, wasn't it? All knew what was going to ensue. Hubris, the greek gods called it, tempting the fates.
A shame, though, but hopefully shortlived.
Should be nowhere near the first team. I'd rather see Jones in there.
Do you honestly believe that Anderson's physicality would have had any effect whatsoever on Yaya Toure? Anderson only really uses his to shield the ball and Toure doesnt do much defending for City the way they use him. It'd be more about resisting Barry

If the same shit happens with injuries this year, he has to go in the Summer.
If this is just a minor setback, phew. If one thing turns into another and he is now out for the majority of the season, we need to find someone else who can do what he does, but stay fit.
We should be buying another midfielder anyway
Indeed, it's an incredibly frustrating scenario. I can't think of many other footballers that SAF would continue to persist with so long despite all this shit over the last 6 years. I imagine that if the rest of our midfield wasn't so old, sick and crap he'd be out the door by now.
I mean really, did anyone actually expect him to go this season without buggering himself up again? Fair enough this might only be a minor injury but you just know he's going to end up getting fecked for months again, come back looking as unfit as ever, and rinse and repeat.
It's time SAF stoped relying on our current crop of midfielders and sorted the bloody thing out.
Of course the solution is to buy midfielders. Plenty have gone in the last 2 to 3 years (and that's how long we've needed to buy one for, this isn't just a new thing), not necessarily brilliant ones, but Christ, they don't need to be brilliant to improve the midfield we have.
I don't buy this idea that he just hasn't found the right midfielder yet. He's been buying wingers and strikers no bother. Was Young the perfect fit for this club? No, we got him cause we missed out on other wingers that Summer, why can't we do the same with our midfield?
I know I'm being brutal here, but the standard and reliability we have in it is appalling. Something needs to be done about it, and that something is not sitting around on our arses as it decays even further, hoping the next Roy Keane magically appears out of nowhere.
I don't think you are being brutal, it's frustrating. You will struggle to find anyone who has bemoaned our midfield for as long as i have. But you have to wonder why he has been able to buy for every position except central midfield?
For me it is our system. Quality strikers are almost guaranteed goalscorers given enough chances. But even our wingers have struggled as much as the midfield. Only Valencia has regular spells of consistency because he is the only 'winger' well suited to how we play.
Midfielders are hard for us to identify, simply because most play in a 3 of some type with teammates in close proximity, so it is very difficult to predict how well they would cope playing in a far more isolated pairing in a faster league. This is why i feel SAF is reluctant to spend the money on midfielders who he isn't sure can do the job better than what we have. Consider his record with foreign midfielders and it must surely only add to his reluctance.
Changing the system would enable us to buy midfielders and play them in a system similar to what they are used to. Makes it much easier to spot players under those circumstances. I think Xavi and Busqets would struggle playing in our system. They would certainly not be used to having so few teamamates within 5 or 10 yards, nor having such huges spaces to cover when trying to get the ball back.
City fan?
Then there's your Valencia who was on a roll after regaining fitness.
Anyways, lets see how Anderson copes after this injury. Was looking really good lately and i'm so gutted for him to get injured again.
This is what happens when you buy a player after he breaks his leg.
Hargreaves
Anderson
I wasn't aware Valencia was on a roll.

Please, be miraculously okay, way earlier than expected.
I'm not sure that your hypothesis really holds up given your exceptionally slim evidence.
I think we should buy more Trinidadian players.
Dwight Yorke.
I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see him until February, it seems like when he does get injured he usually suffers a setback of some kind and is out way longer than originally stated.
Sorry if I'm not too positive about the chances of Anderson getting/staying fit.
Question, if the same thing happens this season as most others, and he ends up injured for most of it and doesn't get a consistent run going, should we get rid?
I'm asking because the general consensus pre-season was that this was "make or break" time for him.
