One to give you food for thought.

I reckon he has been told he would be back by December or thereabouts. But SAF....to protect the boy has pencilled in February by the time they get his fitness, match practice and confidence in check. Also gives him some time to recuperate without any relapse. Means there's simply less expectation and hope pinned on the boy and its a target set by his manager as something to aim for!

Great news

I miss him.

If he just can be fit for Chelsea to give cashly some raping.

:(

Hope he gets back soon. He adds a whole new dimension to our attack with that power and pace he has...A human battering ram over on the right flank.

Can't say anything negative about what Park's done in the situation lately, but when we do need to go 4-5-1, we're a lot more dangerous with Nani and Valencia on the wings.

Some bright news hopefully

Medical staff at Man Utd are confident that Antonio Valencia will return for The Red Devils in January. The 25-year-old Ecuadorian winger fractured and dislocated his left ankle in September, but he has vastly improved over the last couple of weeks in recuperation exercises...

Valencia suffered a severe injury to his left ankle in a Champions League Group Stage draw against Glasgow Rangers at Old Trafford. He underwent a season-saving operation the day afterwards, and was ruled-out of action until mid-February at the earliest, according to Sir Alex Ferguson.

However, medical staff and doctors within Carrington are confident of a mid-to-late January return for Valencia. The Ecuador International will provide a welcome boost for United, heading into the second half of the season. The 25-year-old could prove a vital asset in reclaiming the Premier League, Champions League and possibly even The FA Cup.

Valencia has used NASA technology at United's training centre, where underwater treadmills have assisted him in walking again. He is now understood to be taking part in light football training. The winger will definitely be available for The Reds' European tie against Marseille on February 23rd.

Be a welcome addition to the team after Xmas.

We've coped extraordinarily well given that we've had Rooney and Valencia out for a huge chunk of the season.

A true hard bastard. Hope him and big nanners keep us ticking over on the wings.

As a side note, can anyone remember any game where Nani has started on the left and Valencia on the right and both have excelled? I can't remember any.

Will be interesting to see what we do when he returns given Nani's form.

Against Bayern? Although we lost, they did both very well

I'd be astound if he's back that soon. Would really show an amazing improvement in the medical aspect of sports.

He's amongst the best wingers in the country and his return will be a huge boost for us. Can't wait.

OK this is MY present for christmas! When the injury happended, I thought that he would easily be out for like 6-8 months.. WOW simply amazing..

it is great to hear of a swift return, lets just not risk him too early

Hope it's true. It'd be like a new player for the 2nd half of the season

Fingers crossed

Why does this get said everytime any player returns from injury.

Because it's a player we haven't seen in months hence it'd be like having a new player for a bit until he settles in again

What's the big deal ? Why does it bother you so much?

It's an understandable saying in the circumstances but it's very cliche, like "he has a good touch for a big man" regarding Peter Crouch.

McGrathsipan, do you think his coming back will shift Nani back to the left or will he compete with Nani for a spot on the right wing.

I think him and Nani will compete for a spot on the right, but more often than not can see Nani put on the left because he can be effective there, his cut-ins would be more effective there as well as he'd be on his favoured right foot.. Possibly not in the big games though, when we have Park back from the cup, because Park does a job on the left and his favoured for big games. That's when I can see it being either Luis or Tony.

what is this?

This is a dilemma, a good dilemma at that though . I think initially he will compete with Nani but the problem is both of them are good enough to play. So eventually Nani may be shifted out to the left because he is the one that is more likely to use his left peg. Valencia is a smashing player but maybe his one weakness is his lack of left peg ability

What do you think?

Valencia will play on the right and Nani will return to the left wing, where his form will continue to be just as brilliant.

So is the sun rising every morning but you don't bitch at that.

Sure he does. Every morning, Scholesy gets up, and goes out onto the roof. He looks north, frowns, looks west, scowls, looks south, gets the crazy eyes, and when he turns east and sees that the sun has once again risen in that same direction, lets loose a torrent of profanity at the predictable sun.

Sometimes he flings poo at it.
