Arsenal are a shambles

Even if the contracts weren't set to increase until Arsenal were assured a CL place, there should still be room in the wage bill especially since no new contracts have been handed out and we've sold players. Kolasinac and Lacazette's contracts would surely be less than the all the players who have left.

This is assuming that the club's management still have it's best interests at heart...

i just going off based on what's been said around which make sense to me. Anyway club's management only have their interest at heart, clearly.

I'm just glad i'm not invested into the club as much as I was 3-4 years ago. They are not even enjoyable to watch anymore

He most likely absolutely 100% plans to make money without a care for trophies.

Kroenke is even on record stating he doesn't buy sports teams to win trophies. Sadly though he is all about long term asset appreciation which means even if Usmanov came in and offered him a crazy profit, Kroenke would still refuse.
If Kroenke was offered the option between
A) 10% chance of winning the trophy but 10% chance of losing asset value in Arsenal
B) 0% chance of winning the trophy with 0% chance of his asset Arsenal losing value
He would 100% choose B every time. He only attends 1 game at most a season ffs.

Joking or...? Isn't that what Arsenal tried to do after moving from Highbury? And what did that get them?

Dortmund got very lucky that a great deal of their cheap signings came good for a few years. Arsenal were doing fairly well for a bit, but as with all gambles like that, they will stop paying off eventually. The van Persies and Fabregases will start turning into Wilsheres and Sanogos.

I think once you've gone that buy young-grow-sell path it's extremely hard to go back.
Arsenal tried recently with all Ozil, Mustafi and Xhaka things, but they've missed the moment.
You need to feel the place and moment your team degrades and fix the broken parts every year, it's a constant process. No one or two players will fix the team that's turned to shit.
Arsenal once had a good amount of young prospects with bright future like Wilshere, Ramsey, Walcott, Gibbs, etc. who were meant to be the base for future success. Arsene missed the moment when they've broke (some - literally) or reached their ceiling.
Now he's left with former young-and-perspectives in their mid-30s and are average/Sturridgesque, a few transfer flops and a few decent players brought too late to make a change. The decent ones want to leave, and the poor ones suck the money out of the club while being on a bench/stretcher. Through the thinning veil of former glory the ugly problems start to show, scaring some of the potential newcomings.

The new manager, whenever he comes, should be provided with LOTS of cash straight away if the board really wants to save the club.

Aye, I noticed that after the semi final win over City last season, I had a sneaky feeling they'd win the cup again as Wenger must see it as his only real option to justify his job nowadays. I can't work out if the fella is just unbelievably stubborn, or he genuinely thinks he can turn it all around and compete again.

If he had any decency and love for the club he'd walk, he's lost control and everyone knows it, even his staunchest fans are saying he should leave (apart from Gary Neville bizarrely). Sad end to a great career at Arsenal, he's just leaving a bad taste in people's mouths by sticking around and tainting his legacy. Fergie knew when it was time to leave, and he was still winning too.

Spot on.

Absolutely shocking stuff from Arsenal. Why the feck did they not sort all of this out long before now? How can you have half a dozen players wanting out all summer and you wait till deadline day to get rid of them? Just an absolute complete mess from top to bottom.

Ferguson only decided to leave after the death of his wife's sister (IIRC this happened in December 2012). Prior to that I don't think he had any intention on resigning as United manager.

Rest of your post I agree with.

So Mustafi is staying. But he does want to be there. And Wenger doesn't want him.

Terrific management.

It has to be deliberate sabotage from Wenger to show up the incompetent leadership at the top. He's not that thick.

It really is unbelievable. I just read on Sky that they are apparently happy with their transfer business. They're in denial. There's simply no other explanation for it.

The atmosphere at their next home game is going to be toxic, especially if they concede first.

Oh God it will be fecking mutinous. If you own a light aircraft and some tarp and you live in the North London area you'll be richer than Robbie before long.

We play them on dec 2nd at the library.

A 6 goal tonking would probably get rid of wenger. A fitting end to the miserable sod..

Remember when Arsenal were going to bid £120m for Mbappe?

Never thought I'd feel this sorry for Arsenal. Is there any chance Wenger will walk or is he being held responsible for this? If they lose Sanchez and don't sign anyone else I can genuinely see them finishing mid-table.

The Mbappe links look likely have been designed solely to ensure supporters carried on with season tickets.

Arsenal are run to keep their shareholders happy, screw the fans, and that lost CL revenue isn't just going to replace itself!

Sell all these players early in the window and they might actually have to go buy someone, much better to wait til deadline day.

Looking back, playing Ox under those circumstances is a sackable offense.
It shows a manager who has completely lost the plot.
