Arsenals chances of a top 4 finish this season

About 1 in 3. Spurs and Newcastle are, for different reasons, unlikely to be 4th, and Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool are hard to separate. Whoever goes on a half decent run will probably get it.

Liverpool and the London two are easy to separate, there will be two teams from Manchester and two from London in next season's CL again, only one of them replaced by Tottenham compared to this season.

So now their season is reduced to a four-way dog-fight to finish 4th - and next August they'll head into their 8th year without winning a trophy.

The myth of Arsene's youth "wonder team" has been exposed for the busted flush it truly is.
50 years without a league title suggests that you don''t have any cards over 3.

It's probably just blind loyalty to a bet from earlier in the season, but I still think Chelsea and Arsenal will finish 3rd and 4th.

Similar fixtures, but I think it very marginally makes me favour Chelsea - especially if they can establish a lead in the next three games. However, you'd have to expect Chelsea to advance in the Champions League and the FA Cup despite their poor form. The fact they're still in these competitions and Arsenal are realistically not could actually allow Arsenal to sneak 4th. A lot could also ride on that near-end of season game at the Emirates. Much like how the League Title could well be decided at Eastlands the following weekend. Would have been amazing if both of those fixtures happened on the same day!

I think Chelsea. This season has been a (relative) disaster, but they've got far more talent than Liverpool and Arsenal. The drawback for Chelsea would be if they advance in both the FA Cup and CL, they'll have a harder road to navigate, and certainly do what they can to win the CL, even if that means resting Mata, Sturridge, and other key players. I can't see Spurs finishing anything but 3rd.

I would love Arsenal to finish outside top 4.

Absolutely love it.

Hope Newcastle get 4th which is tough, though.

It's much more amusing, to me, to see Roman's millions fail than Wenger's thick headed ideology.

Though if Newcastle could sneak in and throw them both into turmoil it would be very amusing.

Needless to say I hope Liverpool are relegated.

this this and this again

Yep, that's the reason I come onto this board.

Apparently we were going to bottle it in 2010 when we had Arsenal, Chelsea, Man utd and Man City to qualify for 4th. Apparently we were going to bottle it when we got into the CL. Its such a stupid term and means almost nothing. We apparently bottled it last season. We barely even spent that long in the top 4 places and spent most of the season competing with a club that had spent more on a leftback (now reserve) than we have ever spent on a player.

I'm not celebrating anything. In the 5-1 game against Arsenal, I nearly had a heart attack when they scored their goal because even at 4-1, I thought here we go again.

But for most of the past few decades, we haven't 'bottled it'. We've just been shit. One of the most overused and meaningless phrases on this board.

Lol, bottled it again.

I reckon we'll beat Arsenal next week on the back of this cup win. But that will be end of our goalscoring as unfortunately I'm noticing our players seem to rest on their laurels a bit too much. With Spurs getting arse-raped by ManUtd yet again for the 20th season Sky have owned football coverage, it starts opening up 3rd place as well.

Certainly not all over yet and lots of fun and games, and tears, to come.

How the feck would that open up 3rd place for you lot? You're 14 points behind, it'd only open it for Arsenal if they beat you.

You've not got a hope, beating a Championship side on penalties doesn't change that.

We couldn't even beat a championship side at old trafford, that doesn't mean we are doomed.Although I do think that Arsenal won't lose against Liverpool but they will have to sort out that defense.

Yep. Would always prefer arsenal to finish 4th ahead of chelsea pool etc. Though it'd be grand if somehow Newcastle could pip them all to it.

The point is that they're not finishing 4th.

In fairness that was Liverpool's first team that played yesterday while we thought a combination of our 2nd/3rd XI would do the job against Palace.

I know but still you have to understand cardiff players were well up for it. These players probably won't get to play in another wembley final.

sadly Chelsea are so shite this year they might gift Arsenal 4th, Liverpool and Newcastle don't seem good enough to get 4th either, weakest 4th place this season in a long while, also easiest season to finish top 4 for a while

Why is that sad?

Who the feck wants Roman's Chelsea to finish 4th?

Arsenal any day of the week (assuming Newcastle won't do it).

Was about to ask precisely that. Arsenal over Chelsea anyday for me.

Gillespie, percentage break downs in each competition for Arsenal next season?

You almost sound like you'd rather Liverpool get the 4th spot..

In answer to the question posed in the title: slim.

Chelsea and Spurs should really get the CL spaces or they have fecked up monumentally. If a team as shit as Arsenal can come 4th then we might as well be done with it and invite the Scottish teams down south to join in the Muppet Show the EPL will have become.

no, ideally I would rather Newcastle of those teams got it.

I detest Chelsea slightly less than Arsenal or Liverpool though.

This, would rather Chelsea hang onto 4th, their budget depends on Roman's mood and not CL qualification; but the others will have more money to spend if they make 4th.
