Yeah, I noticed that too.
Freak.
Kaka83 - Shit name, and all.
I'm changing mine to Robinho82.
Yeah, I noticed that too.
Freak.
Vidic and Evra are special, but they took their time to settle in. Same for Rio.
I'm keeping the faith in him.
They came from other leagues though. Hadnt been in England for the two years previous. They were also fairly young.
This bloke's strange. He only posts about Berbatov.
Weirdo.
Yeah, I noticed that too.
Freak.
Rio and all?
ThatOldRedMagic seems to post exclusively about Ronaldo in here from what I can tell.
But he seems a good poster.
Not sure what my point was.......
Obviously not, but he too was fairly young and the money we paid was obviously for the long game and for how much service he'd do over those years. Plus we were desperate for a bit of quality in our backline.
Good for you...
Need I remind you that vidic and evra both came from abroad half-way through a season...didn't speak the language, so obviously they took time. Rio took his time as well but defenders don't usually peak until their late twenties, and Rio's performances were not poorer than the ones he put in at Leeds. It was a case of biding our time with him.
Berbatov has not even touched his Spurs performances, which considering he's playing for a far more dominant team with better players makes it pretty pathetic. Yes, there is a possibility that he'll step up but he's largely a fair-weather player who hides more often than not. So far I have yet to see evidence to the contrary.
What about Pallister? Stam? Carrick? Not many players have hit it off, in the first season. I can only think of Ruud and Cantona. Berba may or may not make the grade. He's got the talent, but I dunno.... I suppose not every player can make it at United, playing for Spurs is one thing, playing for the biggest club in the world, another.
It is true though. He was fantastic for them. How does it matter whether he saw him.You never watched him for Spurs though, so how would you know?

Carrick's a good example actually. Another Spurs player, with a hefty price-tag round his neck who got a hell of a lot of stick from some United fans, throughout his first season. Not dissimilar to Berbatov in terms of style too (neither of them will ever be "all action")
He's grown into the shirt. So will Berbatov. Probably.
Well we were talking about 'special' players supposedly and the ones that were brought up.
Tevez hit it off in the first season, last year.
The last part sounds like you're talking about pressure and expectation but I dont think thats it at all.
Berbatov is just playing with a different side with different qualities around him. Maybe at Spurs it was a case of Berbatov's name on the team sheet and then surrounding him with the players who make up for his deficiencies in his game and who bring the best out of him. Instead we brought him in to try and get more out of certain team mates. Team mates who are better players than he is. In the first scenario you can continue with trial and error till you get it right and you get the best of him. When he comes into a side thats won the double its him who needs to adjust to what the team needs from him. There's obviously going to need to be a slight adjustment from team mates, but we're not Spurs. We arent going to drop our right winger if he doesnt link up well with Berbatov. We arent going to pick the stike partner who seemingly got the most out of Berbatov this season (Tevez for a run of games, even though he didnt get on the scoresheet much himself). Because quite simply Berbatov isnt one of our best players. He's just another piece of the jigsaw and if his edges dont fit we wont change the picture. So its up to him to improve certain aspects which make him a better fit to the side. The unfortunate part being he seems to be a character with the opposite mentality. He's a grump who says he wont change. And we knew that before we bought him.

Tevez was hit and miss. He still is.
Tevez was a hit.
This season he's been miss with some hit.
For those who say Berbatov is a class player, yes I agree.
So when is he going to produce it consistently? The evidence has been there for those who have watched all the matches this season.
It's never guaranteed that a class player will fit into United.

Hopefully. Must admit I have my doubts about Berbatov, though. Then again, he's not exactly done anything to allay my fears. The man is seriously talented and I really thought he would've been bossing the final third by now. Carrick's a good example, yes. But he could also be another Veron, who it has to be said, looked totally out of place here.
On a side note, strikers with pace always do well in England.
Tis true.
The fact he's already proved his quality in the Premier League is reassuring though. Veron represented more of a gamble. Some players just don't suit certain leagues.
Really?? 19 goals in 48 games says otherwise. He was hit and miss. Much like Berbatov this season. In fact, I think Berbatov's got a better strike rate for United. If he were such a big hit last season, Fergie would not have splashed out on Berbatov.

Without him we'd have been fecked. He was our second top scorer and scored important goals that led us to our league win. If he hadnt have popped up when he did we'd have lost the points we won the league by.
Less-so in the champions league because he didnt always play - but he scored a goal against Lyon, without which we wouldnt have continued in the competition.
Hit.
And we sold a striker and bought a striker.
Rubbish, we got Berbatov because Saha couldn't stay fit and we struggled to cope last season with only 2 fit strikers. Tevez has played the part we has been asked to play and I believe he has made a bigger impact on our attack than Berbatov has. Maybe not in goals but with him Rooney and Ronaldo up front we played some very penetrating, attractive football. With Berbatov our attack hasn't been anything near that of last year!
Keep saying it but we've got to give him till the end of the year before we can actually say how well he is doing and if he really is suited to this United side. He was terrific for me for about a month and now has gone back to the form he showed before the December.
Right, we splashed out 30m to replace a squad player? And if Tevez hasn;t made an impact by scoring goals then we should stop calling him an attacking. How about a Dirk Kuyt?
Tevez is about as good as Berbatov. They're both hit and miss.

Mate are you having me on? Look at the incredibly important goals he scored last season. He played an important part in our attack and defence. We spashed out because we have to continually improve our team, last season there were a few occassions where we only had one striker to field due to injury, something which we struggled with.
I'd agree with that. I mean if Tevez was such a hit as everyone claims then why are we still so dependent on Wayne Rooney?

because rooney is twice the player tevez is, flawless
Yep. He's a cut above both, if we're honest.
rooney would always be the first name on the team sheet for me.
i remember my brother-in-law last year asking me who i would choose if i could only keep one of either rooney or ronaldo and i had no hesitation really - rooney every time
well, Ronaldo's best is better than Rooney's. But Rooney's clearly been the better player this season.
Berbatov has scored important goals.
But if a goal every 2.52 is a hit and a goal every 2.23 is an epic fail, then I suggest you go back into your mother's womb, and hope everything makes more sense the next time around.
well i would agree that ronnie at his very best is better than rooney, but i do think that rooney helps ronaldo play that well ( if you know what i mean )
Tevez had to play the first stretch of the season alone up front when he quite clearly wasnt fit. We didnt have any other strikers, so he was all.
He scored important goals against Chelsea and a match winner against Liverpool on the road to us winning the league by 2 points.
He scored a goal that kept us in the competition against Lyon in the champions league, on the way to win the champions league.
We paid a small amount for the privilege. Not £30 million to ruin what we had.
Berbatov has scored against Chelsea when we were already 2 goals up and they were stunned. He took advantage of the awful away record of Celtic and scored 2. He scored 2 more against a side even Man City got past in europe. And these are the things he has done of note. Yes he has scored some other goals, some match winners against poor opposition... The reason they were match winners is because we have only managed to get by some ordinary teams this season by a single goal because our attack hasnt functioned as well as it did before he arrived.
Maybe. I think Ronaldo's playing a different role this season, and more importantly would rather be elsewhere. I think it's probably a mental thing more than anything else. Which why I would've sold him in the summer. No point keeping a player who would rather be elsewhere.
