Berbatov

You also said "Not huge no, but enough to bring the stats into perspective..." based on a five game difference. There is now a two game difference the other way.

This is also true. And thats why I asked for the games played stats. I didn't know ^

Eh, you said that AFTER you got the amount of starts each made during those two years in the premiership you asked for.

Just forget it anyway.

I'm starting to get a wee bit excited about berbatov playing for us.

What strikes me about him is that he makes goals from nothing, seems to gently encourage the the ball into the net from random angles, rather than just belting it. quality finisher.

FFS this has gone too far with photoshops, pics, plans and even line ups with Berbatov on it.

I wouldnt even want to think what would happen if he doesn't come.

Erm yes. And when did I say the 2 starts more Rooney made more than Berbatov dont make a difference?

Though of course, that takes into account Rooney playing against champions league standard sides.

Wot on earth. You said the thing about perspective after the prem stat when Berbatov played more games, stop playing stupid. You did not ask for the stats in all competitions, I just gave them you. Not that it makes any difference anyway when they are the second and third most productive prem players in that period.

Though of course, that takes into account Berbatov playing for Spurs instead of the best team in Europe.

"Wot on earth" ?

Berbatov has played 5 more games in the premiership in 2 seasons. Considering how productive both players are, those 5 games will make a difference on the goals and assists spread.

You brought in all competitions, where Berbatov has 2 less starts. I never said anything about that suddenly not bringing things into perspective :wenger: So you really had no point in your comments about bringing the difference 2 games the other way. The same goes, a few games can certainly make a difference regardless of who it is that played more.

Stop fishing for arguments.

Berbatov leaves Spurs

Bulgarian hotshot Dimitar Berbatov last night agreed to a 4½ deal with Newcastle United, with the Londoners set to receive £10million. Despite reported interest from Manchester United, the Bulgarian opted for a transfer to his boyhood heroes.

I know it's not funny. I'll take my coat..

 Ekeke you absolute cock, do you do this on purpose. All I have said is you said the comments about perspective after the stat where Rooney had played less games as is shown above. I then gave you the other stats which you did not ask for and you said this is true thats why I asked for them. You did not, you asked for the prem stats.

Stop fishing for arguments.

Pathetic argument alert!

No it won't.

5 games represents about 7% of the total league games played. A 7% fluctuation in the total minutes on the pitch for either player won't make either of them seem significantly more effective than the other, in terms of goals and assists.

As for your conclusion that these data represent "two good seasons" for both players, this is also not justified. It is just as likely to represent one good season and one mediocre season from two superb players, playing for two of the most prolific goal-scoring teams in the league (my personal theory)

Over the last two years, at the European stage Berbatov scored

once against Besiktas (2006 Group stages)
twice against Club Brugge (2006 Group stages)
once against Leverkusen (2006 Group stages)
once against Dinamo Bucharest (2006 Group stages)
twice against Sporting Braga (2007, round of last 16)

once against Hapoel Tel Aviv (2007 Group stages)
once against Aalborg BK (2007 Group stages)
once against Anderlecht (penalty, 2007 Group stages)
once against Slavia Prag (2008, round of last 32)
once against PSV Eindhoven (2008 round of last 16)

Some decent sides there (certainly not all Champions League quality, but still alright), good scoring record.

There we go, more directly now. :wenger: Would you like to talk about Berbatov or have an argument?

Its entirely justified as its my opinion.

And the point was that it makes a difference and will put into perspective the listed assists and goals. Regardless of whether Rooney has played 5 less, or two more or even if they played the same number of games and minutes over the course of a season, it does put it into perspective.

Totally agreed but when people frustratingly talk nonsense on a consistent basis it can happen sometimes. This is an anonymous forum after all im sure you will survive the brutality of it.

You are unbelievably pretentious. To be honest Ekeke I think im going to step off this pedantic merry go round you seem to like to go on with several posters, its boring. Im sure you will find another poster to annoy. Its been emotional.

I'm sure we'll hear no more about it. Fair enough, have a nice day.

I'm gonna leave it there because you obviously have a unique interpretation of what it means to put something "into perspective" and I don't think I will be any the wiser for hearing it.
