Berbatov

Bound to happen, especially after we reported Real Madrid to FIFA. If we don't like it happening to us, we shouldn't do it to other clubs, it's as simple as that.

You couldn't fecking script this summer. First the Ronaldogate now the Berbasaga! Whats next?

Yes, of course it's true when he talks to the sun...

The Sun does not invent quotes like that from Fergie. If they have, then I expect we'll see him sue the paper - don't hold your breath.

"We have made Tottenham an offer on Berbatov and we have good expectations that this deal will go through," Ferguson told The Sun.

"Berbatov has been impressive during a long time and would be a great addition to our attack."

While Ferguson admits there are still issues to be resolved with Spurs, including the price of the £20million-plus striker, he is happy to bide his time to ensure a successful pursuit.

"I think time will work for us more than against us," said Ferguson, who is with the United squad in South Africa on a pre-season tour."

Is that enough quotes for you?
.

You're mental!!! Even the The Sun don't claim they got these quotes from an interview with Fergie.

You've just printed the original story in the BBC (which has been fixed) that claimed that The Sun actually interviewed Fergie.

Go look at the updated article in The Sun and make your apologies.

Your chairman is going to look very naive.

GlastonSpur are you not slightly annoyed that Levy has made that passionate speech accusing people of all sorts and then said things like...

"I have absolutely no wish to sell either player and to date we have not accepted any offer for either. However, when a player's head is turned and their commitment is absent, particularly when they occupy key positions such as that of striker, they become a negative influence in a team dressing room in which they were once a positive addition and influence. This is the situation we now have on our hands, with both Dimitar and Robbie having made it clear that they wish to leave for Manchester Utd and Liverpool respectively.

"Irrespective of the outcome and futures of Robbie and Dimitar, we are continuing to seek to bring in quality, talented players for the future, who want to play in a Spurs shirt."

If he is so annoyed he should be saying there is no way they are going anywhere and they are under contract. No?

Thats what our stance was on Ronaldo.

It doesn't matter which media organisation first carried these quotes, they have not been denied by Fergie have they?

Levy is not the type to make such a statement unless he was very, very sure of his ground and had plenty of solid, documented evidence. His statement refers to such evidence.

it's only been a few hours relax a little. unlike your chairman apparently fergie has plenty of other business to attend to than read the sun and other journo trash.

Fergie obviously had no need to deny them, maybe ever he was not aware of them since he's been out of the country with the team. We all know - Levy included - those quotes appeared in the media. Whether they were true no one - Levy included - knows.

If Levys evidence is this article in The Sun then he is going to be a laughing stock.

It's not Fergies job to disprove every dodgy story in the tabloids.
If Levy has a problem with a story then he rings United and asks them about it first if he has any sense.

A Premier League spokesman tonight said: “We confirm we have received complaints from Tottenham in relation to alleged breaches of Premier League Rules K3 and K8, which govern approaches to contracted players.

“The Premier League board will now write to the parties concerned to ask for their observations before considering the appropriate course of action.”

..........
You really think Fergie is waiting around doing nothing to immediately deny such comments when he is currently on his way to or in South Africa already preparing for a pre-season game tomorrow? Surely you a are not that naive?

The earliest a denial or rebuttal from Fergie and co will come out is tomorrow.

The Sun.

THat's not good enough. You'll have every paper carrying stories about what hypocrites United are etc. They'll all be talking about how terrible Fergies quotes in The Sun were.

Better to get the word out to the media that Fergie did not have an interview with The Sun and put some pressure on Custis to explain.

When he has to admit he got them from a United fansite which were soon removed it's going to look bad for Levy.

Alex Ferguson to Levy, Glaston and the PL - youse are all fecking idiots

Trust me it will be sweeter if United react slowly and calmly. And point out what we both know. That Levy has taken "The Sun" as gospel truth. When they most likely were just putting words in Fergie's mouth.

Just great. Ive seen the recent comments from Spurs and this is starting to annoy me now. We look like fools and I can see another transfer saga developing here. Berbatov needs to hand in a transfer request for our bid to go any further.

He's simply stating the honest reality that Spurs have been damaged by what's occurred and that it's difficult - if not unwise - to keep players who no longer wish to stay. It won't stop Spurs from making any Prem buyers of these two players pay through the nose until they bleed.

The fact is that there is a line of behaviour between clubs, which if breached, starts to turn the whole transfer system into chaos and anarchy. That line is increasingly being broken, not least by clubs which complain the loudest when it happens to them. It is in no club's long-term interest that this line is not quickly re-instated and re-inforced with cement.

In a separate vein this mutual long-term interest is why, despite the Wilson ruling (or whatever it's called), there is an unwritten, gentlemans' agreement between club chairman that no club will ever exploit that ruling for short-term gain, so avoiding all clubs suffering the long-term consequences. So far that agreement has held.

Thats what our stance was on Ronaldo.
Was? The summer is not over yet.
