Berbatov

I'm gonna leave it there because you obviously have a unique interpretation of what it means to put something "into perspective" and I don't think I will be any the wiser for hearing it.

Sure okay. Because games played have abolutely no effect on how many assists and goals a player might have scored.

Enjoy your vaccuum of logic.

The scousers on RAWK reckon Robbie Keane is gone for a medical with Liverpool.

feck Spurs if they play hardball with us and drag things out just because they think United have more money.

There's no reason United should be paying more for Berbatov than Liverpool pay for Keane considering they are about the same age (unless of course Barca also want Berbatov but nobody else wants Keane).

Seems like most Spurs fans don't want Keane to go but will not mind seeing the back of Berbatov.

Jealousy, we have been the common enemy for years now.

I thought Chelsea had shouldered most of it.

feck it, what's £5 million in the grand scheme of things...

Richardson?

Kleberson?

The cream always rises to the top.

Tottenham have reported us and Liverpool to the Premier League.

Forget about a nice easy transfer!!!!!!!

Nice work United.no, you've really fecked up with your "quotes"

Thank feck this is going to screw over Liverpool as well.

Except he's contracted to Spurs so they can ask for whatever they like.

United should be prepared to pay the going rate for a pleyr who is one of the best forwards in Europe - and a key player for his current club.

There has been substantial speculation in respect of the futures of Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane, including press comment from both Sir Alex Ferguson and Rafa Benitez. In response our Chairman, Daniel Levy has made the following statement:

"Today's public comments by Manchester United's manager, announcing that he has made an offer for Dimitar and is confident that the deal will go through with time working in their favour, is a blatant example of sheer arrogance and interference with one of our players. It is also probably one of the worst offences by any manager in the Premier League to date and is unbelievably hypocritical given his recent comments in respect of Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid.

"This comes after a series of events, dating back to last summer, which have shown Manchester United to be in breach of Premier League (PL) rules. As a result, we have today made an official complaint to the PL about the conduct of Manchester United. Benitez made similar comments in respect of Robbie recently and we made an official complaint to the PL about the conduct of Liverpool earlier this week.

"The behaviour of both clubs has been disgraceful. We told both clubs very early on that we had no interest in selling Robbie or Dimitar, respectively, and that they should refrain from pursuing the player. Both clubs arrogantly chose to ignore this request and we now have evidence that both clubs have systematically been working to prise the players away from us, outside of PL rules of conduct.

"Our subsequent position has been severely compromised by both clubs making their intentions widely known and indeed making contact with the players and their agents, without the Club's permission.

"I have absolutely no wish to sell either player and to date we have not accepted any offer for either. However, when a player's head is turned and their commitment is absent, particularly when they occupy key positions such as that of striker, they become a negative influence in a team dressing room in which they were once a positive addition and influence. This is the situation we now have on our hands, with both Dimitar and Robbie having made it clear that they wish to leave for Manchester Utd and Liverpool respectively.

"Irrespective of the outcome and futures of Robbie and Dimitar, we are continuing to seek to bring in quality, talented players for the future, who want to play in a Spurs shirt."

Sounds more like he's paving the way for both players departure.

Silly thing for SAF to say though especially after the way Real have treated us this summer.

Oh well time will only tell.

Damn, didnt know that. I think they are in all their rights to protest and retain their best players.

Fergie thought he was speaking off-the-record to those fecking Norwegians. He didn't give those quotes in an interview with The Sun.

fecking noggie idiots.

I don't think there is a United fan around that will blame Spurs for reporting us especially after the summer we've had.

This will surely make the negotiating a lot harder but i'll stick to my earlier comment and again reiterate that i think Spurs are paving the way for both players departure without enduring the wrath of the fans.

Hey Glaston its seems Your team is really pissed off. What you think is gonna happen cause it will be hard to keep two players wanting out?

I also recogn Spurs are right to defend their interests in this situation. thought Utd made a bid and talked with the club first but looking at the chairman declaration it wasnt like that.

SAF should really have known better in all honesty mate.

MUFC will be fuming over this, especially after being backed by pretty much every major club in europe over the Ronaldo/madrid situation.

We look like hypocrites.

All United need to do is publicly blame The Sun for publishing quotes that they can't back up because they did not get them from an interview with Fergie.

It's rare for Levy to comment publicly on anything like this - and what might have been relatively plain sailing if MUFC had played it cool and decently is now out the window. Both players will still be sold I think, but Levy will play even harder hardball now. He's clearly very angry.

Fergie has only himself to blame - unbelievable arrogance to publicly say he's after Berbatov and expects to get him, never mind the undoubted tapping up.

Spurs never comment on any of their transfer targets until they are done, or have given up, unless it's to deny that they are interested. Sanctions from the Prem. League heading your way methinks.

The point that I find weird is that, SAF didn't use berbatov name. He just said they made a bid for a player and they are confident of getting him . Its the media that has linked berbatov to the nameless player. Spurs shud sue the media

The damage is already done. We look like hipocrites now.

Ronaldo is really a slave. :nervous:

Can't really argue with what Spurs have said, especially after our stance towards Madrid.

Only chance of getting him is if Berbatov hands in a transfer request.

If the quotes are false as some are claiming then Fergie will obviously say something in due course. Especially with the apparent hypocrisy in terms of Ronaldo. Also, the quotes about them both wanting to leave and that their heads are turned are telling. This stance in no way means they will not sell Keane or Berbatov.

There will be no sanctions imposed on United by the Premier League. The quotes in the Sun were made up by some Norwegians.

Where did Fergie publicly say this??

I think we're going to be seeing a very public climbdown by Levy very quickly.

spot on. the guardian says he refused to name the player they bid on.

"We have made Tottenham an offer on Berbatov and we have good expectations that this deal will go through," Ferguson told The Sun.

"Berbatov has been impressive during a long time and would be a great addition to our attack."

While Ferguson admits there are still issues to be resolved with Spurs, including the price of the £20million-plus striker, he is happy to bide his time to ensure a successful pursuit.

"I think time will work for us more than against us," said Ferguson, who is with the United squad in South Africa on a pre-season tour."

Is that enough quotes for you?

I think we're going to be seeing a very public climbdown by Levy very quickly.
Hell will freeze over first.

Sounds like Levy's a Sun reader. Anyway, if he really means business, he simply shouldn't sell. If that's the issue. I guess it's just to show the Spurs fans that they've been hard done by. . .they'll be going mental once they sell their best two players.

No mark club.
