Birmingham City v Manchester United

4 -5-1 4,3,3.

Not been a fan of either this season in all honesty.

Don't be so pessimistic, lads. That's a top class midfield. We'll have too much for them.

Park HAS been playing well of late.

And we do have some good reserve on the bench. Just have to gather up our tempo right from the off.

Looks like we're parking the bus. Team devoid of creativity, fantastic.

It's basically our strongest front six except with Scholes in for Berbatov. I don't think any of our strikers warrant a start. Scholes isn't exactly uncreative now is he.

I expect us to dominate possession and create a good number of openings.

Impact players on the bench.

Diouf on the bench people. This will be 4-5-1 and we'll see how it works. If it ain't working, then bring Diouf on and go 4-4-2. He has arrived people, The One is here

He's got more quality than he's credited for. His movement could be useful against a packed defence..

Yes, hes good in a 442 where he can link up with Rooney, and where his runs off the ball are more effective in leaving space for two strikers up top. This formation doesn't suit his qualities at all, the position requires a more creative force, which Park isn't.

Hopefully he'll produce a performance today after some of the stick he's taken of late.

I think he could have a decent game, I don't think Birmingham will bring a high-intensity pressing game, so should be more time on the ball for him to play his cross-field passes.

Just need to support Rooney as much as possible today, from wide and from midfield, I'm guessing a lot of that will fall to Fletcher, as he's the real drive and energy in that midfield three

What the yous talking about! It is a very similar lineup that we started with against Pompey and West Ham and we scored 4 goals against them. Delighted Berbatov isn't in the squad. Hopefully he will actually think to himself that he might have to work to get his place in the team!

The midfield looks strong, creative and solid. That will be the key to the game. If they all do their jobs well and dominate possession then they shouldnt allow Rooney to become isolated up top. Either way we can switch to a 4-4-2 with Owen or Diouf if necessary.

Is Rooney not creative?

Of course, but he can't do it all on his own. He wont create chance after chance. He'll have two on form defenders on him all game and he'll try drifting out to the wings. When we play 4-5-1, he rarely stays central so at times we have nobody forward to pass to. He can't come deep to collect either in this formation.

Carrick is the only other proper creative player in the team but I doubt he'll be far forward. Park is null and void in this formation and Valencia can cross but lone striker Rooney wont be getting on the end of many. It's the formation and personel that you'd expect to see in an away leg of a Champions League knockout leg, and even then it would be too negative.

Diouf on around the hour mark hopefully.

Won't happen Fergie said that he might be involved so people would forget about the lack of new signings for a moment. Crap I have turned into a real cynic...

All doom-mongers, no hopers and negative people, no offence or anything but just feck off.

We might win today, we might not. Let's just get behind the eleven lads out there. All this 'where is Giggs?' and 'why Park?'. Just get behind whoever is on the pitch.

COME ON UNITED!!!

I would, but it's difficult to do when you're not in the ground...;)

Anyway, I'm off.

My prediction 3-0: Park hattrick.

No silly fouls by Brown I hope today. Larsson is deadly.

You have the right spirit but this current United team can't get me excited at all:o

1649: Dimitar Berbatov has indeed dropped out of the Manchester United team - and isn't even on the bench. Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs come into the team, as Wayne Rooney plays in the middle of what looks like a front three. Birmingham unchanged.
