5 live just said Berbatov being left out.

I know that overall he's flattered to deceive, but it's harsh that he gets the bullet after that Leeds match.

To be honest, without him in the side, I worry about us creating chances. We need Giggs to be in form today.

St Andrews is not the sort of place you want to go devoid of any invention. They're already obdurate and well organised.

Could be a frustrating day.

Our most consistent line up with Rooney up top in my view.

Yeah. It obviously pains me, given that I want that Rooney-Berbatov partnership to get up and running.

But this is probably our strongest line up. That midfield three has the potential to be very good for us. It's got a beautiful balance.

I'm not sure it's that harsh for him to be dropped after the Leeds game

I'd say given the fact that he did create our most presentable opportunities, it is harsh.

He, as usual, was one of the biggest receivers of criticism after the defeat. He wasn't brilliant, but there were a hell of a lot of players out there who performed pretty abjectly.

feck sake. If hes not going to play Berba in every game then sell him.

Rooney isolated, yet again no doubt, with Ferguson hoping for a hard fought midfield battle, where we'll come out on top and get the plaudits for a narrow, unconvincing victory while getting comments like 'we grinded out a result'...

4-3-3 is what I'm hoping for, we need to win the midfield battle. Rooney, Giggs and Valencia will do the business upfront.

To be honest, from what I've seen of Birmingham, I wouldn't be worried about the "midfield battle." We'd get by fine with Carrick and Fletcher in there.

They defend deep and compact and use the pace of their front men (which is concerning given how Leeds used that ploy so successfully). Their midfield is essentially a defensive screen. We'll get a lot of possession today, which is why I'm hoping we've got some creativity out on the pitch.

:( be prepared for another shitty unconvincing 4-5-1 display of little creative football and genral uninspiring stuff with Rooney cutting an isolated figure all game.

It's not the worst thing, so long as Giggs and Valencia really keep the width. We're in for a long day if the wingers have an off day.

I just dont like us playing 4-5-1 against these sorts of teams, whats wrong with Berbatov anyway does anyone know? hope its not his knee yet again...fergie said nothing yesterday about any injury to him so seems rather sudden.

Injury is the word on the grapevine. Frustratingly, he does seem to pick up a hell of a lot of knocks doesn't he?

To be honest, I prefer 4-5-1 than playing Owen and Rooney up front. Maybe if we had another striking option up front...

Chelsea were held to a 1-1 draw at St Andrews, but they created a lot of openings. We should get chances today. Especially if we try to stretch the game as much as possible.

RE Diouf: Is he Senegalese? Why isn't he at the ACN?

I think it's just bs that he is carrying a "knock" again. It's just a cover up from Fergie in order to avoid questions about why his 30 million striker isn't playing.
