Bluemoon goes into Meltdown

Disparity will be less than Ann Arbor. Chinese came to the party later, plus City have gone after China as a target market. We'll have more, but not like Northern USA where everyone is a United fan.

I have travelled a lot in Asia due to work (indonesia, Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia, China etc.), and for every City replica shirt you see you see 10 United replica shirts.

China is too big a market for us to not focus on, North America is ours already, Europe is already split up between the top teams, South America belongs to Barca \ Real, Asia excluding Asia is largely ours already, only China remains. And we will put an effort in, be certain.

Kinda agrees with my point: we've already 'won', North America; China is a younger market so less disparity between us.

Pep has never been about the razzmatazz or headlines, that's for your manager. If we were signing pogba for 100m it would bring so much unwanted attention and pressure. Don't get me wrong from a football perspective id love pogba, I think he's class, but pep definitely likes to do things differently.
Like when he signed Zlatan to Barca? Yea you're right that was devoid of any headlines.

Edit: Nevermind, I see someone already beat me to it.

I suspect "red" meaning good fortune and happiness, would give us a massive advantage, even if we'd only started a few months back ( same as them) but we've been one of their favourite teams for a long time. If they have blue seats for the city fans, that could stand out .......if empty.

I only see barca and United shirts with any regularity in Japan. The odd Chelsea one here and there and a few Liverpool.
I have yet to see a City one. Maybe it's because of the language. City is pronounced Shitty. When anyone mentions them, I always say I didn't hear and ask them to repeat it a few times.

He is not seen as one of our own, you are right about that. But you just know that the press would milk the "Pogba rejects United to go to City" angle for all it was worth, and so would City. Also the customary "I chose the biggest club in Manchester" press conference would be guaranteed.

I disagree on the pulling power. We can match \ outbid you when it comes to wages, and we will do so moving forward. It is sort of like a Spanish scenario with Athletico and RM, most players would choose RM, simply because of the history, aura, prestige and marketing, as opposed to Athletico which has every bit as much a mouthwaterhing project going on. I sort of feel like you have missed your golden chance so to say, financially and for wages we couldn't compete with you right after the Sheikh takeover due to our massive debt and stingy owners, now we are on par financially. Also I feel like you haven't had the success you should have had in our barren years, you must realize that we have basically had two clowns in charge for three years that couldn't have done a better job at reducing our chances of winning and diminish our standing in world football if they were hired as City agents. Now I feel that there is a new dawn at Manchester United, the money is there, the manager is there and the whole vibe is different. I honestly believe that we will now attempt the galactico route with £100-200m for each and every transfer window, which we with nearly £600m turnover and a close to 40% yearly increase in turnover (and that is without any form of success on the pitch) are quite able to do.

Exciting times ahead indeed. And I think that the fact that a commerically and income\expenditure driven club is able to compete with you, psg, chelsea and the other sugardaddy clubs are quite a feat, and a testament to a brand building and commercial nouse that could rival that of Apple.

I understand what you mean but I don't think United have the pull of Madrid and I think City are more attractive than Atleti because we are in a different financial league. I agree United seem to have taken on the Madrid model though and I do think that will propel you to new heights, especially once you're back in the CL

City haven't signed Pogba because of a factor of reasons I imagine. I doubt we'd be able to afford Pogba under FFP with our other deals. We looked into him last summer but clearly haven't revisited it this summer.

Where did I say we haven't signed him because we didn't want the pressure or attention. That's a bonus in my eyes. As I said, on footballing teams I really rate him and I like to see him in our starting 11 but you can't deny a £100m deal comes with baggage. But continue twisting my words if it makes you happy.

Erm right here..

I'm just quoting you verbatim. I think we were all waiting for the inevitable frenzy of excuses from a load of over anxious City fans but this is a new one on me. Bizarre.

We want to become the biggest club in the world.

We don't want any undue attention or pressure.

"If we were signing Pogba for £100m it would bring so much unwanted attention and pressure" meaning we would be under huge pressure to succeed and if we failed the press would be quoting the fee at every turn. It would be like Sterling last season. For me that's something I think is a blessing in disguise. However that's my own feeling on the matter, not once did I say the reason City weren't in for him was because of that. You do know I'm not the club's spokesman?!

Also why is it an excuse... I've said right underneath it I think Pogba is class! You're very defensive.

Backtracking. A precis...

You've posted this in reference to Pogba probably coming back to OT. A clear inference that Pogba has been avoided due to Pep somehow not wanting the scrutiny that would bring. It's the lamest excuse I've heard yet for any high profile team missing out on a big signing - your manager doesn't want any attention??? FFS

Yet Pep wanted Bayern to break the bank for Neymar.

Now now, don't muddy the water with facts.

City fans seem to forget that Pep didn't need to spend much at Barca because of what he inherited (although he dropped £40 million on David Villa and £30 million on Alves), and that he also inherited a stellar squad at Bayern and a club that has a policy against exorbitant spending.

But we weren't even in for Pogba this summer were we? Certainly doesn't seem that way from all the reports I read. It seemed like Madrid was your only rival for his signature but they have baulked at his asking price. If you want to claim it as some sort of victory over City then go ahead. Seems petty considering you're about to sign one of the best young central midfielders in the world but hey.

60m on Zlatan and 30m on Chrgrynsky too, lest we forget...

I'm not claiming anything you are. Reports are now out that City were in anyway.

City tried hard last season but the demands (not the fee, the add-ons) were ludicrous so we reluctantly walked away.
He's an excellent player and whoever he plays for this season will benefit greatly from his presence.

So this thread is of the rails. Thanks to City fan in peace (supposedly). I think there's a thread for serious City discussion but every now and then you get City fans here trying to reason the stuff from Bluemoon or to act as their lawyers.

Also I like their usernames. Polite poster, Cityfaninpeace and Gentleman Jim. Some nice folk it seems. :D

Second time this thread had been derailed by City fans in a matter of weeks.
This really is an accommodating forum. If this was RAWK or Bluemoon, bans would have been flying left, right and centre.

Clubs have to pursue economic opportunities but it all has a slight, depressing tinge of colonialism about it. On the one hand of course it's good that people from around the world have the opportunity to follow anyone or anything they want to; on the other hand the 'anyone or anything' is usually fairly predictable, following the reach of former empires and spheres of influence. The effort 'we' are putting in is largely just taking advantage of what happened in the past.

If you're new at rawk and you post a negative mesage you are immediately put on watch. Those guys are hilarious.

Agree with everything bro but what does this mean?

Ah, feck. Asia excluding China was what I meant. My travelling experience is largely outside China, but I've been there one time albeit just in a shipyard. Didn't see too many United kits, maybe a few. I think in Asia China is the country where we haven't explored all the marketing opportunities yet, all the other Asian countries I have travelled to have had a lot of United fans. Also China is fecking huge and the marketing potential there is even greater than North America, I am sure Woody and co is on it.

I always assumed that city would be quite popular in China for the sole reason of Sun Jihai.

The fact you have been bankrolled to a larger extent than any other team in history and Last season fielded the second most expensive squad in the entire world should be pressure to succeed.

With that kind of millstone round your neck you don't get to decide to play without unwanted attention and pressure, just like United don't.

AKA The Sultans of Smarm!

Bluemoon being classy as usual (Upcoming United vs City thread)

Poster 1: We lost the preseason charity shield to them and Rooney called it a "proper footballing lesson." It was actually a precursor to the 6-1 thrashing at Old Trafford and our 2012 championship.

Poster 2: Thanks for reminding us. They were clearly worried then and how right their worries turned out to be!

Poster 3: I think the moment he said that was the moment I hated him the most in a long history of hating him. The look on the rag players (and fergie's) faces during the 6-1 and the aguerooooo moment was redemption.

Poster 4: Add Bobby 'TheTout' Charlaton & his miserable ugly wife to a long list of suffers. We've made them loathsome vile bastards suffer in the last few years. Must keep our foot on their throats !!

Think mod deleted poster 4's post just now atleast! ---- "By all means hate the rags but let's not have silly comments about their family please as there is absolutely no need."

Deleted the Pogba thread

34,000 posts in the old thread, 3,000 in the new thread. 37,000 unwanted posts on Pogba deleted like it never happened .

It's ok, we've got @Bicks

There is a Pogba thread in their general forum now, think its the same one and they just moved it there.

I can't believe how bitter they come across.

Calling us vile after coming out with that. :/
