Bolton Wanderers v Manchester United

Any confirmation on Rooney being absent

I wonder if Macheda could be a surprise inclusion on the bench if Rooney isn't involved

I swear I'd not seen the team, just remember SAF saying last season that when players return to training, they take two weeks to get upto speed before they are ready.

So thought he'd have an outside chance of being on it, thought it might be with Diouf on there as well mind

When other teams field weak teams up to the semi's aswell.

Note how we played a very strong squad in the semis and the final.

That team would not win a local derby at an improving Bolton side. I'd be shocked if it did.

Hope I'm wrong :nervous:

Bolton had a blip last weekend I think. I think that team could shock you, and remember there are a lot of impact subs, obviously Fergie's done a bit of man-management, but if he's picking Gibson you can bet there's a tactical reason for it.

I look at that midfield, I see Rafael/Evra very attacking fullbacks, we might see Carrick and/or Gibson covering these players.

Good to see Da Laet is back from his injury. Come on United.

fecks sake Rio.

The lack of Rio on the bench is a concern with his back, let's hope that's nothing more than a weekend off to help manage it

where rio and rooney ffs why left both of them out????

Can someone explain why our most overworked player Evra, never gets rested yet our most vital player seems to be rested ahead of CL matches?

Doesn't make sense. If Rooney is ripe for a rest then surely Evra is crying out for one

Maybe because :

a) People are different - some deal with this better than others

b) he is a defender - he can sit back during games if needed - whereas midfielders are required to work hard 100 % of the time

c) he is less injury-prone than others

Think Rio and Rooney might be rested by precaution, Ben's got it wrong here. You could see this team become an orthodox 4-4-2 with Giggs supporting Berbatov. Think we'll see Rafael against Bayern now.
