Bolton Wanderers v Manchester United

Whats wrong with Webb? Last season everyone here was happy he was referring United games. So if he gives decisions our way he is a good ref and if he gives decisions against us, then he is not a good ref?

Last time we lost at Bolton 1-0 Webb was horrendous. A while back now, tbf.

That is fantastic. Whos the most bias here to do a similar article for us?

Should give Fletcher 10 in ours.

It's full of so much bollocks it's unreal...Rooney, nearly 10 years in prominence at the top level in the PL and globally recognised as one of the Worlds top players, 9...Suarez, half a decent season in England and 12 months of being a vaguely known name- 10...feck off.

Why are so many suggesting we play 451 against fecking Bolton? Let them worry about us, not the other way around. They've been awful at the back so far this season.

Rooney and Hernandez up front. Nani, Anderson, Cleverley and Young in the midfield behind them.

Our away form last season was less than impressive though CW, surely at this stage in the season its best to play it a bit safe, get some wins under our belts then play a bit more dangerous?

I think the first team will have to change, international fixtures tends to have an impact on who we pick.

Shhh, If 'Pool don't have Webb, then they have nothing....We need to prop up their weird Webb fixation...Lest they realise we're actually better than them...Have you not read this!

Are United Really That Much Better Than Us? | live4liverpool.com

What a load of absolute bollocks, and even the most sane Liverpool fan would have to agree.

Liverpool - 147, Man Utd - 139

Young is better than Downing, Rooney is better than Suarez, Chicharito is better than Carroll and Nani is better than Kuyt. How anybody can say otherwise is beyond me.

tbh I just love that they Ngog as highly as Carroll.......and Berba the same as Rooney.

Nah. Screw that. Bolton have been woeful in their last 2 games whereas we've looked good, albeit at home.

Going with a more negative line up would play into their hands.

Amazing to see the difference in Rooney heading into this fixture this year and where he was last year. The game was in the same month that the prostitute news broke, he missed the game away to Everton as Fergie wanted to protect him from the inevitable chants and in the next away game against Bolton (his last start before his transfer request) he was subbed off for Macheda after 61 minutes when the score was 1-1. 12 months on, he has had probably his best start to a season yet, is looking fresher than ever and talking about beating Charlton's goalscoring record.

100 per cent agree. Actually I think going negative sends the wrong message and it begins to seep into the players minds that they're dodgy away from home. United began the season pretty well away from home we were 3-1 up on 90 minutes against Everton, for example. But once it gets into players' heads that the side can't do it on away grounds nerves creep in, usually solid figures lose their heads and it becomes a monkey on the team's back. Psychologically players start to believe if they're too adventurous they'll lose and that only encourages other teams to come onto them. We have to make a statement, we have to go to Bolton and say we're Man Utd we do what we want: try and stop us. Especially with all the young players we've got we have to promote a positive mental attitude you dont want relatively inexperienced players going out on to the pitch thinking they'll find it hard to win cos you can bet it'll become a self fulfilling prophecy in that circumstance.

Yep it took all the way to February last season to score 5 league goals. This season he has scored 5 in just two games.

I think one of the great challenges in football management is not to over think things. For instance, Vidic and Smalling are our defenders who really dominate the air, should Vidic not make it do we move Smalling inside to deal with Davis or leave things as they are with Evans and Jones.

If Evans plays, he's going to get bullied...count on it. Evans vs physical striker who isn't afraid to put himself makes me nervous.

Expect to win, but this might be a scratchy game.

Having creamed 2 of the 'top 6', does anyone find it strange that they are actually more worried about this one than those 2?

I know I am, they are far more likely to to put up a fight and be more physical than those soft southern pussies...

Bolton are my second team. Now that proper winds em up! They believe that Bolton are the biggest club in the world. The cheek that someone could have their beloved MASSIVE club as a second choice, a backup.... oh my! :smirk:

Because I lived near Bolton I know how much they hate us too. Seriously, they're worse than the Scousers, and at least on a par with Siddy.

I have to play 7 a Side verses 5 MIGHTY WHITE fans tonight. I'm gonna properly wind em up. I'll get globbered for it, but it'll be worth it

A nice 5 nil would setup next weeks game nicely :D

i hate these international breaks.
Caftards know that, believe me.

I searched your last 15 posts, with a word 'international'.

Where are you watching the game caftards? For me it's a 50 yard trip to the local (it's quiet in there which makes it easier to watch games).

Dedryck Boyata ready for new Wayne Rooney battle

On-loan Bolton defender Dedryck Boyata hopes his next game against Wayne Rooney is as successful as his first meeting against the Manchester United and England star.

The Manchester City defender could make his first appearance for Bolton against the Premier League champions at the Reebok on Saturday after completing his season-long loan move.

Boyata, then 19, was handed the task of marking Rooney in the Carling Cup semi-final clashes of 2010.

And while United eventually gained a 4-3 aggregate victory, the Belgian born youngster has fond memories of his first derby experience.

“I marked Rooney in that game so it was quite special,” he recalled after his official unveiling as a Wanderers player.

“We won that game as well so it was a good night for me.

“I am not fazed by playing against the likes of United.

“I have got to the stage where I should be able to play against anyone.

“Obviously, United have a good team but I think every single side should be able to play against them and show what they can do.

“Having said that, United and City have shown what they can do in the first few games that’s why they are on top of the table.

“So, it might be them for the league title but you never know what might happen. Obviously, I’d be happy if City can stay on top.”

Boyata was the subject of interest from three or four Premier League clubs as transfer deadline day approached.

Denied first-team opportunities at the Etihad Stadium this season, he decided to accept Bolton’s offer of greater playing opportunity.

“I was really happy when I found out I was coming here,” he insisted.

“It’s a great chance for me to play some games and show people what I can do.

“My agent and my dad had meetings with a few clubs. I wasn’t there but they came back and said they had a good feeling about Bolton.

“The gaffer (Roberto Mancini) was also very positive about me coming here.

“He knows I need some games and he advised me about going out on loan.

“I am still thinking my future is with City but I am here to play for Bolton. I am not going to think about City for now.”

Boyata’s arrival gives Trotters boss Owen Coyle plenty of defensive options.

His preferred role is centre-half but can fill in at right back.

However, England star Gary Cahill, for the immediate future, and Zat Knight look likely to be Coyle’s first-choice pairing. Cahill returns to club duties today when his future will be up for discussion.

Contrary to some reports, Wanderers don’t have an option in the player’s contract of keeping him for an extra year. So a player valued by Bolton at £17m could leave for nothing.

“My value of Gary Cahill was probably in excess of what the club would agree,” admitted Coyle.

“I’m valuing him as a manager and as a football person, not as the owner of a football club and someone who invests millions.

“Suffice it to say that no-one got anywhere near a lesser valuation than I had.

“Anyone that wanted Gary and thought he’d be a tremendous addition to their squad had all summer to try and sign him. It hasn’t come to fruition. Not even close. The so-called bids were nowhere near.”

You should see a shrink. How can you be so consistent? Don't you change your mind sometimes? :)

Don't joke about changing your opinion.

*Is not bitter in the slightest*

Anyway, we got any injury issues from the international games? I didn't pay much attention to them if im honest.

I wonder will we see a few changes freshing up lads who played 2 internationals with lads whio didn’t play at all. Young for Giggs maybe

Im interested to see how this new dynamic works without one of the prominent pieces being involved (Wellbeck) We shall see if Hernandez instead of Wellbeck alters the fast one touch play we are developing. It shouldnt because he has great first touch but still be interesting to see how effective it is without Wellbeck!

I was offered a ticket amongst the Bolton fans but turned it down.
