Bundesliga 2015/2016

If Schalke wins tomorrow, they are third and then it is a more usual picture with a surprise team in the mix, which happens quite often aswell.

Leverkusen is already under a bit of pressure vs. us, though.

Wolfsburg, Gladbach and Leverkusen (3/4 of last season's top 4) are absent though.
And Bayern are already far ahead.

As I write this Wolfsburg score

The current table looks like this:

13 Leverkusen 6 points
14 Augsburg 1
15 Hannover 1
16 Hoffenheim 1
17 Stuttgart 0
18 Gladbach 0

What a strange picture.
13-15 and Stuttgart play tomorrow though.

Top 4:

Bayern 15
Dortmund 12
Köln 10
Mainz 9

:wenger:
Köln really don't have any business in the top four, I agree. :wenger:

edit: Wolfsburg score. Makes the top end look much more normal.

And now Wolfsburg would be third, so Bayern/Dortmund - Wolfsburg - Schalke is a typical constellation in the top group in the last years.

Yes, now it seems much different. Still that live table reminded me about the underlying "problem" of Bundesliga, that there is little consistency among the top teams, aside from Bayern and maybe Dortmund - if you're generous enough to discount the last season.

Lukimya :wenger:

He was running away from goal, why would he foul him?

HAHAHAHAHA

Looks like no Champions League for Werder

Bremen ffs  What a disaster in the last 3 minutes.

Well there has been a void behind Bayernin terms of actual top clubs for a very long time. Leverkusen has been pretty consistent over the years, but lack the growth potential to become a serious contender. Dortmund and Wolfsburg have the ambition and tools to become that big second club. If they do their work well, the top 3 in the league would be pretty much set.

 @Sphaero 's favourite team scores :D

5th in the league now....

Imagine them in Europe, the embarrassments of Wolfsburg and Leverkusen during the week would be nothing compared to that. Were there actually supporter in the Bremen stadium??

They won't get anywhere close to the top 7. They're awful and incredibly lucky so far, they'll fight relegation at the end of the season, don't worry. But they might stay in if they continue to get results like today.

I know, they have a score difference of 3/4 ffs. On the other hand, we were the only team to actually score against them so far in the league :D

@Balu Just watched the full game of your club against Darmstadt. Aren't you bored sometimes?

Coman did well though, as did Rode.

Ingolstadt won't get European football but they won't get relegated either. They seem to be very organized as a team, even against Dortmund they created a few chances (of course they could've conceded a lot more too).
Darmstadt had a good start also but they will probably fade just like Paderborn did. Hannover is the strongest bet for relegation atm.

Gladbach are in horrible shape right now but they will start playing well eventually, Stuttgarts squad is also stronger than what they're showing atm.

Will also be interesting to see how Augsburg can handle the situation they're in this year. They look a lot more vulnerable in general and play many distracting European games.

Mainz are a positive suprise so far for me, after their horrible start they've managed to pick up a lot of points. Incredible how they can replace their key players each year when everyone expects them to drop off.

Hamburg fans laughing, look what the league has come to..

Sorry, I know Hamburg fans are not allowed to do that. :boring:

Surprisingly no. Obviously I'd welcome a close title fight, but I don't get bored watching us win.

Yeah, quite surprised how far in his development Coman already is. He's definitely a good option on the wing, way better than I thought he would be.

There is so much things you can see in such matches if you watch Bayern more often.

Yes. Coman surprised me, too. I did not know him before - just looked at his playing minutes and he just got some minutes for Juve when everything already was over last season.

The starting formation was too experimental for me today - but Vidal's goal probably was gold - else it would have gotten a lot more difficult.

Anyone know what was the deal with Darmstadt's banner "Bild not welcome"?

The signing I'm most jealous of this summer is Costa. He looks like the type of player we most needed.

It's a fan protest because Bild (tabloid) is seemingly trying to use the refugees for their PR.

Ah finally an answer. Ty mate was wondering what was the reason for the banner.

Bild is the biggest newspaper in Germany but they are very controversial. With the whole refugees debate going on they cooperated with the DFL and created a sticker that every team in the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga should wear on their jersey for this matchday. First every team accepted the offer to wear that sticker but a few teams declined the offer. Bild is very much known to not really being friendly towards refugees in the past and many people think it's just a pr campaign from their side.
The hashtag #Bildnotwelcome appeared after a few clubs didn't want the sticker and a few Bild journalists reacted in a very stupid manner.

Ty for the detailed explanation mate. I get it now.

Did i miss anything?

I´m not talking about their performances on the pitch, but rather about things around it. They both had home games in the CL and both did not even come close to fill out their pretty small stadiums. In Wolfsburg, one third of the stadium stayed vacant despite playing CL for the first time in over half a decade.

Anyone know what was the deal with Darmstadt's banner "Bild not welcome"?

It is a fan protest against the worst tabloid in the country, which now uses the refugee crisis for their own advantages.

EDIT: Damn, too late :p

It sucks that Regensburg is so fecking strong. They have won all their games; we have to win at least 4 points against them if we want to get promoted.
Regensburg finally lost a game, but so did we yesterday. Missed chance to close the gap. Still, Regensburg hasn't looked invincible recently anymore. They were incredibly lucky against 1860's 2nd team as well.

yeah. Saw that one against 1860. They are not invincible, but they have a strong squad for the 4th league and are already quite a bit ahead. My guess is that we need at least 4 points against them and I have my doubts. That said, I have seen only few matches of our second team at the beginning of the season and results suggest that we have improved.

edit: Rode is awesome. He should leave after the season and join Leverkusen/Gladbach. He is too good and nice to sit on the bench all the time.

No idea if he's interested in moving to England, but he'd be a tremendous addition for Liverpool and Tottenham and would fit perfectly into the Premier League.

It's not the winning part but the way the games seem to go most of the time. I never thought Darmstadt had much of a chance to be a threat to Bayern. They might've scored a goal, maybe even gotten the first one, but it was clear that Bayern was gonna win it. Not that the quality of teams in the BPL is that much better, but it seems like they at least go down swinging. Darmstadt never seemed to really give themselves a chance.

Maybe I'll have to catch the games against Wolfsburg and Dortmund.

To be more precise, in the past "Bild" has been very deliberately lashing out on refugees, "asylum seeking frauds" etc. Now the public opinion did change, they did likewise. With that background, St. Pauli, who has a very left-wing followership and both club and fanbase have a number of charity projects running already, decided they didn't like to participate in what clearly was more a PR stunt than anything else on behalf of "Bild".
The shit hit the fan when the "Bild" editor tweeted that apparently St. Pauli didn't want to support refugees.

You have to understand where Darmstadt is coming from though. They were near bankruptcy a couple of years ago, 10/11 they were playing 4th division, in 12/13 they finished on a relegation spot in third division and were only saved because another club didn't get its license and then they suddenly started getting promoted out of nowhere.

Afaik they don't have a sugar daddy, some of the players from their 3rd division days are still in the squad and the rest is at least partly made up by rejects of not so great clubs.

If the Transfermarkt data is correct they have spent a total (not net) of €1.2m on players in the past 5 years.

It's not just Darmstadt though, it was the same against Hoffenheim and Augsburg and while I didn't watch the full games, both times I started watching them Bayern was down 0-1.

I'm looking forward to it, but hope Bayern wins comfortably. I'm tired of all the people complaining about Guardiola. Bayern has flat out dominated the Bundesliga since he's taken over, always reached the semi-final of the CL and from there on, it's minor details that decide the games away and made it to the DFB cup final twice IIRC? And then you have someone like Hamann come out and say he grades Guardiola's performance a 5 out of 10 because he hasn't won the CL yet.

3? We only have two, Badstuber and Benatia? And to be honest, I think we're stronger at the back with Alaba left centerback and Bernat leftback than with Benatia in it.

I consider Martinez as a CB under Guardiola since he dominated the DFB cup final against Dortmund from that position. In my view the central position of a three-men backline was by far the best position for the Spaniard in Guardiola's tactical schemes. Javi is simpy not a single-pivot CDM and a bit too slow for central defence in a 4-3-3.

Yeah, it's totally insane and silly. Everything but the treble seems to be a failure for Guardiola, what a load of nonsense.

Why would you think it's boring if we turn around games in which we concede first? That certainly never gets old. It's nice that we don't dominate easily from start to finish in all games. I'd understand it if someone asked if it gets boring to annihilate Hamburg every year, but nope, that also never gets old :D.
