Chelsea vs Manchester United

You'll play 433 with Fletcher, Carrick and Anderson in CM. I reckon Rooney will play up top with Valencia and Giggs wide Berbatov on the bench.

This.

The only other variation would be Giggs in midfield instead of Anderson, Rooney out wide and Berbatov in. But i think it will be the way Pete said.

Reckon this will be correct and to be honest it's the only way I can see us not coming away with a defeat given Chelsea's form at home.

I think starting Berbatov and Rooney would be a bad idea for this one

Even if the results in the derby and the Arsenal match ultimately were in our favour, the performances against the league's better sides this year have hardly been what you'd be hoping for.

If Fergie has learned anything from this not to mention being aware of Chelsea's long standing strength in midfield, we shouldn't be going within a country mile of 4-4-2.

I'm half tempted to start with Rafael so as to compensate for our potential weakness attacking wise down the right flank. Not that we'll be employing conventional wingers of course, simply that none of our options on that side of the three are without their concerns.

I think 3 in midfield will get you at least a point, Chelsea aren't all that so maybe 3. On the other hand 4411 will get you zilch

another gem from PS who doesn't rate a team who have come mighty close to winning the CL for the past two seasons and now lead what is probably the most competitive league in the world. They are even in front of United:eek:

not confident about this one:nervous:

I know it's a bit of a cliché but but our fate will be determined in midfield, we must get that right at all costs.

Scholes -Carrick for me :nervous:

on more serious note- i'm worried as feck, i think Chelase will win the margin of the victory is the only question.

I'm expecting a very tense game (as per ussual in both a six-pointer and agaisnt Chavski) with loads of yellow cards shown. I'm only hoping that LeArse, Spuds, Shitty will dop points as well.

I think we generally play better football when Berbatov is in the team. I'd rather see him up front with Rooney on the wing, than Rooney as a lone striker.

Because he will come on and score the winner

thats a bold prediction

You dont think he would be better off from the start where he can have the majority of the game to work his magic and do something to unlock their defence?

Norjally am not keen on Rooney on the wing but i think Berba should be the lone man up top, as i can see him bring more players into play.

Scholes i think should be left.

Nani or Valencia, if either were to get a start i would prefer Nani. He has looked like doing something nut just lacked the final bit. Plus giving him a start in the big might just be the vote of confidence he needs. If neither were to play how about Obertan. Noone seen a lot of him, and he seems to be a direct player

After Machedas performance in CL, atleast im bench.

Normally always want three points or the win but if i was given a draw i would take. Utd give me win though

4/3/3

O'Shea, Vidic, Evans, Evra

Anderson, Carrick and Fletcher in m/f.

Valencia (who is going to have his work cut out against Cashley); Rooney; Giggs (and Evra down the left (right back spot is a potential weakness).

No reason we can't win it but I suppose I'll be happy with a point.

Just got my ticket and looking forward to it. :D

Can't see Berbatov being left out unless he's injured

You may be right - Think he's just about fit.

But Giggs in my view is a 'nailed on' certainty to play. Play him centre mid and leave Anderson out or play him wide on left with Evra and take advantage of a potential lack of pace at right back.

Personally don't want to see Rooney playing wide left.

Take your pick.

I dont think we can do without one of o shea and brown with chelseas physicality and aerial strength. With drogba essien and ballack we need to have as much of a presence as possible.

valencia on the wings should inject some pace

midfield of fletch giggs and anderson

I've had about three dreams where we win 2-3 and Berbatov scores the winning goal. I might go and put a bet on it haha.

Press conference this morning, with injury latest.

Ferdinand, Park out, Vidic is a concern but has been training. Pretty much confirms Ben's Twitter page.

Just watched that. Ferdinand was always out, while Park is obviously a big miss for this game - I would have expected him to be involved if fit. Vidic will play regardless I think. Everyone seems set on Vidic + Evans in the middle, but has anyone had a think about Brown + Vidic?

Evans was the defender more to blame against CSKA in my opinion, so Brown could have a shout for starting while O'Shea keeps the right back slot - I really don't see O'Shea not starting there. I think the only thing keeping Brown from starting in the centre of defence with Vidic is that Vidic and Evans have played more games in those positions together in the past. We'll see on Sunday, though.

Jacob's prediction:

Line-up:

------------------------VDS------------------------
----O'Shea-----Vidic--------Evans-----Evra------
----------------------Carrick-----------------------
-------------Fletcher-----------Anderson----------
----Rooney--------------------------------Giggs---
---------------------Berbatov----------------------

Score: Chelsea 2 - 1 Manchester United

Goals: Berbatov

Player to watch: Anderson

Got to be 451 and if we don't want Rooney to play on the wing then i think he should be on bench as i said before i think Berba up front and bring a lot more players in to the game.

The only recent example of Berbatov up front as a lone striker woudl suggest otherwise , no? CSKA away i'm referring to.

Rooney on the bench against Chelsea, we'd have to be out of our minds.

When Park is due back ?

i hate it when we play with lone striker, but with the way the defence played against Moscow, they need cover from midfield, i would play: 4-5-1, only for this game.

This could be bad, 4-0 Chelski

I actually think United will win 2-0 but why not fit in and be defeatist

If only we actually had a fecking striker capable of leading the line in a 4-3-3.

Like Ronaldo?? even though he wasnt a striker he made this system work for United

I think United would do well, just to play a 4-3-3 with 2 hard working players alongside Rooney.

VDS
O'Solid-Vidic-Evans-Evra
Valencia-Fletcher-Anderson-Giggs
Berbatov-Rooney

take the game to them, play with width, they would struggle to play against width, if anything then goes wrong we could change to

Fletcher-Anderson-Giggs
Valencia-Rooney
Berbatov

i just dont think thats a good idea, there is no denying our defence has been somewhat porous this season. I think we will concede to chelsea if we take them on and there wont be any coming back against that side if they are two ahead. Keep it tight, feel our way into the game and then try and get something i reckon. Best way to do that is with a 3/5 man midfield, but I guess we'll see what SAFs take is on sunday!

manchester united has always been about width, so why stop now becuase we are against a team that plays very narrow? no chance take them, they are on very shaky defensive form so why worry about our superior defence, only rio has been awful defensively and he wont play, so why overcompensate for a minor problem

the only way they dominate us is if we go there scared with a packed midfield, so why fall into that?

That's just wasting dreams. Once you've dreamed that once you should just move onto something else.

Shagging Scarlett Johansson or something?
