Nah, we'd probably make a shit ton of money from him anyway considering the adidas deal is structured differently from the Nike deal in terms of merchandise.

Maybe, he'd probably still demand 300k +.

There's just something that doesn't sit right with me about giving Madrid basically what they gave us for a player who chose to give his best years to another club. He's an exception i know, he'll probably get 30 goals a season at least, but at 30 already it's a gamble, and i'm not sure gambles are something we should be looking at in our position.

I highly doubt RM fans would boo Isco if Ronaldo made those gestures towards him, infact I actually think they might boo Ronaldo for making gestures towards Isco as the crowd absolutely loves Isco.

Bale knew what he would be getting joining RM and playing next to Ronaldo, I have absolutely no sympathy for him in this regard as he could have come to United and would have been THE star of the team where noone would be making gestures to him. Bale either needs to make him that valuable for Madrid that not even Ronaldo might cause the crowd booing him (like Isco or Modric) or needs to deal with it imho.
I don't feel sympathy for players. But if players are proper team players they should be more supportive of their fellow team mates rather than behaving like tits when they aren't in form. What bale "needs" to do is irrleevant. It's a team sport. Supporting each other isn't hard. Bale is a quality quality player.

Nah, I refuse to believe anyone actually doesn't want a top 3 players of all time in their team. We can easily support his wages by offloading Falcao who is almost on the same amount anyway, RVP should probably be sold as well, so that's another 200k a week. I doubt Mata wants to stay if he doesn't get game time, so add another 140k on top of that. I also don't think he will cost more than £60million, he is 30 years old, so Real would do well to get even that for him.

Anyway he's the current Ballon'dor winner and tbh I even think he could become our all time goalscorer if he continues even half his numbers in the Premier league. If you factor in the money he would make the club, this is a no brainer.

Let me ask you this, would you rather he joined Chelsea, City or Arsenal?

I find Ronaldo's behaviour unnecessary at times as I have already stated, but in that case if Bale was doing better for RM the crowd wouldn't have booed him, irrespective of Ronaldo. After all they are booing Casillas too and that has nothing to do with Ronaldo. Casillas of a few years ago wouldn't have bern booed. The same way nowadays Isco/Modric/Ramos (probably some others like Pepe or Kroos too) wouldn't be booed even if Ronaldo wrote an open letter to fans and asked to boo them. Blaming Bale's booing on Ronaldo thus doesn't make sense to me.

I'm not saying i wouldn't have him back, i just think 71m is ridiculous. And would he really make the club that much? I know we'd do more than sell his shirts but doesn't he maintain his image rights anyway?

At 30 years of age, one bad injury and his career could be effectively over. No one knows if he'll maintain his goalscoring record into his early thirties either, he could easily start to decline within the next year or two. So £60m transfer fee + £400k a week in wages, not a gamble I'd consider to be worth taking.

That money can be spent better elsewhere, and we should be looking to the future anyway. In that respect, Bale would actually be a better buy.

I'd have to take a deeper look into Madrids revenues for the last 6 years, but I do know he's made them a bucket load of money. Regarding shirt sales, I doubt we will recoup the whole £50-80million fee it would take to bring him here, but the club can definitely make most of it back.

Even without the financial side to his transfer, he's still a world class player in his prime, a guy who's scored 50 or more goals in 5 or more seasons(something that has never been done before). Not to mention we actually do need some quality on the wings, so it's not like he will make the squad for uneven.

I honestly wouldn't have him back, he's still a fantastic player but I feel he's slowly turning into a "it's all about me" type player.

I'm not blaming him for it. Neither of us are madrid fans to know how much is due to what reasons. I doubt it's down to that. I'm saying he shouldn't act like such a prat towards his team mates and be a bit more a team man. I'm glad our team has supported Falcao on the pitch despite him being absolutely terrible for us. I'm also glad our fans don't boo him like utter morons. On both counts, I prefer it that way.

Well that goes without saying, United fans are not spoilt like RM's and I hope it always stays like that. But Bale and Ronaldo are at Madrid and RM fans boo when they want, Ronaldo himself has been booed at times.

I'm not sure we'd even recoup most of it to be honest. I don't know how much money clubs make from shirt sales but if we made even half of that i'd be amazed. He's barely a winger anymore either, but one thing i won't dispute is his obvious quality. Him in a free role behind Rooney? Brilliant.

Absolutely. It took them time to warm to warm to Ronaldo which I found so very bizarre.

Well he is a brilliant player and I would want him here just cause it would automatically make us better. But boy, some of the things he does is the most cringeworthy laughable appalling nonsense i have seen.

After reading all the comments on the tram home I expected a full blow baby tantrum tbh.

What I saw was Ronaldo getting up from the floor after his attempt had ricochet around the box. Giving a raised arm gesture to bemoan his bad luck and then giving another when Bale's shot went in.

If there isn't any longer versions going around then it seems like classics Ronnie behaviour to me.

I think that was the point. No one said it was a massive drama as far as I can see, just that it's embarrassing...especially when it's not just a one off.

Ronaldos a dick at times but his record speaks for itself. If the club want the best players in England, what do they do? Say 'Not Ronaldo because he's a naughty boy?'. Would Bale have went to Madrid if Ronaldo was playing for United? Ronaldo does his job far better then most and what's more he works harder in training them most. You don't have to like someone to respect someone.

To be honest Bale should grow a pair and tell him to shut his fecking mouth or he'll pump his veneers down his throat.

Okay maybe not that harsh, but if it was me I'd be telling him to belt up, don't let people push you around.

i'm not saying i dont want him back, i'm also saying that he is not one of top 3 players of all time

maybe a top ten

Anything more than £40/50 million, and we shouldn't be considering the deal - and we all know that Madrid won't sell anything close to that figure.

It's best if we don't try and sign him. We need team cohesion - Ronaldo is a remarkable player, but he's not the player that'll move the club forward.

Who's better than him then? The only players I'd even put above him are Messi, Maradona and maybe Zidane. He's easily top 5 I think without question. Top 3 obviously seems debatable.

Have you seen loads of pele and di stefano then?

I actually completely understand his reaction to that. Friendly or not he was denied an absolutely brilliant goal by an utter brainless bit of play from Nani who not only headed it in from an offside position but headed it in when it was already on it's way to finding the net anyway

I agree that Nani's action is completely unnecessary, but:
1- Nani's not offside. Watch again.
2- The ball's past the goal line when he touches it anyway.

More than Nani, it was a feck up from the linesman. Proper refereeing and analysis would have the goal given to Ronaldo.

Really hope he kung fu kicks Real Madrid fans and they are forced to sell. The ban would carry over here though. On 2nd thought, Keep telling them to "go f**k themselves" after each game, Ronnie. That's safer to engineer the transfer back

I can't believe people are saying no to someone who scores 50 odd a season.

Ronaldo would win us the league, or at the very least put us second.

This, we'd win the league by some distance this year if we signed Ronaldo instead of Di Maria.

Just feels like he's turning more and more arrogant. You'd buy him just on principle really, but I wish he wasnt such a dick..

It suck that he gave his (most likely) best years to Real Madrid, i wish he never went there. He is still a great player although currently not in his best form.

I still would like to have him back at Old Trafford... Ronaldo + Manchester United = commercial dream. Besides that, he will improve the team and maybe di Maria and Ronaldo will recreate their Real Madrid partnership.

Loved him when he was here, but wouldn't want him back now. I think there was a real chance we were going to sign him two years ago before Fergie announced his retirement, but Cristiano isn't the same player he was two years ago, and he's the wrong side of 30. For the money we'd have to pay, no thanks. He can stay there, and if the fans boo him and make him miserable, well that's the bed he chose to lie in. He knew what he was getting into.

I'm sure a lot of fans would rather spend the £80m (guess) price on other areas but I would agree on the commercial bit, especially if we got back into CL I honest believe no matter what we paid for him it'd be mostly made back by the time he retired from new sponsorships and the likes.

However he does have reportedly £288,000 (After Tax) wages which I would guess is somewhere in or around £450-500k a week which sounds like madness but on the other side we pay RVP and Falcao about that a week between them and he'd double or even triple their combined goals while only taking up 1 spot of the XI.

It's a tough situation but when a player like Messi or Ronaldo becomes available there is as many pros as there is cons.
