He is an absolute machine. It is pure madness the sheer amount of goals he scores. Don't get the hate because they are tap-ins or whatever either. A goal is a goal.

Very soon to become Real Madrid's all time top scorer, possibly next match. Just 1 behind Raul for most goals for Real Madrid in Europe as well. Should hit 350 mark this season only. 350 goals in 7 seasons is unbelievable achievement. 50 goals a season on average. Many teams don't score that many in a season!

Incredible goal statistics, would have been keen to see if he could have replicated that had he stayed at United. Personally I think he'd have been hit the 30 mark each season in England, a lot of the Spanish teams simply roll over and a die for Madrid and Barca. In Premier league the majority of clubs are playing out of their skins every game, I just don't believe there is the same level in Spain beyond five or six clubs.

with the way we we miss penalties with alarming regularity i wouldn't mind a player being that lethal from the spot.

Nope, the top Premier League teams are just awful.

This is the thing really, can't understand why you'd ever want to downplay all the penalties when you've got our festival of being shite at it against Sunderland under Moyes or Messi bottling penalties in Copa del Rey.

Reading the stats on here, its quite incredible. And people still see the need to downplay his goals. 50 goals a season over a period of 7 seasons is just laughable.

Penalties, tap-ins... Still has to score them, be in the right place at the right time, etc., at some point, you have to admit that he is stupidly good at these things, however "deserving"/"undeserving" one may think it. Imagine Ronaldo on the end of all the chances we created just this season, he would be into double-digits already.

I don't see why the type of goal discredits him, only shows the level he's reached. OGS was never criticized for often being in the right place at the right time..

Oh, I'm not discrediting him at all, I'm in full agreement with you there.

Ironically it now seems that he won't be as hampered from aging. By developing into a striker of sorts scoring tap ins and headers (and pens) he's been smashing them in. Will soon pass Raul with much fewer games.

He's shit. Would prefer a player who controls the games, something that Ronaldo doesn't. Scoring 8 goals in 2 matches, and averaging over 50 goals for a seasons (in the last 6 seasons, this one will be 7 means all in my book). He'll likely reach 700+ goals in his career, but could he make fancy passes?!

Great player, regardless of the manner in which he scores. An absolute beast when it comes to sheer weight of goals.

People need to understand that him scoring doesn't mean it's an insult to Messi (even if he's not mentioned by name), and vice versa. Just appreciate them for what they are, two genuinely stupendous players.

Goalscorer extraordinaire. He still has a good few years left in him at the top IMO. And this Madrid side is the perfect fit for him too.

Yeah as long as he has service he'll score so he could keep going until late 30's if he really wanted playing a role. Still if he does eventually lose any real pace or acceleration he might slow down in his numbers

I doubt it will be late 30's. 3 years or so for sure.

Not really surprised, he has a very good record at bashing Champions league minnows.

He has a very good record against the giants and top teams of Europe too. He has 10 goals in he CL semi-finals which is more than any other player.

He's absolutely phenomenal, can score any type of goal and manages to remain consistent.

Plus as a human being he comes across very well.

Maybe scoring when the team is already winning 2-0 or 3-0 he scores, but can't really think of many games where he's scored a decisive goal in a big game.

No doubt numerically he's a great goal scorer, the numbers he puts up are phenomenal.

Ronaldo has to go down as one of footballs greatest. He has done it all both in the premier league and la liga. Not many players can claim that!

I feel honoured we had him at our team and I'd like to think Fergie and his staff shaped him into the player he became but it's obvious the lad was born for greatness.

I think he is the rare type of player who can win matches on his own.

This is exactly what he cannot do. I don't like him personaly but I understand the amount of goals he scores. But the goals he scores are always well prepeared for him by his partners.

To win a match on your own is what Maradona did against England, what Ronaldo Nazario did so many times, what Messi still does.

And that's what for me he'll be always an amazing, historic player just like Gerd Muller, but not even top 5. He can't do it out of nothing.

How does his reliance on his teammates service make him any less impressive.

Any striker playing in a half functional team will get at least one or two chances to score per game. If it were that easy to take chances, then by that logic most strikers for top teams would finish a season with 50+ goals.

Its the fact that hes so ruthless, and keeps creating space for himself to be ready for a pass that make him so impressive.

Tap ins or not, a goal is a goal. It would be great to play alongside someone who can open up teams alone, but it must also be great to play alongside someone where you know that any half chance you can create, he'll probably score.

He scored a great header which was the winner in the 2011 Copa Del Rey Final against Barcelona. He scored the winner in the Nou Camp vs Barcelona in 2012 to clinch the league title for Madrid. He scored twice to put Madrid 2-0 up in the 2nd leg of the Copa Del Rey semi finals vs Barcelona in 2013 (the first leg was 1-1). He scored the winner vs City in the group stage of the CL in 2012. He scored twice vs Juventus in Madrid's home win in 2013 and the equaliser away vs Juventus the same season. He scored vs Milan to give Madrid the lead in 2010 (he also set up Ozil's goal) in a 2-0 win. He scored what proved to be the winning goal against Dortmund in 2014 (after Dortmund scored twice in the 2nd leg).

He scored an equaliser vs Dortmund in the 2013 CL semi finals, he scored an equaliser vs Juventus in both the first leg and 2nd leg of last seasons CL semi finals, he scored vs Atletico in the Copa Del Rey semi final in 2011 to give Madrid the lead, he scored vs Atletico in the Copa Del Rey final in 2013 to give Madrid the lead, he scored to give Madrid the lead vs Barcelona in the 2012 Spanish Super Cup in the first leg (in a 3-2 loss) and he scored twice in the 2nd leg in a 2-1 win (5-5 on aggregate but Madrid won because of away goals), he scored a hattrick vs Atletico in April 2012 (and won MOTM), he scored against Atletico to give Madrid the lead in a 2-0 win in the 12/13 season (he also set up Ozil's goal) and again he was MOTM, he scored twice vs Bayern in 2012 in a 2-1 win and set up Ozil's goal in the first leg in a 1-0 loss (Madrid lost to Bayern on penalties but Ronaldo played his part in all three Madrid goals so he certainly did his bit). His goals were meaningless vs Bayern last season but he played his part in Benzema's goal by dropping deep to find Coentrao with a pass who then set up Benzema to give Madrid the lead (so that is three of Madrid's five goals he played a part in). He also scored the equaliser vs United in the first leg in 2013 and the winner in the 2nd leg (you wont like me including that because of the referee but it was still a difficult game for Madrid and he deserves credit for getting the winning goal and that amazing header in the first leg).

He scored United's goal in the CL final vs Chelsea, he scored the winner vs Porto in 2009, he scored vs Inter to put United 2-0 up and kill the game in 2009, he scored twice vs Arsenal in the CL semi finals and he scored a header away vs Roma to give United the lead in 2008. For Portugal he scored both goals vs Holland in Euro 2012 and was MOTM, he scored the winner vs Czech Republic in the QF and was MOTM in that game too. He scored to give Portugal the lead vs Holland in the Euro 2004 semi finals. He has been decisive and crucial in lots of important matches for Madrid, United and Portugal. I have also included goals against big teams that Madrid did not go onto to win against as it is unfair on Ronaldo to not include goals he scored in games that Madrid did not win as he did his bit in those games. They would have been "decisive" as you say, if the team performed well enough to go onto win. It is not Ronaldo's fault that Madrid did not win those games, the same way it is not just because of him that they won. It is a team game but a player like Ronaldo gives you a greater chance of winning than the majority of other players out there (everyone except Messi I would say). To suggest he does not score many decisive or important goals in big games is well wide of the mark.

Or dribble, because, he doesn't do that, and dribbles matter

@Raul Madrid great post, but ultimately a waste of time

Good post. Quite a bit of myth busting.

Ridiculous opinion to hold with his record over the past few seasons to be honest .
