Cristiano Ronaldo - Performances (wums will be thread banned)

5 goals is amazing, but still his team mates do give him great service, and he doesnt really score any great solo goals, not taking away from his insane goal haul, but most of his goals are pretty easy to score as his team mates do most of the donkey work, and key passes to him

That's a very naive thing to say. Ronaldo co-creates these chances with his outstanding movement and reading of the game. If you replace him with, say, Rooney or Benteke, most of the "easy" chances won't be there in the first place.

What do you expect when people wank themselves into a frenzy over 4 really straight forward finishes and a penalty? Even the fecking assist was a piece of piss you'd expect any player to make.

Look at the goal Neymar just scored, that tops anything Ronaldo did today.

1 goal from one player tops 5 goals from another player?

Have a word with yourself!

Superb goal from nothing against top opposition vs 4 straight forward close range finishes against a team people have been calling EspanLOL in recent years?

People get their panties in a bunch when I draw attention to these things and poke fun at me but the crowd that get wound up by anyone who doesn't just rattle off his stats and suck him off are worse

Individually, I agree with @Snake Plissken there. Neymar's goal was better than any that goal that Ronaldo scored yesterday. That said, collectively Ronaldo's haul, regardless of how simple some of the finishes were, merit more praise. That's the nature of the beast.

Had Neymar scored that goal in a mid week Champions League tie, you'd be hearing about it for 2 more days after it happened at least.

Haha. It's like their only role in La Liga is to be cannon fodder for Ronaldo and Messi. Everytime I see their name on the scoreboard they've just been hammered with at least five goals or something.
It's just disgraceful IMO, weak mentality. You'll probably lose, true, but at least make it an exciting match and don't just give up like that.

Well done Ronaldo saw he was on a hat rick shocked to see he got 5. Seriously though Spanish football has to be a bit of a joke the amount of goals they concede to this guy.

Madrid despite all the money they've spent are going to struggle like nothing on earth to try and replace thia guy when he goes which I can see happening next summer. No way can Bale do what Ronaldo does he doesn't have the mentality.

He's not as bloody talented, never mind the mentality. Ronaldo's awareness of space, a sense of where the goal is something you can't coach. Bale has searing pace and power but doesn't have that extra quality that lifts Ronaldo and Messi to the next level. Heck, he's not the level of Neymar, Ibra and Suarez

Actually Espanyol had been one of Cristiano's (and Messi's as well) toughest opponents to score against in Spain... at the end of last season he scored a hat-trick against them and now these five to make it 8 goals in their last 2 meetings... compared to only 4 goals in the 11 matches he played v them before that. So 12 in 13 games now, overall.

Messi's record against them is even worse (than the 4 in 11), mainly because they used to be an extremely solid side between 2004 and 2012... overall it's 13 in 21 (of which 10 in his last 7 games against them, since 2011/12). They've both scored two hat-tricks against them since 2012 which wasn't looking likely before then.

Cristiano's toughest opponents (in terms of gpg) : Sporting Gijón (0.40), Betis (0.43), Barça (0.65), Atléti (0.68), Valencia (0.69)
Cristiano's favourite opponents (in terms of gpg) : Elche (2.33), Getafe (1.80), Celta (1.71), Sevilla (1.62), Racing Santander (1.50)

I only included Spanish teams against whom he has played more than 2 games.

I certainly know a good schooling when I see one :) Thanks for that. I guess I've had them mixed up with someone else - and it's just one of these "weird feelings of football", not a fact ;)

That's just curious. I'd like to see those stats with Messi. I'm pretty sure Cristiano toughest opponents are Messi's favourite opponents.

In terms of total number of goals scored it's about the same teams that are among their top favourite opponents (except Valencia for Cristiano). In terms of gpg and/or assists Messi generally tends to do better against the three toughest opponents (RM/Barça, Atléti & Valencia).

Cristiano (RM career),
21 goals v Sevilla (in 13 apps) -- 1.62 gpg (+ 0 assists)
18 goals v Getafe (in 10 apps) -- 1.80 gpg (+ 1 assist)
15 goals v Atlético (in 22 apps) -- 0.68 gpg (+ 5 assists)
15 goals v Barça (in 23 apps) -- 0.65 gpg (+ 1 assist)
14 goals v Athletic (in 12 apps) -- 1.17 gpg (+ 4 assists)
14 goals v Málaga (in 14 apps) -- 1.00 gpg (+ 9 assists)
...
.9 goals v Valencia (in 13 apps) -- 0.69 gpg (+ 2 assists)

Messi (since 09/10),
19 goals v Sevilla (in 17 apps) -- 1.12 gpg (+ 4 assists)
17 goals v Osasuna (in 12 apps) -- 1.42 gpg (+ 5 assists)
16 goals v Atlético (in 19 apps) -- 0.84 gpg (+ 4 assists)
15 goals v R. Madrid (in 24 apps) -- 0.63 gpg (+ 10 assists)
14 goals v Getafe (in 13 apps) -- 1.08 gpg (+ 7 assists)
14 goals v Valencia (in 14 apps) -- 1.00 gpg (+ 6 assists)
13 goals v Athletic (in 15 apps) -- 0.87 gpg (+ 7 assists)
...

He must be right up there as most penalties scored in the history of the game. Lampard got an awful lot but I'd say Ronaldo's easily surpassed him by now.

2 hat tricks in 2 games. 8 goals in 4 days.

2 penalties and a tap in. As Cristiano Ronaldo a hattrick as you can get.

It´s really painful for you isn't it? can´t rememeber someone as bitter  I don´t really care about this type of individual statistics but i do get satisfaction from your bitterness

Obviously 40 yard screamers, well worked team goals or Messi-esque dribbles and a lob are prettier, more entertaining goals - but they're worth the same amount as a penalty or a tap in. Ridiculous how people almost say the amount of 'easy' goals Ronaldo scores is a bad thing. If tap ins are so easy then why aren't more players netting 40+ every season?

He's a footballing God and one of the greatest goalscorers of all time. Nothing can take that away from him.

It's so pathetic it's almost funny. Almost.

Not really. If he scores a hattrick in an important match I'll be annoyed but I don't really care what he does in a group stage that they'll walk through.

 Annoyed why? You´re supposed to be a Liverpool fan. You aren´t annoyed but you have the need to downplay it all the time. I get annoyed with stuff from rivals but never when Messi scores a hattrick and i´m portuguese. You are really a weirdo but that doesn´t surprise me. At least Snake is funny from time to time, you are just obsessed

I despise Real Madrid and dislike Cristiano Ronaldo. That's why.

Yeah you really despise them more than Everton or United. Perhaps you should change the team you support  Whatever rocks your boat

That 1st pen Real got was incredible. How the ref deems that a pen is beyond me.

8 goals in 2 games still impressive tbf. No matter how they're scored.

That was the most undeserving hatrick Ive ever seen, 2 dodgy penalties(the second one was not really fair, very unlucky), while the 3rd goal was keeper saving marcelos shot and spilling it straight to Ronaldo

It happens to Ronaldo all the time, Real Madrid just gets so many early penalties, it kills off the match and Real then demolish them with 2-3 extra goals.

Eight goals in two games and people still find a way to downplay it. fecking hell.

The hate and downplay immediately after scoring 8 goals in 2 matches is cringeworthy here...
