????
Clearly you have not watched the same games I have!.
I'm not sure what you are talking about but I'm pretty certain that either you have zero knowledge of football and player development or you are one of a handful of people on this forum who have opinions on players you not seen enough of to form an educated opinion on.
I honestly don't see what Welbeck has. Don't get me wrong, he is a good player, but not good enough for us. I think he will end up being a PL player but not with us.
Then you must be pretty blind because the boy has plenty of pace, good close control, already looks a good dribbler of the ball and a good finisher. By all accounts he is also a very techincally gifted football for his age which you can see in some of the goals he has scored at this top level. He is also only 19 years old!!!! 19!!!!!!
I mean, he is quick but not that quick, he is not that strong, not great in the air, not a great play maker, a good finisher but not a great finisher and has a pretty good shot on him.
To make it at this club, you need something that makes you special. I don't see what makes him special.
Again absolute rubbish,
He is a quick player not young micheal Owen quick but quick all the same especially when you consider he is already above 6ft. As for your opinion on his strength, i'm afraid that just shows your complete lack of knowledge of youth development because as I mentioned he is 6ft 1" and possibly still growing but as he is still a teen he is still developing physically. He is also still learning to use his strength in the correct way at the highest level and is already even at this early stage looking more muscular this season than he did the last. Thats how youth development works, sometimes especially in terms of strength you don't see the results straight away it sometimes takes a year or two for them to begin to lose their "coltishness" and begin to develop a more muscular physique.
You also say his not a great playmaker, well he would really be would he? he's a bloody forward he's expected to be able to cross and pick a pass of course but why the hell would he be expected to make a great playmaker when you would expect him to be more on the end of things or putting the ball into the box from wide? Another bizzare comment from you. And as for his heading abilty thats another thing which at 6ft 1 and 19 years old you would expect to get better with time, after all Rooney didn't become a decent header of the ball until he was 23/24.
I do wish we had less posters like yourself on these forums, its nothing personal I just think you have a complete lack of knowledge about youth development and how young player are educated about the game. Young players have to take on board alot of footballing knowledge fast, and not everybody can be like Messi and have it all pretty much figured out by 20, it takes a bit more time for some players. What I hear too much of on this forum is people with half baked ill formed opinions like your own, writing off 19 year old footballers with very little evidence or knowledge to backup their claims.
I call them "next junkies" because they are always looking for the next big thing instead of focusing on how good a player is and can be given time. I can guarantee that if Welbeck were a youngster coming through at any other club than united he would have more games under his belt and there would be people like yourself salivated about him.
The boy is 19, writing him off when his talent should be quite obvious to anybody with an ounce of knowledge about youth development is just sheer lunacy. But then that never seems to stop posters like yourself who I can guarantee will be doing the same with Keane and king when they get anywhere near the first team.
