David Moyes | West Ham in talks with him for managerial job

Cant see him getting another Premier League job anytime soon after this. I think he will have to do a McClaren and try do something in a smaller foreign league.

feck the Sunderland fans though, I'll never forget the way they acted when City won the league I hope they go down and stay down.

Absolutely sod all chance of that. His ego won't let him.

He'll be insufferable in the press for a year before taking Celtic to 9th.

He didn't disrespect united in that he hasn't come out directly insult people, But, he constantly went on about the contract length! As if we were wrong for letting him go when it was mathematically impossible to qualify for champions league. His constant refusal to admit he made any mistakes while in charge (like firing and replacing the back room team)
Also how he took the champions and then said that it would be impossible to win the league with them, the constant lowering of expectations as a defence (seen that already at Sunderland!)
I could go on for ages but I spoken about moyes for way to long in my lie and I want to speak about more important things like the weather!!
Compare how Van Gaal had behaved since he left compared to the nonsensical ramblings of this man.

And some think he is an ''honest''man.

“It’s damning, I agree,” said Moyes “It does make me feel lousy, and I do. I don’t feel good about it but you’ve got to take it. I probably spend Saturday night, and quite often, in a darkened room somewhere. “Sunday gets a wee bit better, but not much, and hopefully by the time Monday morning comes, you are ready to go again."

Jesus, he's such a depressing bloke. I can just imagine him spending his weekends crying in a cupboard somewhere, desperately trying to get himself together to face work on Monday morning. You wonder how they're bottom of the league with such an inspirational figure in charge.

How can an employed manager say anything like that?! It's like he's asking for intervention that will end his agony. One way or another he's heading for Championship.

What makes you think a team in the Championship will want him? It's a really tough league, he couldn't cope with it.

LVG has been gagged for a year by the terms of his payout apparently.

Lucky for Moyes he is a Scottish catholic which means the easiest job in the world will be available for him when the time comes - Celtic.

Out of 24 teams there I'm sure we'll find out at least 1 director willing to take a punt at hiring him. Falls from grace aren't meteoric in terms of duration. It seemingly takes ages for everyone to read their memo.

We haven't recovered mentally. We thought we were invincible under Ferguson. Within months under Moyes we looked terrified on the pitch and have never recovered.

When you say "we", who are you referring to?? Don't forget van Gaal shipped out most of the players from the Ferguson/Moyes era and the backroom staff had all changed. We've had two new managers who would have had enough time and were big enough personalities to impose themselves on the club and players and spent fortunes on the squad with replacements who would have had no contact with Moyes.

So as much as Moyes has been an ass, I really can't understand how anyone can say that we have not recovered from his time here??

If he gets the sack that kills the notion that Davey is a manager to save a club from relegation. When you look back he was lucky to get in the PL when he did, when the majority of sides sat back and played like West Brom do today. It really was just the Top 4 - 6 that actually played to win. back then you could get away with a team full of hard workers, whereas today you need them and the artisans to get anywhere.
Davey just tries to play to not lose the man is frightened and if he thinks any club is going to give him enough time in this day and age he needs to get a fecking grip! Once he gets the sack from Sunderland he will have a massive rebuilding job on his career but feck it it's all United faults for not honouring that fecking 6 year contract

Yeah agree. Everything about them is jumped up and artificial, from the stadium name they nicked off Benfica to the club nickname they chose themselves in an online poll.

They deserve Moyes.

Same with Moyes - also signed a 'gagging' agreement but it still doesn't stop him from throwing snides our way. LVG on the other hand has behaved impeccably so far. Has got on with his life quietly and has said not one word, nor has he allowed any interviews.

With the benefit of hindsight it was like the post room mail boy being interviewed for the CFO's job and getting it!!!!!! A costly feck up by the club.

Moyes failure and sacking at United had a huge impact on his career. It arguably finished him. He'll be defined by it too. The United job was always going to define Moyes and make or break his career. Broken him and his career I say. Probably why he's bitter about United. If he's still Sunderland boss by the time United and Sunderland play each other, somebody in the media will ask him about United and he'll come up with woe is me comment.

Whilst it's safe to say van Gaal's career as a manager finished once he was sacked, he at least has a respectable career to look back on. Van Gaal will be defined by his great work with Ajax, respectable job with Barcelona first stint among other positive things in his career. Plus, van Gaal gets to spend time with his missus in Portugal, dull, dour Davey Moyes spends his life in Sunderland.

Brendan Rodgers was also dumped by a big English team, after having achieved much more than Moyes did at United. At no point has he resorted to David's childish antics.

He has simply moved on with his life and not taken constant shots at his past employers.

Imagine if he actually got the Celtic job and got a SPL trophy - He'd be insufferable

Must be great to Moyes, keeps getting these jobs, works a few months then gets a good settlement. I would love to be c*ap at my job get fired and be paid nice amounts.

Fraud of a manager who needs to find a new profession

What a load of rubbish, like I said earlier: Manchester United is the best thing that ever happened to David Moyes. He's made and will continue to make more money as a failure at Manchester United than he ever would have if he stayed at Everton. When he's eventually sacked from this job he'll still have carte blanche selection of an array of mid-tier jobs around the world because "The United job was a poisoned chalice" and "It was Sunderland, what did people expect?" - do you think Real Sociedad would have ever considered appointing Moyes if he wasn't Sir Alex Ferguson's "Chosen One?" He's a made man thanks to United and the only people who deserve pity in this situation are the sad sack United fans who feel compelled to defend this guy out of some misplaced sense of loyalty.

Thing is, van Gaal achieved a top 4 finish with United in his first season, and then a trophy in his 2nd.

van Gaal also did really well against our biggest rivals, which is a big deal when a club is in transition.

Big difference to what Moyes brought to the table - literally nothing.

Sometimes I feel a little sorry for him, but his media cronies really, really bother me. I actually think he's quite ruthless when it comes to preserving his image and avoiding responsibility - if only he showed that same ruthlessness in his actual fecking job.

I also think he's a manager that plays crap football, unlike, say Rodgers, who plays decent football, was sacked by Liverpool the season after finishing 2nd, and is now rebuilding his career in a sensible way.

Does Moyes enjoy actually football anymore? Does he want the nitty-gritty of actually creating a team?

Or is he now just really on a mission to try and claw some his 'name' back...?

For his outburst at Southampton he's got a one match touchline ban. Sunderland's prospects looking better this weekend.

Keep him in charge until we can be directly responsible for relegating them and getting this clown the boot.

Remember the League Cup semi final shoot out against Sunderland no less?

That was one of my lowest points as a United fan. Phil Jones's stupid face as he took that penalty with Moyesy watching on from the dugout. What had we become!

.

Jeez the drama is strong in that post

Moyes wasn't some kid who needed time to settle down. Prior to United he has spent 11 years at another EPL side, building the necessary knowledge needed to lead a top club. Sure, it was a setback especially since it was evident that Moyes was out of depth in his new role. However other people got the same setback and were able to work their way back to the top. Ancelotti was sacked by Juventus and he returned on top with AC Milan. Allegri did the switch the other way round. LVG was sacked by both Bayern and Barcelona and he always managed to find his way back to the top. Setbacks in football manager are normal. Its up to the manager not to be defined by it

Moyes was a decent manager in the early 2000s. He took Everton who were in deep trouble, he built them up and turned them into a decent squad who could sit comfortable in the middle of the EPL table without any concerns of ending up being relegated. Unfortunately as time gone by, the EPL got tougher and he simply didn't kept up with the pace. Now some managers (ex Wenger or Busby) would dig their heels and live off on the gratitude that club has towards them. There again, Everton isn't Arsenal/Manchester United and it was only fair for Moyes to try and get his only shot to the big league. The alternative would have been a longer agony at Everton were he'll probably be forced out with never winning anything in his entire career.

Age catch up on you one day or another. This happens irrespective whether you're a top manager (Busby, Clough, Lippi, Sacchi) or a mid table manager one. No one broke Moyes. He simply wasn't good enough in the first place and we got him when he was already in his decline.

Even McLaren managed a redemption of sorts post England job. He actually has some character even if he's too soft to manage at the top level. Moyes is just a deeply inadequate man who isn't even a good coach like McLaren.

He will get sacked shortly before their game with us, giving them a huge confidence boost.

With the benefit of hindsight it was like the post room mail boy being interviewed for the CFO's job and getting it!!!!!! A costly feck up by the club.

I posted elsewhere about this and you are so right imho. He single-handled set you back 10 years. First, in one season he managed to turn a footballing winning machine into a very mediocre side. At a stroke, he managed to wipe out the sense of invincibility at Old Trafford that had been built up for decades. Teams no longer turning up expecting a thrashing, but actually thinking "we can win this".

Then by sacking him - which you rightly had to do - he effectively puts all future managers under huge pressure. Gone was the "doing things the proper way - the United way" mantra. United became just like any other club demanding instant success. This was only reinforced further when you (also rightly imho) sacked LVG.

Now you have Mourinho, who even with his CV is obviously already under enormous pressure. If you'd hired Mourinho in the first place, you could have told him he had 3 years to build what he likes with no pressure to win anything. He'd have had you in the top 4 in season 1 (maybe even won it) and winning it in season 2 and beyond.

But after 3 years of underachievement already, Mourinho now doesn't have that luxury. He looks like a man who thinks he has to deliver this season or he's fired.

We play them on Boxing Day. It'll be a miracle if he's still in charge until close to Christmas.
