I think that he felt that way after he started working with him. Is that article not implying he made that deduction before he started working for us properly?
i recall something recent like at the players awards where DDG got player of the year. LVG made some kind of offhand comment that he wasnt sure about him, but ending in a congratulatory way. Wheras it must have been quite insulting to DDG anyway as he was our best player last year aswell

Yes it did happen, and I found it baffling too

By now it is too late to sell him. The league starts in a couple of days and there is just too much to lose.

I agree. Also, while it may be distracting him now I think it will stop once the window closes. Once he knows the move won't be happening until the end of the season he will focus on performing well.

I think Utd should tell Madrid to piss off. But that's just me. Losing De Gea is like starting the season with a -10 point difference. It's clear as day he saves you guys a lot of points when it gets to the business end of the season.

If he stays it won't make an ounce of difference to him or Real how he performs because one way or the other he'll be standing between the sticks at the Bernabeu this time next season. So I wouldn't be putting my house on him giving it his all and having a stormer of a farewell season. Holding onto him could quite possibly backfire big time.

The EUROs are at the end of the season

Individual performances in a goalkeeper's position are far too important for us to be counting on De Gea to be "professional enough." I was happy having Valdes standing in line to take over from De Gea but that ship has sailed.

If Valdes was causing trouble even last season, I don't understand why we seem to not have a goalkeeper as one of our main priorities this window.

(Oh Ben Foster, if only you'd been as good as some of us thought you'd be. :( )

He hasnt once behaved unprofessionally through out this whole saga, spoken to the press or created a fuss so why is everyone assuming he will suddenly drop his performance level? The guy has been one of the best in his age group since he was 16. You dont get to be that good for that long without having a lot of determination and competitive spirit.

Even if he doesnt get his move, he will perform at a similar level to last season imo.

The daydreaming about having the craic with the Real lads in training in the blistering sun will start up at Upton Park come December when the snow will be belting off his puss and there'll be an orange ball flying around the place.

The likes of Jones falling over himself in front of him won't help matters either.

Need to keep him, already said it at the beginning of the window and now it's even more important. I doubt we would get a proper replacement now and Romero or Cilessen will end in a disaster. I have no doubts he will perform, he is too good to just feck up a season and he knows that he needs to perform further, it's Real, they could just sign the next shiny guy next summer, Euros are coming too and he wants to establish himself as the number one. Even if he won't perform on last seasons level he will be miles better than someone like Romero. So for me a sell is a no-go and would make things much more difficult for us.

Get this man out of retirement? He's tweeted this today.

The Euros, his pride as well as his professional attitude will ensure that he will give his all. Wont stop the drama queens here to go crazy once he has a poor game though

We definitely shouldnt sell before the Spurs game, Romero doesn't even speak the language. Unfortunately i think we have found ourselves in a difficult situation because of our insistence on getting Ramos and not buying a replacement.

I still expect him to go by the end of the window, even if it means playing a keeper who hasnt had a proper pre season.

There is no way we can sell him a couple of days before the first game of the fecking season. Not when the only two altneratives are Lindegaard and Romero. Christ imagine Jones and Blind at CB with Romero in goal, he can't speak English can he?

Keeping him is a must given the fact we haven't strengthened central defense and Romero sucks.

The keeper who played his part in Argentina getting to the world cup final sucks? He's obviously a backup keeper but I wouldn't say he sucks

He is quite bad to be first choice.

In fact, him being the first keeper for Argies in the last few years is one of the biggest mysteries of international football (together with Podolski having so many games for Germany). He has been backup for Sampdoria for the last few years, in one year being send to Monaco cause he was third choice for Sampdoria. Then he somehow managed to get only 3 games for Monaco, being in the picking order behind Danijel Subasic 'who'.

He might be an upgrade on Lindegaard (and a downgrade on Valdez) as second keeper but we will be completely screwed if he becomes our main keeper.

This is why I said he's obviously a backup keeper in my post. I don't think he sucks though, he'll slot in well as a number 2.

I'm about 70% sure that Jones has the basics down by now.

Yes, I am saying that, but I say what I read and decide to believe, of course it´s up to each believe what they like.
-The article of ABC talks about Van Gaal, who wanted to sign Navas because wasn´t sure about De Gea,
http://www.abc.es/realmadrid/noticias/20150801/abci-madrid-201507311721.html
-Article in As, talking about Van Gaal stopping intentionally the renewal
http://futbol.as.com/futbol/2015/08/01/primera/1438384368_538816.html
Then, of course It´s the version "Madrid is always tapping our players", "He is leaving because of Edurne" :), I guess that you will believe that and I respect it but for me is too simplistic :).
Any actual quotes from LvG or named sources at United? Of course by time this supposedly happened DeGea supposedly was already turning down offers and the rumours of him off to RM had already started. Smells more like propaganda than truth

Yes, he sucks, he saved a few penalties but that isn't enough to cover for flappyness on crosses, inability to hold anything, poor handling in general and a real lack of agility.

Of course there are not quotes of Van Gaal, if not the information would be everywhere, but the bad relationship between them is coming from serious press, not only Marca trying to sell newspapers in summer. I am not saying that is the reason but definitely Edurne is not the only one

He's our player now, judge him on his united performances FFS.

No, I'll judge him on what I've seen over the last two tournaments he played for Argentina and the fact he couldn't get a start for Monaco or Fiorentina over the last 2 seasons. Him suddenly wearing a United shirt doesn't change anything.
