They fecked around and left it til the last night.

We've left them with serious egg on their face, barely effects us either way.
Eh? We have a seriously unhappy keeper and Romero as our number one?

Not sure you are thinking this through

a. If the deal is off because the paperwork was ONE minute late... that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard... you can't get an extension for ONE minute... that's asinine.

b. if the problem was with Navas' contract, why did Real not wait until the next day for that part of the deal? If I'm not mistaken they can still SELL the next day, just not BUY.

You have to laugh!

feck you Madrid...i doubt Woody really did this on purpose but I'd love it if he did the mentalist!

Paco González is saying that Madrid didn´t leave this for the last day.United set a price today. I am fine with Keylor but I think that Manchester had a very ugly behavior with David if they sent the documents intentionally late. On the other hand Madrid should have fixed this weeks ago

Why didn't they just offer 100m and Ramos for him at the start of the window?

Real Madrid probably expected Man Utd to act like a competent club.

 you're talking complete shite... if you want a player so badly, you don't wait til 5 minutes before the window closes to try get it sorted.

They should have sorted it weeks ago.

Also they have treated both Casillias and Navas like utter shite this summer.
Classy bunch.

I can just imagine Woodward sitting by the fax machine while looking at his hublot, waiting for the clock to strike 12.01 before he presses the send button on the machine.

Absolute loony, I hope it gets resolved as I don't want an unhappy player here all year, it just doesn't help us. We've made a stand so lets just move on and forget this.

De Gea has to be fecked off by Madrid over this. An absoulte disgrace how Madrid have treated his transfer
Had they been willing to pay £30m which is still incredibly cheap for a keeper of his quality and small change for Madrid, they could have got him in June. feck Madrid.

LvG will have to play De Gea from now, obviously. Keeping him in the stands benefits no one.

I wonder if the first fax that came through at 11.59 was just a picture of Woodward laughing and sticking his fingers up. Then the real paperwork came through too hate haha.

Send free pizza and beer to De Gea's house every night and make him train alone. Is he professional enough not to eat himself out of the move? Let's find out.

This is only a good thing if De Gea's past love for our club wasn't completely fake and he's willing to try and make amends. If he acts like a mercenary while waiting for his free transfer then we are fecked... they get two quality keepers next year we are left with none, and have to dip into the war chest to get one.

If De Gea's "love" for the club never existed in the first place - which is quite likely, because loving a football club that they play for is exceedingly rare - then it means he can just act as a professional now like he was doing before, and play for the team that is paying him a shitload of money.

All this slightly overshadowed us buying a footy manager wonderkid. Was class is FM2014

I cannot see why people are happy. Instead of £22m and a good keeper we will have a decent looking chap sitting in the stands while our goal is guarded by one of the worst keepers in the league. In the meantime Real Madrid will patiently wait a year before getting one of the best goalkeeping talents for free and instead of £20m in the bank and Navas we will have to spend £45m to replace him with someone inferior knowing us.

Yay, we really pulled one over them!

Jokes on them. Now they have a keeper, who they were pushing away despite good performances, and might be furious over his treatment. Add to this their treatment over Casillas and they aren't coming out of this any better than us.

Do we reckon Dave will ever go to Real now? If he wants to return to Spain, surely he'd want Barca or even Atletico after today?

We can still sign a keeper tomorrow. I wouldn't be surprised if we slap a bid in for someone.

Madrid learned an important lesson today. We're United, we don't want your money, we'll cause you all sorts of problems that will cost you lots of money. Don't even bother with our players.

This is hilarious. Unlucky De Gea....hope you find some of your focus now you knob

In business, you always, but always expect errors and plan for them. You can't anticipate all imponderables but this is something that surely was foreseen. Waiting until literally the last minute of the transfer window was bonkers.

Anyway, I've said all along that this deal should have been wrapped up after De Gea's last game last season. All Madrid had to do was cough up and they could have had him ages ago. Instead, they nickel and dime and this is what happens.

Agreed

Keylor won't be fine with Real after how you guys treated him though
Yes, probably he is not happy but I think that he will be fine, he didn´t want to leave Madrid and knew about De Gea the whole summer. Bernabeu is with him, so hopefully he will keep the level

What an odd and slightly hilarious end to this sorry saga, well for now anyway. The question remains though, will LVG choose to play him now until the next transfer window or will he leave him rotting on the bench and have Romero there for the rest of the season, not something many round here want to contemplate? But a bigger question has to be, what will the reaction be when he goes back training in about a fortnight? De Gea has probably known this move was going through, he's probably said his goodbyes already and not everyone would've been happy about that. So how will the rest of the squad receive him when he goes back into that dressing room?
