Makes you wonder why it happened, this cant be incompetence. Saw a poll earlier that a lot of Madrid fans were not happy about signing him. Is it possible there is an Athlecio fan working for Real and they decided to mess things up?
Maybe our mate David wanted to shaft Madrid so he strung them so they wouldn't sign another keeper and then stuck two fingers up at them today.

Does anyone know what La Liga's rules are regarding loans? I assume that, like the PL, they have an out-of-window emergency goalkeeper loan option for when teams suffer a goalkeeper crisis?

If so, expect Navas and Kiko Casilla to respectively break a leg and and get diagnosed with AIDS within a week.

I feel for De Gea. The handling of this transfer has been a complete mess.

He can always blame the twats back home in Spain for not doing their job properly as a team having genuine interest. As for him, being a professional towards his employer is not too much asked of a job.

Things work a bit different in Spain, from what I remember from the Herrera fiasco they have a lot of control over transfers are dont accept any nonsense. The rumour was we were trying to get him for less than the buyout clause, but the buyout clause has to be registered with LFT as part of the players registration. They wont allow deals through that are under the buyout clause.

I'm glad that there's at least one football body that isn't bent. Shame our own FA isn't that way.

Okay so I have read through the past 20 pages to catch up.

Can't believe I missed all this excitement :(

Complete mess on Madrids part. Not like we were rejecting bids before today. Madrids fault they took it to the last minute.

Yes I agree. It must be frustrating for De Gea given the lengths Madrid have gone to for other 'Galacticos' - £80m for Bale etc.

What kind of reaction will he get if the deal actually has fallen through? I know United fans are loyal but fawning over him when he desperately doesn't want to be at the club is cringe.

Those Madrid fans at the other forum sure are bitter for a big club. I imagine they may not be representative, though, since it's an English forum.

I hope in sorting out this mess (which I'm pretty sure will get done shortly), we remember to sign Navas as well. I'll bet his head is even more messed up than De Gea's. Just played a great match a few days ago for his club, winning the fans over, and next thing you know he's shoved through the door kicking and screaming.

And then when he finally gets his head around playing for another club instead, his transfer hits a snag. I would not want to be Navas. I hope we have the shrink on standby.

Just hope LVG is willing to use him. He's much better than Romero.

Just woke up, expecting to see confirmation of this little bitch being sold to Madrid.

Instead, I'm seeing enough material to laugh non stop for a day

I very much doubt he will do that after this fiasco. What's stopping him from just waiting until January? I'd like to be proven wrong though.

If Navas does well, then Madrid might not want to spent a load of money. It would make sense for him to sign a new deal, with the understanding he can leave next summer.

The big losers if this doesn't go through will be us. He will be useless for us this season.

Yep, that's my worry. As funny as the situation is, we really don't benefit from it in any way except for managing to piss of Madrid and their fans.
That is worth it's weight in gold. That said DDG will want the No. 1 spot for Spain, so can't see him going on strike or sulking.
He should take a good look at his advisors, RM and Mendes. They feck ed up big time.
For all those arguing we will lose 25M or whatever it is, that is pennies compared to what we will have to pay for a replacement.

How does keeping De Gea without Navas benefit us in any way? Considering the former will likely continue to sit on the bench and sulk meaning we are left with Romero as our starter.

Well, De Gea wants to start for Spain in the Euros. The only way he gets to do that is by playing his socks off this season. Once this blows over, and it will, he'll start games. Van Gaal may be a mule be he's not stupid enough to consign on of the best goalies in Europe to the stands for the duration. There again, maybe he is and in that case, there's no benefit whatsoever. Hopefully saner heads will prevail.

For those moaning about lack of entertainment, we sure provide enough of that off-field.

As usual, there are the negative nancy’s claiming that it was Utd’s fault for fecking things up, or those that claim we are keeping an unhappy keeper, or those complaining that we lost out on Navas and have only Romero for the season. Looks like some people just hate the club or the people running it.

Personally I think Madrid have a good chance of getting this deal through. It a technical glitch is the excuse then how difficult is it for another technical glitch to be the remedy? Madrid certainly have enough clout.

But if this ultimately doesn’t go through, it is a great outcome for us. For those blaming Utd, consider it was Madrid playing games as well. They may have thought to leave this till the last minute in order to make us cave in and sell cheaper.

There’s a chance DDG may, in frustration, start thinking that Madrid weren’t that serious, especially if we can leak some news to the press about how Madrid could have wrapped this up early but did not value DDG enough. Madrid now also potentially have a keeper who knows he is not valued.

For those who think that DDG will be affected and cannot play well for the entire year, that’s rubbish. We all know footballers are as fickle as the weather. Cue in several weeks DDG’s corner coming out to say how he feels Utd are also a big club, etc etc. and after a few good performances, fans will forgive and forget. Don’t forget DDG has the Euros to look forward to; his agent and common sense will tell him that he needs to perform or kiss his national team chances goodbye. I doubt that he will be that happy to idle on the bench.

As for those who think that we will lose the 20m when DDG leaves on a free, so what? DDG could be the difference between a title challenge or a CL spot. That’s worth more than 20m. And a year is a long time where many things can change. Let’s not forget Madrid may have a transfer ban so maybe they can’t sign DDG. Maybe we can get DDG to extend. Maybe he gets a new girlfriend.

That is worth it's weight in gold. That said DDG will want the No. 1 spot for Spain, so can't see him going on strike or sulking.
He should take a good look at his advisors, RM and Mendes. They feck ed up big time.

Why should he sulk anyway? We did our part, we granted his wish and succumbed to the twats and put our forms in etc, it's not our fault that Madrid are idiots is it.

For his many faults, lack of direct access to Mendes isn't one of them.

Iol woke up expecting this cnut to be sold only to find 40+ new tweets on possible reasons for failed deal. Hahahaa
