Easter Premier League Fixtures (06/04/12 - 11/04/12)

How the fcuk do we keep letting Kuyt score past us??

It seem easier to score than to blast it high from 1 yard.

Who's the Liverpool muppet running BBC's livetracker today by the way? He's claimed that both the "handball" and Suarez' dive was penalties.

It's great fun watching Liverpool's season end in shambles but it doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things. The CC win guarantees them European football and they've an FA Cup semi-final to look forward too. I doubt a single player gives a feck whether they finish 5th or 15th. It's no wonder they're just going through the motions in their remaining league fixtures.

Bonus money for league placement. The ability to lure the type of players they need to fix the shambles. Pride.

The manager should be able to use those factors alone to motivate them.

I don't think it's that insignificant to be honest. It's about building for the next season too, and finishing in the bottom half is a very bad selling point as well, if they want to strengthen their squad in the summer. Much depends on how they do in the FA cup, but only winning the CC will not save their season even if it does mean European League next season. There's also the financial gain of finishing several places higher, which will no doubt mean something to the owners at least.

It is going to be pretty embarrassing when they don't win the FA Cup.

Bonus money you get for finishing 7th instead of 10th is probably a tenth of Carroll fee. Either way they don't care about it.

Aye, in the grand scheme of things it doesn't really matter. Not sure how the the 40 odd thousand paying to watch them week-in week-out feel though!

you don't believe that mate.

getting humiliated by all these also rans?

this is a lesson though. You cannot put a man who has been out of management for 20 odd years and just have him turn things around. Legend or not.

I don't know what the owners must be thinking...with those millions they blew away on so many below average players...

legendary mismanagement.

RAWK have taken the score well.

It honestly does matter massively. If you've finished 7th, you can go to a new signing "listen, we know we ended badly, but we're still within so and so points of the top four, we've got a bit of money and we think you could help us massively"

But finishing 11th? Or 12th? You're confirmed as a mediocre club.

The Liverpool players and management are also putting more pressure on themselves for finishing the league this poorly. The fans will get on their backs much quicker next year(TM) which rarely helps the team. Let's not forget, that Liverpool were actually 5th in the league around the turn of the year (up among Chelsea and Newcastle), with a rather big gap down to the next clubs. They've kept their position until last round or so, even though they've lost a lot of games due to the big gap - but now that they've used that gap they'll slide down the table, unless they start winning.

Dempsey is by far the best player outside of the top 6.

He's in good form, but there are a heap of better players than him outside the top 6. Gerrard, Suarez, Lucas, Enrique, Reina, to name a few.

Are you serious? I'd take Dempsey over Lucas every day of the week.
