We're getting outplayed by fecking Cyprus, it's so bad they actually deserve to win right now. How Wilmots keeps getting away with serving us this shit is beyond me. Fuming right now, my two favorite teams are managed by donkeys.

Hazard has been awful. Cyprus just wait for Belgium to mess up then go up the other end with ease. With better decision making they could be ahead.
With Belgium it's real eye of the needle stuff relying on a moment of brilliance. Just need to park the bus on them.

Netherlands are shocking. Not an easy group they are in but a team like them should have no issues finishing top 3 anyway. I reckon they will still make it somehow but nevertheless a very poor campaign.

You have to feel for Cyrpus. Twice in the space of 3 days they have lost 1-0 at home to teams scoring after the 80 minute mark.
Wales and Belgium are through though as they still have Andorra to play.

Players were a bit too impatient, perhaps understandably so. Too many long balls, giving the ball away too easily. Kazakhstan never really threatened so the point was never in danger. Ref was a bit shit in the 2nd half. Kazakhstan fouled a lot and maybe because of that gave away a lot. A very, very cheap red card for our captain. Two fouls, two yellow cards. Both on the cusp on being a yellow on their own, definitely not a combined red card.
Not sure if winning the group matters. There are 6 groups and we're 16th in Europe with France below us at the moment. 17th means 5th in pot 3 so it's probably a matter of not going down to pot 4. Can't really see us going up 4 places. Would need to rely on four of Netherlands, Slovakia, Switzerland and Croatia to not qualify and/or Czech Republic or Denmark to go below us in the ranking.

Too many passengers from the Dutch league. Even their better players are either not the finished article or over the hill.
If I were Icelandic I wouldn't be too worried... you guys have shown that you're definite contenders for a 1st or 2nd spot, even in a group of death.

Don't mind them. Our coach blamed the players for the defeat and said something like - ask the players why they didn't give their all... Great man management. Of course he doesn't think he is to blame for anything.
But nothing new from our coaches..

I meant starved in the footballing sense ;P World Cups in 94 and 98, beating big nations to get there, a lacklustre Euro 2000 (despite beating Spain, ffs!), and since then, not a sniff! I'm particularly bitter about when we reached play-offs and Czech Republic got Nedved out of retirement to make doubly sure we didn't get to the tournament... :@
It will be good to see some debutants and teams who haven't been in major competition in a while at the next tournament. The format in which 3 out of 4 teams will progress to knockouts from all but two groups in the main competition will also mean that everyone will have a shot.

This is history right here smallest nation in a large football tournament ever and with two games to spare.. Congratulations. Kind of wish he was still with Sweden instead of the clueless Erik Hamrén. Will be rooting for Iceland (and Sweden if we make it ofc) in the EUROs.
Iceland is a phenemenon in sports. They are, or at least were, one of the best countries in the world in handball as well. 300k population. Amazing. Lagerbäck has done an oustanding job to top that group. They do have some decent football players also!
