This is what's absolutely idiotic about all of this. The entirety of their argument is that, at best, Evra should be punished for not understanding a cultural or linguistic nuance of a country he has no connection with.
They've basically decided that because Evra has some history with racism issues that they're going to paint him as the boy who cried wolf. Despite the fact that anyone with an IQ in double digits knows that that there's a much larger issue here.
...............Dalglish: "We've said all along that we're not making any comments; and here's another comment we're not making: Luis is a fantastic professional, a great player and should be a United Nations Ambassador, if not, Pope. Still, we don't want to prejudice the proceedings, so we'll say nothing, like we have all along. But let me say this: we refuse to talk about Saint Luis Suarez and that cheeky French bloke - we won't talk about him at all, except to say that he should be shot out of a cannon and banned for life from everything. We'll say no more about it. No further comment...wait! Come back! I haven't finished not speaking about it!"
I think you are in the wrong thread, unless this is something I dont get

I'll begin by saying I Fully agree with you Titanic69 but I wonder if like me? You might have maybe considered the possibility that this faint hearted Coward masquearading as a writer (yes YOU Wallace) is if not acting at the FA's bidding? Then padding out their armour in the event of the Inevitable Firestorm that will follow a guilty verdict when in reality? NO-ONE can or ever Will be able to tell if Suarez was guilty of racism or not as if they Could? That issue (of clear, unchallenged incontrovertable evidence of Luis' guilt) would have been settled Loooooong ago - Along with this whole case no doubt. I actually think the COWARDS (I'll repeat that for your paymasters no Wallace?) at the FA? Have Long since decided to find Suarez Guilty of..........Well anything they can get really.
This is shown by their gutless, cowardly & utterly pathetic snide little tactic of charging Suarez with being Insulting (again Little if any Actual proof of that) as well as Racist - Why that hmm? And What might I ask makes the snivelling cowards at the FA with their ridiculous little 'Panel' believe THEY are more qualified an authority on race issues in England in ANY respect than an actual you Know Legal Court? Simple fact is they're not - which is why a Guilty verdict of Any Kind? Will unleash ALL kinds of Hell right over the heads of the FA & Man Utd & The English game in general.
This is because not just of the English Game's often hidebound attitude to race in general but also because of a number of other bodies/organisations involved in this case specifically; Due to the fact that most of them have been involved in his defence & that One of them has suffered a CLEAR vendetta against them recently courtesy of those same gutless pygmies at the FA? Well I can see not Just Liverpool FC but also the Uruguayan FA & Embassy & Suarez himself All taking Legal action against the FA In REAL courts (rather than the 'sporting' jokes the FA normally deal in) and there? The FA will be a Mile out of their depth agains That sort of Legal Challenge & all the parties?
Will then use the chance to undoubtedly rip the FA a new one and if not reverse the rigged up travesty of a so-called 'decision' we'll hear tommorow? They will certainly embarras & humiliate the FA and that noxious, venomous, lying, midget with attitude, diabolical, pathetic poison little dwarf Evra to SUCH an extent? That they will leave our club & player alone in future - And rightly so. In fact? - If the above mentioned (FA, United, Evra etc) Had used their heads rather than fabricating allegations in the FIRST place? All this mess could have been avoided Instead? They'll just have to take a beating on the decision And maybe in the courts if they get it wrong to learn something they SHOULD of done months ago - That is? Leave Liverpool FC & Luis Suarez? Well alone...................
For what it's worth? I think Suarez isn't guilty - He couldn't Possibly be; In fact? I believe the odious little dwarf Evra like he did in 2008 at Chelsea? & JUST as is gospel in the book of his Lord & Master Ferguson which he has thus followed to the letter? The arrogant little twerp's concocted a convenient cover story & catch all to hide just HOW bad he looked against Suarez & how humiliated he was that day at Anfield. Never mind - He'll get his sooner or later - Bank on it. If angry fans or players of other teams Don't give him the ahem 'private talking to' (i.e. smack in the mouth) he so RICHLY deserves in order to shut him up once & for all? I can see him suffering from an ahem unusually vigorous tackle or four & subsequent broken leg or maybe a career ending injury and it couldn't happen to a nicer piece of trash. If I had to put money on it? I'd say that tackle/retribution on Evra? Will most likely take place on Saturday 12th February 2012 - When you consider just WHO is playing then & all This? I'd say it would be a big surprise if it DIDN'T happen then in fact. Ah well, whatever happens - (and it Will mark my words) Evra will fully deserve it. No-one has had Nemesis coming to them more in recent years & No-one deserves it more either than This little cretin - Finally it is at hand one way or another...........
Pathetic sniveling wretch that you are, can't see reality if it walked up and punched you in the face.
Think you are so clever? You are living in dreamland, but for all you supposed fairness - you have Suarez guilty before anyone else has seen the evidence.
Don't presume to lecture us with your double standards you sanctimonius b****rd.
Simplistic nonsense that falls into the absurd idea that a word of abuse is evidence of bigotry.
People are abused daily by reference to being from India, Pakistan, being Jewish or Moslem, being White, Anglo-Saxon, being 'Fat' or too thin, being over tall or small etc. etc.
Is it any more insulting to someone that they are abused for the colour of their skin than the size of their nose or sexual orientation?
There is an automatic knee jerk reaction to any refernce to 'blackness'. A witch hunt simmilar to any association with communists in 1950s America.
Racism is the easy accusation levelled at those who do not agree or subscribe to the choices and (lack of )value system of an Afro-Carribean minority.
It is the first defence of every mugger, drug dealer, gangster and petty criminal when challenged or apprehended.
It is a fake that costs our society millions every year and ensures a slanted legal system as victims are fearful they may be accused as racists.
All of which only serves to drive the genuine racists and hate merchants underground.
Meanwhile the majority of us just deal with the insults of an ignorant minority and get on with our lives.
In that context the petty jibes of a competative game of football are inconsequential and do credit or justice to no one.
Instead of cying like a ninny you should go do as the snickers advert says and get some nuts.
as i said, it stands to logic that no news is very bad news for suarez.
winter is such a biased writer, its so blatant, its not funny! he is basicallt pleading with United to drop the matter. Never knew he was so pro scouse.
Yep. Absolutely disgusting. They're basically saying it's fine to racially abuse someone. it just shows what kind of people still exist in this country.
[/SPOILER]
I think you are in the wrong thread, unless this is something I dont get
so whatever a Liverpool player does....support him.
hmmm.
not too clever these scousers...
I can only hope that in the reverse situation it would be an absolute minority of United fans acting like such vile bastards. Certainly not journalists or anyone associated so closely with the club.
Feck. Meant to be in the despicable characters thread.
..and one poor victim of a massive campaign to smear his name and label him as a racist, all led by Meeester Ferguson.Well this thread is about a despicable character...
I can only hope that in the reverse situation it would be an absolute minority of United fans acting like such vile bastards. Certainly not journalists or anyone associated so closely with the club.

But have we ever had anyone as unpleasant as him playing for us anyway?
He came to this country with a tarnished reputation & hasn't won many friends with his diving even before this...
Hard to say. Some might say that Roy Keane played for us - someone who deliberately injured another player and even admitted so in his book afterwards.
The Independent and Sam Wallace think this is "a nightmare of case". In my opinion there is only one outcome in this case.
There is talk about cultural difference's. This subject is irrelevant to the case. Wherever you go in the world you have to follow the law of the country you visit. Not hard to understand. What's the other option?
Some argue that Evra started the argumentation by calling Suarez "South American man" and that this line is also insulting. It is but it's not illegal. But to refer to color or race when you address your opponent, especially after you have tap his/her's head, is both insulting and illegal.
The third defense I heard of is that Evra has a history of using the "rase card", the defense will probably argue that the accuser is a well know user of the "race card". Have you heard this before? Some defense lawyers have a habit of accusing rape victims to act/dress to sexy in a way to devalue the victims character. This defense have no relevance to the case, even if it's true.
The interesting point for me is.
Should the FA judge Suarez the same way a civil court would do or should they argue that in a football game there is other rules? This is what this case is about. Any other verdict then guilty will immediately open the door for Evra to continue to a civil court. Are the FA willing to take that chance and in the future risk to lose their superiority? That's the big challenge for the three man jury.
There's a huge difference between "standing by your player" or the "innocent until proven guilty" stance compared to some of the disgraceful comments that Liverpool fans and even Liverpool Football Club have been coming out with.
I'm pretty sure that, though we would've condemn racism, we would've probably protected our player until he was charged for something. I think I would refuse to believe what our player was accused of until he was proven guilty, simply because of my loyalty to United. Racism is a horrible thing, and should never be seen on the pitch (or anywhere for that matter), but I honestly think that most of us would've stand by our player until he was found guilty
Wonder what liverpools negro fans think or is it the white support speaking on their behalf?
I've yet to see a black man in the City of Liverpool. That's almost entirely true.
Manchester is a multicultural city, Liverpool is not.
Now thats just stupid.
C'mon, there is anti club/city rivalry and then there's taking it too far. Are you suggesting that the entirety of merseyside is racist?
If you are, you're wrong. Supporting Liverpool aside, the Liverpudlians are wonderful people.
Stop it.
You know you're actually saying all white men are racist? Now THAT is stupid.
I'm merely saying I've been to Liverpool 2-3 times and I've noticed there are very few black people there, at least compared to Manchester. My two Liverpool supporting friends agreed. Just an observation, that's all.
Now thats just stupid.

Fair enough. my misinterpretation. sorry.
What I don't get about it is Suarez has spent five years in The Netherlands before he transferred over here so to say "His culture is different!" just seems ridiculous to me. Is racist slurs acceptable in The Netherlands then? Surely if they aren't, he must have learned that such words are not acceptable in European society?
