Evra accuses Suarez of racist remarks | Suarez guilty of racial abuse

Ordinarily I'd agree, but in this case everyone neutral seems to agree with us? There is no support in the media for Liverpool's position.

I think it was less clear cut before the statement. What's even funnier about that statement is the quickness in which almost all liverpool fans embraced it as the greatest rallying cry since "we'll fight them on the beaches" and literally everyone else just fell about laughing at it.

Definitely.

The funny thing is Liverpool ae victims of Liverpool, so they might as well march on themselves.

If they weren't so quickt to jump to Suarez' defense, they could have taken a bit to learn what really happened, then got Suarez to publically apologise using the culture difference excuse, say he's learned his lesson and got a slap on the wrist from the Fa. That would have diffused the whole thing and Terry takes the headlines.

They are just digging their own hole ,and it's brilliant viewing.

Part of the statement is running as the ticker on LFC TV, directing viewers to the website for the whole statement.

Glad to see Suarez got that sort of punishment, it's just what the lying little cheating scumbag deserves. After all he's done to get a bad name (the WC handball incident, biting etc) it feels so great to see him being brought back down to size.

The continuing circus from Liverpool is proving excellent reading too - keep it up LFC!

Yep. For example a couple of posts on Bluemoon. Nothing new in what they're saying there. They've even been talking about the "previous allegations" statement and how it's not true:

100% agree levets , that statement about evras integrity is just as bad as the racist slur.i cannot believe its been posted. feck me they are thick

one thing that really pisses me off is that im backing a player who i detest, however football aside, he does not deserve it.regardless who he plays for.

for once the FA has picked its skirt up and shown some scrotum.

I agree completely mate, maybe you misunderstood my post - what I don't get is Liverpool FC's statement backing up their player when he has admitted what he said, if you read LFC's statement again they seem to make out he had no charge to answer.

Becaue we are talking about Liverpool. They can never see their wrongs and always believe there’s a conspiracy against them. I honestly cant see any other club come with such an embarrassing statement. They even called for Evra to be banned

Aye, and it was almost instant. I hesitate to use the word prepared, but you know what I mean.

Well, they'll have known about the result before the FA released their statement and I think they'll have had a pretty good idea of what the result of the investigation was going to be so it wouldn't be surprising if they had at least most of this prepared in advance which makes it all the more shocking that they've released that. From what has been said earlier in the thread, it seems that they did eventually realise it probably wasn't the best idea to say that and tried to remove the statement but the damage was already done.

With their statement they should have just ended it after the first two paragraphs and maybe add a sentence saying that they'll support Suarez (though that's a given):

Liverpool Football Club is very surprised and disappointed with the decision of the Football Association Commission to find Luis Suarez guilty of the charges against him.

We look forward to the publication of the Commission's Judgment. We will study the detailed reasons of the Commission once they become available, but reserve our right to appeal or take any other course of action we feel appropriate with regards to this situation.

After that it went downhill rapidly.

I was right when I immediately and blindly declared him guilty because he had bit a man's shoulder in the past.

Lessons:

NEVER believe a shoulder biter. They are usually racists.

And ALWAYS declare men guilty before evidence is in.

I would guess that pretending to say the word 'mate' whilst knowing full well it actually meant. I.e.; he was trying to wind Evra up by using racial connotations.
This is different from Terry who if found guilty will get 6 months for saying what he did.

you'd think Terry'll cop the remainder of the season - looks pretty much cut and dried with the footage clearly showing what he said. That, in turn will show Suarez' sentence to be lenient, which, in my view, it is.

I still cant believe that many think Suarez didnt know that 'negro' is an offensive word. Its not like he has never watch tv and never been outside his country. Plus, he said it in a heated argument; I'm sure he meant to be, at least, 'not friendly' to Evra.

Refering to the Chelsea incident is also weak. Suarez has many previous bad things that he did too, and I'm sure they are all irrelevant to his temperament.

This takes 'defending your own' to a new level.

What, the account called "Not Mario Balotelli"? ..Never?

None of them provided a link to the tweet (four of them in total), one 'found it on the web' and the rest just copied his status.

I provided all four with that link.

Another one went 'ah....' clearly very disappointed but at least he accepted that it was fake.

The first few lines itself are a train wreck.

We look forward to the publication of the Commission's Judgment. We will study the detailed reasons of the Commission once they become available, but reserve our right to appeal or take any other course of action we feel appropriate with regards to this situation.

We find it extraordinary that Luis can be found guilty on the word of Patrice Evra alone when no-one else on the field of play - including Evra's own Manchester United teammates and all the match officials - heard the alleged conversation between the two players in a crowded Kop goalmouth while a corner kick was about to be taken.

Basically they admit they haven't read the commission's findings yet. Then go on to make judgements on Suarez and Evra without y'know knowing the facts of what the commission has based its judgments on.

I'm convinced LFC and Sepp Blatter employ the same PR people.

just want to say that I admire Evra for sticking to his principles and forcing this shit of a human being into the light so all can see what he is.

We need more people like him to fight the good fight against such people and not go the Blatter bollox way....

Delighted with the classy and dignified way united and evra have behaved.

Very proud of you patrice

Even the language used early in Liverpool's statement doesn't sit right.

"We look forward to the publication of the Commission's Judgment"

The bolded part isn't used in the right context. I understand it's a common phrase in official statements and whatnot, but they're looking forward to reading why their star player is a racial abuser? Obviously not and they plan to pick holes in it, but it's still an odd turn of phrase and gives the impression of stupidity or sarcastic patronisation on their part.

Suarez was initially accused of racist comments because he has bitten a shoulder before, not because someone heard him say it. Fact.

Suarez was found guilty before any investigation is done, fact.

I wonder which video Kenny will have playing in the background at his next press conference - Roots?

That's standard legalese. The big mistake is not to shut the feck up after that.

And Suarez does have previous. In fact he has far far more previous than the average professional footballer. The whole thing is typical Suarez, I've already witnessed here in the Dutch league.

Yep. Guess it's similar legalese to stuff like: 'I welcome the enquiry into these allegations of kangaroo sex which I'm accused of....etc'

Not that I've ever been accused of having sex with kangaroos, you understand.

I just don't understand how the Scousers can be so blind on this issue. I like to think that I'm looking at it all somewhat impartially (and I can understand why they're so angry, having their best player banned for so long) but really, some of the posts on RAWK are ridiculous.

He called a black player 'negrito' continuously, knowing he was getting riled by it, in a country where it is offensive to use that term. How can the RAWKites not see the mistake in that?! I'd love for someone to explain it to me, I'd ask RAWK myself but they've shut registrations...

I think it's time for Liverpool fans to have one of their patented march-from-pub-you-were-going-to-anyway-all-the-way-to-the-stadium-you-were-going-to-anyway protests.

It's actually amazing, trying to dress this up as some sort of Fergie/FA conspiracy is just laughably ignorant on Liverpools part. They can't understand that this is bigger than any United/Liverpool rivalry.

Suarez has admitted to using the word, its completely plausible that given the magnitude of the match and the body language during the exchange that Suarez used race AGAINST Evra, that's what he's been charged for, what are they not getting their heads around?

Its fair enough that they've been defending Suarez but now that he's been found guilty, accept it, move on, but coming up with this statement, these conspiracy claims, justifications, is just disgraceful.

The statement, Dalglish's comments through all of this, the fans reaction, it just reaffirms everything I hate about Liverpool football club.
They'd gone under the radar for being so shit and city were fast becoming the team to despise but after all this, its apparent who the real enemy is.
I hope city smash them to pieces in their semis, I hope they never play in Europe again, I hope everyone sees just how despicable and how poorly they've behaved during this whole thing. Rotten club. Where did it all go wrong?

Found this on the Sunderland forum. Very apt.

I'd like to thank the Guardian for placing their article on the FA's verdict right bloody next to the headline: 'Manchester United friendly was fixed,' which has only confirmed Liverpool forum members in the rectitude of their troglodytical worldview. Cheers, lads.

TBH this is just childish nonsense in support of a (probably unintended) racist comment made by one of your players.

Suarez admitted making the comment, he says that he didn't think it would cause offence. REALLY ? So he was saying it merely to pass the time of day to a fellow competitor, was he ? No offense intended eh ? Bullshit.

Saying that it isn't taken as a racist insult in Uruguay is the same shit that the BNP come out with when trying to justify calling someone a Paki (it's not racist in their country). This is an age old get out clause for racists everywhere. The answer to whether a word is deemed racist (in case you don't know) is how the word is perceived by the recipient.

But the real bottom line is this, if Suarez REALLY wasn't a racist, he would have been mortified at the upset his comments caused and gone all out to apologise. Instead he's hid behind the club and got them to defend him. He's tried to get off with as little punishment as possible (i.e. none) and not withdrawn the remarks or apologised unreservedly for them to Evra in person. IMHO he's behaved in a similar manner to Bowyer at Leeds when he was caught beating up some lads.

By his actions (or inaction if you prefer) Suarez has the appearance of a racist and your club is now in the process of dragging your name through the mud due to their unquestioning support for him. The actions of Liverpool FC in releasing that statement THAT STILL DIDN"T CARRY AN APOLOGY FOR THE INSULT TO EVRA is absolutely incredible and totally crass.

Fair play on the Sunderland forum

That statement is incredible. So to sum it up they've wrongly accused Evra of making accusations before, used the Sepp Blatter defence of saying he can't be racist as he's mixed race and they've called the FA biased.

Nice going Liverpool, couldn't of done much more to feck it up for yourselves.
