So Sammy Lee of goal.com(who is one of the biggest ITK of Man City atm) says that Fabinho is not gonna happen for City on his FB Live feed

skip to 1:01:58

He discusses Fabinho 3x, in the above video

Poor Monoco (well they will be stacked with cash but no squad left)

Moneyball is ridiculous these days, the desperate need for immediate success is crazy.

Monaco are allowing their team to be ripped apart it seems.
They will replace all these players quickly. Supposedly their kid Allan Saint Maximin is a great winger talent, for example. Tielemens too is another they can use to replace the leavers.

Dont think so, plenty of journalists and contact people know the difference between United and City, they cant be that daft if they work in and around the football business
Many people know us just as "manchester" in Europe.

It's not unreasonable for people to hear manchester and expect it's us. Hell, even Robinho thought he was joining us

While that might be true with Silva, Fabinho got linked with City, which suggests there is a difference. Only if our targets wrre getting linked with United but joined City it would be suspicious, but we are both in for some of the same players it seems (Mendy, Fabinho, Van Dijk, also got linked with Ederson)

Which is exactly what i'm saying. We get linked with Ederson when we don't even need a GK, suddenly a few days later he's signing for City?

Either these papers are purposely linking us to city targets to make them seem like they are beating us, or they're just getting weirdly confused.

I thought that too but he literally goes on to say that he didn't think that Ederson would happen and now it looks like it is so looks like he is just guessing.
Perhaps, but he says so matter-of-factly that Fabinho isn't happening.

I think you should relax a bit, all this transfers are getting too much for you :)

I think that we are interested in some of the same players, some papers are just unreliable, some papers are purposefully linking us with City players to force their hand and maybe some get us confused. But you are making it sound like thats the case for most of them.

Fingers crossed. We needed this kind of player for a while now and I'm pretty sure he'd fit in Mourinho's tactics.

Is he better or that much than Eric Dier? Real analysis?

I think that he is more comfortable on the ball and more agile while Dier is physically more dominant.

Quotes from Fabinho's father in February 2017.

Back in the summer of 2012, a young Fabio Henrique Taveres, or more simply known as Fabinho, joined Real Madrid Castilla on a season-long loan. The Brazilian impressed first team coach José Mourinho so much that he was handed his debut, still a teenager, after just a few months with the reserves. Fabinho came on for the last 15 minutes in the 6-2 home win against Málaga on 8 May 2013 and even set up Ángel Di María for the winner.

Soon after that, he returned to Rio Ave who farmed him out again - this time to Monaco, signing a permanent deal with the club in 2015. At Monaco he is usually fielded as a defensive midfielder and yet he has already racked up seven goals this season; he is also the team's penalty taker.

Years after Real Madrid allowed him to slip out of their fingers, Fabinho is being courted by some of Europe's top clubs. His father João told Canal+'s J+1 programme this week that his son has received a lot of tempting offers: "I've held talks with Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal... and Barça have also made enquiries about him".

Fabinho, says his father, has his heart on playing in the Premier League: "He likes Manchester United and likes the way Mourinho works, but he has a small weakness for City...".

So this post basically leaves us none the wise on his intentions of where he is moving to, but that he is endeared to Mourinho who gave him his debut at Real.

This chap seems to be a Monaco ITK. From what I gather he's saying we're close to signing Fabinho?

If he signs for City, this place will melt down quick. I'm not sure Pep will want a non-midget in his team though.:)

Online translation, Departures: Mendy for ~ 45 million in City Fabinho to United from + to + hot Bakayoko? Chelsea, United and Arsenal Nardi on loan

Sammy lee says its not haappening for city. Looks like we might get him.

Essentially means more and more likely.

I wrote online translation, if any who can do a proper one feel free, I think it means that we are really interested in Bakayoko also, maybe, and I'm just guessing, as backup for pogba

If we can get Fabinho and Griezmann, it will be awesome!

Does that mean that we're not spending 70m on dire?

I think it means...things have gone from positive to very positive. There are probably easier ways he could have expressed his meaning!

it means warmer and warmer if you translate it directly, which means basically Fabinho closer and closer to United.

I know, just got confused by the + to hot +.

Yeah alright, let's hope this is the case.

If Jose has given Ed a list with four roles and a few options per role, do we think that Fabinho would be in the same "role category" as Eric Dier? And, if so, I wonder which of those was higher preference?
