Fantasy Premier League 18/19

How could some of you messed up your team so much to use your wildcard so early?!

I do this every year. I panic way too easy....after game week 1 you can get a picture of who'll be starting and what cheap 4m players will start so I can push for max expenditure on my starting eleven.

Salah really should be classed as a forward.
I agree. I mean there's so few good picks at FWD this year that I only went for 2 with 5 in midfield which I've never done before. I guess that's essentially the usual 3-4-3.

So many knee jerkers will be doing Jota > Neves, Eriksen > Mane, Davies > Mendy/Robertson.

Disagree, there's plenty of money left to spread the talent around, you don't need two premium forwards this year in my opinion. Salah + a premium forward and someone like Zaha gives you plenty of money to spread around.

I have Salah and Aubameyang now with also Eriksen in midfield. Hope Tosun or Arnautovic score 10-15 goals. I am considering downgrading Jota, van Aarnholt, Tosun and Arnautovic though and getting another premium player like Mané, Firmino or Sterling.

Wildcarding in the first few weeks might actually be the optimum strategy, especially if you tank in GW1. You'll fix your team and get the added team value which will benefit you later in the season.

One GW of data is probably not enough though, I'd wait a week or two. If you're off to a flyer this obviously doesn't apply.

I’m in the Jota > Richarlison boat. Everton fixtures just too good to ignore and they look much more attacking than last season
It's a fair move, but think Jota will get a big haul soon. I have both. I think those who ditch Eriksen will regret it most.

86 points so a good start. And I had Ricarlison and Jota on the bench so lost out on an extra 15 points by putting Rashford and Mitrovic in the starting lineup instead! Doh!

I think Mendy and Robertson are the two stand-out picks this season as far as defenders go.

Mane could go on and have an incredible season.

Neves is pretty knee-jerk though.

I picked Luke Shaw for my draft but how likely is it that he features in GW2 or anything beyond that?

A friend removed young and I am tempted to nick him as a 6.0m player.

Why do you have so much money sitting on your bench?

Was going to put Sterling in but I think I actually prefer Delle Alli at 2.0 less. Besides City will rotate their players too much this season with all the talent they have.

Jota I want badly but Wolves have a tough run coming. Seri is someone I want to have in my team, his passing should get him assists and he has a nice shot.

I cannot figure out defense. Is Wan Bissaka really going to play much at Palace?

Shaw has done enough to retain his spot in GW2. I quite fancy Young to play at RB ahead of Darmian who (hopefully) will leave the club this week.

Agree, Ive all three but think Davies could easily score 12-15 pts this weekend. Jota will outperform Neves over the season, I hope.

Yep, I’m already thinking about how to get Alli into my team. Might trade Tosun for Jimenez and B. Silva for Alli. Need to follow Jimenez a bit more closely first though.

That's what I was thinking. It would be a big hit to kick out Shaw and put Young in his place. Darmian already is on the leave right? So with our squad at stretch I guess he should be out on loan soon.

I am 2/8 on the waiver list and I'm quite sure everybody is going to go for Kepa. My friend who is 1/8 is a bit clueless with that so I will essentially have first pick.

I have Foster and Fabianski on rotation but should I go for Kepa over Young in the waivers? Seems like a no brainer? I dunno.

because I wasn't sure everyone would start. Plus means I can transfer out someone of a decent price and upgrade to a big name pretty easily if I have to.

Yeah, don't think Salah showed any signs of slowing down compared to last year, a must have. For me it's not about Salah or Mane-Firmino combination to cover for Salah. More like Salah AND either Mane or Firmino and by the looks of it, it would be even worth considering to triple on the scouse and add Robertson in the mix too. I had Salah, Mane and Robertson this GW, and still had enough quality all over the pitch and ended up at 105 points. Less set-and-forget type of players and more rotation depending on the fixtures.

like a twat I put my team up on here a week or so ago and took some advice and removed Jorginho and Neves from my team as I was told it looked to defensive. I shall not be doing that again.

First week is like every week... I change Zaha and Richarlison for Schürrle and Rondon

My strategy is normally at the beginning of the first International Break...usually 5-6 weeks into the season and you know what's what + you get 2 weeks to maximise profit because loads of transfers happen.

What strategy do you employ to bench - keep all players cheap below 6.0 or have someone who can go into first team?

I was thinking about having cheapest possible.

Looks like prices didn't go up?

It ususally takes a couple of days before there are changes after the first week. Nobody knows for certain yet how many transfers it takes to impact a change. The site I use to watch possible changes had 7 players to go up last night, but this morning there are just two players over the 100% threshold.

I hate that if a player goes up in price, you don't get the instant benefit but if they go down, you lose money instantly.

You try to have cheap options that play. This year seems easier that other years. Three 4.0 defenders played the first game. I have Wan-Bissaka, but kept him on my bench. Neves and Kante look good midfield options at 5.0. Unfortunately there is no 4.0 keeper that will play and 4.5 strikers are iffy.

I decided to play this game in order to jinx every other team. Those I put on were crap. (Alexis for example)
So putting United players off, and Salah, Mane, Aguero, Kane, Hazard, blah blah on.

You can thank me at the end of the season.:D

my tactic is as cheap as possible but still a decent player but not a waste of money having a £7m player on the bench. Someone who starts most matches should one of your "starting XI" not play

First 2 transfers done and put mane & mendy in for Sanchez and Bellerin. City will keep more clean sheets and my wishful thinking United will become as free scoring as Liverpool were exactly that, wishful thinking. Still got Hazard and De Bruijne and Neves in my midfield with the addition of Mane I'm happy to take a 4 point hit.

Yeah that's a bit of a downer and tripped me a couple of times last season, because I reacted a day too late.

Subbed Smalling for Mendy today for the same reason. Mendy will be this season's Otamendi.

Come back again at the end of the season and reassess that comment. Jorgino scored from a pen that he likely won't be taking again when Hazard is back.

Neves will score the odd worldie though as he did last season but he's still a defensive midfielder.

Like others have said Kante could be the intriguing one this year as he's playing further forward. In fact that Chelsea midfield in general if Kovacic nails down the spot ahead of both of them. He's only £6m

Managed to get 72 points with De Gea; Van Dijk, Lascelles, Alonso; Mane, Townsend, Richarlison, Sane; Tosun, King & Firmino (c).

I am moving to 4 at the back with Robertson and swooping for Bernardo Silva in midfield. I am not sure anymore that he will go back to the bench, he has been performing great.

If the players price go up do you also get more for trading him?

There is a 50% sell-on fee if I'm not mistaken. The official FPL website gives the following example: if you buy a player for £8.3m and when you transfer him his price is £9.0m, his selling price will be £8.6m.

I’ve got Eriksen.
But typically I in the Alli camp.

Should I stick to eriksen (vs alli)?

You will get 0.1 for every 0.2 increase.
