Fantasy Tournament: World Cup All-Time All-Stars

I fully understand why no one is PMing though, the restrictions are really tough, imo and I think we all (execpt Anto probably) will have to change our picks quite often. It's not like you can send someone 3 leftbacks and be fine, you need to switch between continents/winners/years and often adjust other positions then.

No excuse not to send one pick. If he gets taken, fair enough

Well, I'm quite confident I will have a side I'm happy with. I'm picking according to plan bar the Blanc hiccup, but do keep reordering the picks. I had Yashin down for the 9th turn in the off chance he was still available then.

Ocwirk must be some pick, if he's that irreplaceable in Aldo's team

58 or 66 I guess, he did have that brainfart in 62.

Similar to Zizou, his best tourno was actually the 1960 Euros and the WC immediately after a disaster. It's his breakthrough tourno and last one he did well in, although never well enough to warrant Golden Glove/All-Star Team inclusion. Still a top keeper mind, and one likely to carry a lot of weight with the voters.

I've got it this way too. Can any nice gentleman confirm it?

Of course that's what it relates to, the OP is clear. If the first WC appearance was 1970 or earlier it's pre, otherwise post.

Must be a newbie forum draft legend. I had literally never heard of the guy until Fergus (I think) picked him in his all-time side alongside five other sweepers/liberos/centrehalves (I'm not sure I exaggerate!). Seemed an impressive player from what I read, mind, but I found it weird how everyone went "ah!", "wow!" and I was like "Who?".

The guy even scored against Uruguay in 54 and I had no recollection of him  Not that I or anyone ever had any interest in that third-place game.

I know him as a player mainly because of the hype around the semifinal in 54 in which he wasn't impressive at all. All the fecking talk about that great Austrian team, clear favorites, no chance for us to go through. Well, yeah, nevermind .

Aldo's off to 1954 to hunt down a replacement.

Good call Anto, he was very tidy in 1998. When folk were talking about the decline in quality of left-backs I didn't see Lizarazu as any worse than some who had already gone.

Imo the best leftback left in the draft, quality pick. Love him. Just be careful, if you play Fergus, he might want to slap Matthäus again

Sorry for the delay, had to decide between a few names and it wasn't easy due to the constraints.

Anyway, glad to have at least one piece of that legendary 98 backline!
