how old is giggs? My point is that at his age he shouldnt be the most creative player on the team, he should be a luxury for us at this stage

Good team btw, worrying for fletcher that he doesn't make the team even today, seems like Fergie isn't happy with him.
I think Fletcher is still being eased back into the squad. Fergie said he's giving him a game a week. I think in fairness, this game might be a bit too much for Fletcher. Yeah, he played in the City derby but I guess on the evidence from the Villa game, Fergie feels more assured with Jones and Giggs.
Should work out nicely. Hopefully Jones can continue his disciplined performance that he showed us on saturday. Basel know how to break effectively and they're more dangerous with Shaqiri in there.

Fergie was very pleased with Nani's efforts as a main striker after the Villa-game and said he might use him in that role again in tonights game. No matter how they start out, I think we'll see lots of interchanging from our front 4 tonight.

Well, I agree somewhat but the fact that he is our most creative player at his age should really be a testement to his ability rather then to our other midfielders, right? We got some great, creative players in Anderson and Cleverley though both lack the vast experience and intelligence that sets Giggs apart. If not for the tons of injuries we've suffered, I'm sure that we wouldnt have to rely on him for creativity as much as we currently are but let's just appriciate his ability while we're still able to.

So what about scholes? When you age, your physical capabilities go down. That says nothing about your football brain though. Perfect reason why some wish scholes was still playing now. You just dont lose that quality because you age, although your legs will begin to struggle to handle the pace of the game. That's a different story though. Talent is talent. Just because Giggs is 38 doesn't mean we should be ashamed that he is our most creative player. It's the quality that he brings to the side. It's a miracle that we can still use him at his age. At this point in time, our midfielders don't bring the quality that Giggsy does but then again that's why he's our Welsh Wizard. Long may it continue.

Nani and Rooney have both been a great source of creativity for us. The problem for the last few weeks or so has been that they've both been in a poor spell of form and hopefully that'll turn around sooner or later.
You make it sound like Giggs is the only creative outlet when he isn't. Not every team has a lot of creative players and usually when one is in poor form the other plays well. This time both of our main creative outlets have had a poor spell and it's good that we can call on Giggs to help out. There's no shame in that.

Would had hoped Fletcher in the place of Jones but when we have Giggs and Park to bring experience into the squad. Also Jones has proven his value so I have no worries about him playing tonight. Just score and then be sensible with the ball and we're there..
I'd imagine Giggs is in the centre attacking, jones deep, park on the left and Young inside forward off Rooney.
fecking hell, watching the coverage of this game will be shit as feck. Danish TV apparently thinks it's great idea to show both Manchester games at once (not sure how it'll work, they'll probably switch game every other minute so you don't have a clue what's going on in either game). On top of that they've already referred to the chances of either clubs qualifying for the knock-out as "slim". Right, the chances of Manchester United drawing or winning against a Swiss team in a very important game is "slim". Pathetic fecking coverage. Just feck off, I'm finding a Chinese stream so I won't know when they're talking shit.
Well he's in the squad isn't he? He's an important player for us and does a job that few other players do. If you don't know which types of games Park excels in by now there's no point wasting anyone's time.
I'm so glad we're not playing with just 2 in midfield. I hope we've seen the last of us playing 4-4-2 in important games, it's such a dinosaur formation.

Our midfield lacks creativity without scholes and you cant deny it, giggs isnt even a natural CM. Anderson Carrick and Fletcher are more defensive. Maybe cleverly will be the answer but we must wait

How is Giggs not a "natural CM"?
I mean seriously? He's not just a converted winger anymore, he's been playing in that position for three seasons now and has had some amazing displays there. I can understand people whining about him being counted as a Centre Mid when talking about our Midfield and the need for enforcements because he won't be here for ever but to dismiss his quality in that position in a single game when he is fully fit is just ridiculous.

Be interesting to see how we make sure Giggs, Park, Young and Nani don't get in each other's way, hopefully they don't all tend to drift to the wide areas and make us too predictable, but I think Fergie will try to surprise Basel with which of those players comes inside - it might be as someone suggested like against Villa with Nani inside, or maybe Young, or maybe they'll all interchange. I'm actually excited to see how this team does, but we need Rooney to get where the goals are.
