Ferdinand surely needs a rest ahead of Inter after 120 minutes at Wembley, then 90 today. Got a feeling one of Rooney and Berbatov will be spared as well as I rather want the two of them play against Inter than Tevez.

Nope

Sir Alex Ferguson hopes Rio Ferdinand's 120-minute Wembley workout has set him up nicely for the run-in at the heart of United's defence.

Rio has played in only eight of United's 15 games so far in 2009, having missed more than a month over December and January with a back injury he sustained in the warm-up against Stoke on Boxing Day.

But Sir Alex feels the defender is back in the groove after his appearance in the penalty shoot-out win over Spurs in the Carling Cup final on Sunday.

"I wanted to play Rio in the Carling Cup final because he's not played a lot of games since December," the Reds boss said in his pre-Newcastle press conference.

"I needed to get him back into his rhythm. He's a big lad and big defenders need to play games.

"Now he's got a really good game under his belt, I hope Ferdinand and [Nemanja] Vidic will be a solid partnership between now and the end of the season."

Score: Fulham 0 - 1 Manchester United

Comments: Although I predicted a win I can see us going out here, either that or a draw, either will be a loss imo.

Not too shabby. Scholes and Anderson usually don't work well together in midfield, but I guess it will be different with a three man midfield.

In what world does Gibson start in front of Anderson? Answer not in this one, he got a start last week and showed he was out of his depth, if he gets a start this weekend may. Also, why would Giggs start 4 days before Inter? Wake up McFly!

For some reason, I have a feeling that because we've already won the League Cup, SAF might field in a severely weakened team.
Using Nani, Tevez, and Anderson to add explosiveness to the game when Fulham decide to go for a 10-man defence, with Giggs and Scholes to add experience.

It's the FA Cup... I think it's safe to say we'll rest a few players for Inter, but I don't think we'll see a 'weak' team but a team which is good enough to secure us going through to the semi-finals.

Foster
Neville (c) - Vidic - Evans - Fabio
Fletcher - Giggs - Anderson
Nani - Rooney - Tevez

Ronaldo, Evra, Carrick, Scholes, Park, Berbatov, Ferdinand, O'Shea and Van der Sar will all be starting against Inter (IMHO), but it's very hard to guess who will play on Saturday...
We'll go through I reckon, but it's going to be a tough fight.

Much better to have 4-4-2 with Nani covering the right. We all know Fletcher is hopeless and a liability when he played on the right. In central midfield, Fletcher would be awesome, on the right, he is not going to offer much to the team. Keep the centre midfield pairing that beat Chelsea, that would be a good way to approach Fulham in this Cup-tie.

Agreed.
The 4-3-3 on paper is probably a bit misleading, it should be more like Anderson playing on the left and Nani on the right. Our lack of wingers is obvious, I really want Ronaldo to have a rest on Saturday, but we also need Park on Tuesday (well, he might start against Fulham considering he didn't play at Wembley) and Tosic is not ready yet. We could use Hargreaves well now... :(

Nani
Fletcher
Anderson
Park

I have a feeling Rooney won't start against Inter, but Park and Fletcher will. Either Giggs or Scholes also will so the one that doesnt will play against Fulham. Evra and Vidic should be rested (maybe give Fabio a game?)

I'd be shocked if Rooney doesn't start againt Inter.

Why would Rooney not play?
