Gareth Bale is...The most expensive player ever?!

He'll be comofortably out of our price range unless he specifically wants to come to United, and there's no reason to believe that's what he wants.

Apparently he is a United fan. I think we will bid, there have been rumours. I don't think we will get him though unless we put all our eggs in one basket.

If Spurs finish in the top 4, I expect him to stay for another year at Spurs to be honest.

Yeah saw the goal this morning - a fantastic finish, yet he makes it look so simple.

Tottenham will have a busy Summer trying to fend off interest for him. I think he'll stay, and I hope he does stay there unless the only possible place he can come is United :D

@Flawless - United fan, hey? That's the first time I've heard that. If true, then it's some kind of bonus.

He's influencing almost every game he plays now isn't he. Id love him at United but like many have said he would cost a fortune.

Being United, a club who are frugal in the transfer market on rely on the prestige of our club to attract players rather than cash incentives, I have huge doubts about us purchasing Bale in the next couple of transfer windows. If he is sold, he'll be one of the hottest properties in the game, and you can see both Spanish superclubs being interested, as well as City, Chelsea and PSG. We simply won't be dragged into a bidding war with any of those clubs.

He doesn't get assists though remember....

To be honest I rated Vertonghen's goal better. RVP would be proud of that one.

Bale is world class now, and probably nobody could argue with him cleaning up at the Player of the Year awards again. I don't see how someone this good can be at a "non-elite" club as it was. Madrid is calling in my eyes and I see him going there.

I can see us offering a huge sum for Bale. He ticks all the boxes. Spending 50m or so wouldn't be a risk.

We're either in for Bale or Ronaldo, no question about it.

And let's be honest...our wing play has been below the standard expected at United. Young is a squad man so we can't complain too much about his play this season, but we all know about Valencia. As for Nani, if Bale or Ronaldo come in, Nani's gone.

You have to figure about 45-50m for Bale, probably closer to 60 for Ronaldo. Are they worth those prices? If you want to lift the Champions League trophy, absolutely. If you're content to repeat at English prem champions, probably not.

The pride that Sixpence gets from every good thing Bale does is a bit bizarre but Snake's burning hatred for everything to do with him takes it to a whole 'nother level. You're a strange bunch sometimes.

Pride is right. He's a Welsh player and we haven't had many good ones of those for decades, so we are going to milk it when one comes around. We are lucky to have such a talent.

His goal yesterday was sheer class, it's very unlikely we'll get him but if there was one player outside of Ronaldo I could see Fergie breaking our transfer record for it's Bale as he's British and a goal scoring winger/orward, Fergie's double kryptoinite.

Would be funny if he ends up at Barca, Snake would be start back tracking faster than a dog chasing a ball.

And he's still young. And he seems to have a good attitude. Quadruple-whammy.

He's bordering on unplayable at times and has developed into consistently one of the finest players in the country. He'd slot right in on our left wing but it's just a pipe dream in reality.

why would I do that? I never rated Alexis Sanchez and I can't say my opinion has ever changed since he went there.

I cant stand Bale or the hype that surrounds him, but I play up to it a little too just to make the fanboys squirm

Why do you dislike Bale may I ask?

His CR7 impersonations, his cheating, the way his cheating was swept under the rug for months while others were chased down every week for it. Last but not least, the hype, the fact that he's been put up as a £50m player or whatever, when better players in the league don't even get that treatment

I have no problem with him trying to "copy" so to speak Ronaldo. He's not a bad player to idolize. I can understand the diving hate, but I think it's unfair to dislike him because of the hype that he receives.

It's not his fault that there are dumplings out there who actually think he's in the same league as Messi.

Nevertheless, I'd say he's arguably in the top 5 players in the world at the moment.

He's not a cheat though. The odd dive here and there like pretty much every player out there. The Ronaldo impressions is a weird reason to hate a player. The rest has nothing to do with him. You can't hate a player because of what the media thinks of him. That's plain daft.

sorry stopped reading after this

His most productive position this season, in terms of goals and assists, has been AMC: 8 starts, 8 goals and 3 assists.

He is the perfect player for Alex Ferguson's Manchester United. SAF must be planning something.

So really, you don't like people's opinions and hype surrounding him? Because none of that points to anything he does on the pitch and what he has achieved this season more than any other cannot be "swept under the rug", not even by you.

Nobody likes a player as much as when he is overrated, but Bale is top class and I don't see why you can't just enjoy his football.

As someone has said above, I just don't see us getting into a bidding war with others over him.

The opening post always makes me chuckle...

"The best left sided player in europe" Some plonker on sky.

And also, hes worth "5 or 6 more times now, then when he was bought," That would mean £25mil to 30mil.

I know it was probably incorrect at the time (2010) and all, but this is true and then some now.

Well he's a cheat in the way that most players are cheats. I'm assuming singling someone out as one implies them being a serial offender ala Suarez.

Sums it up, he IS a serial offender. which brings me to what I have said below...

Thanks for emphasizing my point guys. Brwned was definitely right about it being a strange bunch.

In tears any time Suarez does anything, but desperately going out of their way to defend Bale, nose all bent out of shape because a few people don't like him. Brilliant

His portfolio of diving and contact-engineering is only trumped by perhaps Suarez in the Premiership.

No it isn't true. He plays in the middle now and there are better players than him in that role. If you're gonna say he plays on the left sometimes then there's a certain Ronaldo who plays on the left. If you mean best left footed attacker then there's obviously Messi and we have a left footer who plays for us who's better than him.

Best player in England on current form

Has to be top 5 in europe on current form
