Gareth Bale is...The most expensive player ever?!

Really?

All day long.

Whether or not it's a penalty, Suarez is very obviously playacting.

Oh, I thought you were suggesting he'd done 1 of his air dives again.

There's clear contact there and yes he's gone down easily but who doesn't? Does that mean everyone is a play actor?

On another note... WTF is Assou-Ekotto even trying to do there?! :wenger:

I really don't see how that isn't a penalty... Suarez makes a bit of meal of it, but it's still a foul regardless. It's a daft challenge from BAE.

That's a difficult one. I was talking referring to a single action, not the person. One action doesn't necessarily define someone. Obviously with players like Bale and Suarez the diving has become second nature, so we're justified in calling them divers. But does a single dive, or even a couple dives, make someone a diver? I'm not sure. If you murder someone, you will always be a murderer. But if you're lied once in your life that doesn't make you a liar. I think we should apply 'diver' rather like liar than murderer. Berbatov and Valencia hardly ever dive, but they've done it (both against Liverpool!). I wouldn't call them divers. Right? Right.

That's not difficult. You call that as a ref.

He tries to oversell it with the odd air hump whilst going over. As if he thought to himself 'I didn't go over theatrically enough, I have to make it even more obvious'.

Everyone who tucks their legs up behind them like that at the slightest contact is a diver, and whenever the ref sees someone do that he should award no penalty and a yellow card.

If he stays on his feet and gets pushed out of balance enough to lose control of the ball however it should be a pen.. the main problem is that refs dont reward honest players in the box, so everyone starts diving to ensure pens.

That's a stonewall penalty. Yes he goes down dramatically, but he always does that and its already cost him this season.

Obvious pk.

But one would rightly wonder if the Turkish cnut would have called it a pk if the attacking player were Nani or Welbeck. Probably not.

Thats a clear Penalty.

Suarez does go down a bit dramatically but so do 90% other players in the world these days.

Exactly. The defender knew it was a penalty, AVB said it was a penalty.
There aren't many strikers in the league that wouldn't have gone to ground.
At the end of the day it was a daft challenge.

He didn't even go down with the original foul, so in the end he looked a bit stupid falling over like that.

Clear penalty, reminded me on Ramos vs Evra situation, neither were going for the ball.

It's a clear penalty, but why it's taking up an entire page of the Gareth Bale thread, is far more debatable.

He was at Old Trafford that night.

Yup he was pictured that day, although I don't think he was a guest or something. He supports us IIRC.

Cheers, folks.
Quite surprised at that.

He was invited by fellow Welshman Ryan Giggs, as part of the celebrations marking the latter's career milestone.

How Bale must wish he could have the career Giggs has had.

I wouldnt be surprised to see him go for around £40 million.

According to wiki there are only around 10 transfers (inflation fee adjusted) to have been over £40 million. The caliber of the players on the list are rather higher than what Bale is at right now (barring Torres who had lost his way by that point) but considering it's Levy you wouldnt put anything past Spurs demanding of a fee up to £50 million.

70 million is just not happening. He's not going to want to go to PSG or Russia. 40m tops and that's if he doesn't get injured or everything he hits stops going in. His stock will never be higher than right now because he just isn't that good imo.
