Gareth Bale is...The most expensive player ever?!

In the Premier League this season, Wayne Rooney has 12 goals and 10 assists in 22 starts, yet you are so quick to personally assault this player of the club you claim to support. This is a disgraceful season from Rooney according to you, yet you use a very similar season from Walcott (who has also started more games than Rooney), to apparently downplay Gareth Bale's achievements. Very strange. Selective ignorance of facts to suit your irrational hatred of a player who has been one of the most important players of Manchester United's history.

This is one of the very strangest posts I've ever seen. Rooney wasn't even fecking mentioned! It's a Gareth Bale thread ffs!

No no, staying there is easy. He can only be ambitious if he moves to United.

He's wasting his time showing loyalty to the club that was willing to invest big money in him when he was young and stuck with him despite a very stale start to his career. What a knob he is.

Amazing how he didn't show the same loyalty to the club who invested in him as a kid, and brought him through their youth ranks.

It's the natural order of the food chain.

It's inevitable he will leave to a bigger challenge for trophies and a feck ton more cash, within a year most likely.

No question about that, Spurs will never be in the same league as United when it comes to club size, just like Southampton will never be anywhere near the size of Spurs. If Bale had any ambition he would have made sure the last deal he signed had a clause in it, and he would be packing his bags as we speak.

"... we will pick ourselves up again,” Bale said. “We will just have to regroup and give it another go. The team and the manager have been great. We have got the record points for the club in the Premier League. That would normally be enough to qualify for the Champions League, but it’s not meant to be again. It’s something we have to learn from. We are a young squad, and we will take it in to the future.”

All this use of "we" suggests that he continues to identify his future next season as being with Spurs.

It seems that all the Bale-to-United-muppets will need to focus their muppet-hopes elsewhere. What a shame.

It's ok, us muppets have moved on to Thiago Alcantara today anyway ;).

Who knows what tomorrow will bring.

I see Sergio Ramos has already started the tapping up, Glaston? I'd advise you to maybe not worry about our muppets too much, but Real's.

It wouldn't surprise me if Marca's photoshopping Bale, in a Madrid kit with a banana in hand on their front page as we speak.

You haven't been in football for long have you? You don't usually see players actually stating that he's leaving unless their actual muppets. Doesn't matter what players say really - their heads can be turned very, very easily.

With that being said, I can't see him leaving Spurs this Summer. Levy will just not entertain any bid unless its ridiculous- however much Bale might want to leave.

I'm firmly of the belief that he'll stay anyway but using the word "we" in a statement means absolutely nothing.

 Ridiculous clutching at straws there.

He should stay at Spurs. He is still very young and will have plenty of opportunities should Spurs fail to make the grade next year.

Not at all. The quote clearly suggests an identification with Spurs, framed in a positive and forward-looking manner.

The only "ridiculous clutching at straws" has come from the Bale-to-United muppets on here, who siezed (for example) on Bale's attendance at the Gigg's milestone match earlier this season .... despite the fact that Giggs had invited his fellow Welsh international and Spurs had given permission.

If Bale is anxious to leave Spurs, his use of the English language is perverse.

I think he'll stay at Spurs, this year at least, but not because he used the word we when he commented on Spurs failure to qualify for the Champions League.

Does Glaston think if he was possibly moving he'd have said he didn't give a feck about what Spurs do next year because he wouldn't be there, or that he'd use the word they instead of we? He currently plays for Spurs, the natural word to use would be we.

Statements in football like that really don't mean anything at all these days, even though I think Bale will stay anyway.

The saying 'we' isn't conclusive imo he is a Tottenham player currently so what else would he be expected to say? I do expect him to stay this season now but I think this season will be his last at Tottenham. The Champion's League football is important but players want to play for the biggest club's and Tottenham is not one of them.

I dont think he WILL move this season, if at all. But to say that his usage of the word "we" proves anything is naive at best and downright retarded at worst.

So.

Most posters now think he'll stay at Spurs for another season. But...that has nothing to do with his recent statement - which means nothing. But his recent statement is the only new development. Before that, most posters thought he'd leave if Spurs didn't get CL football.

It's all very puzzling!

Orrrrrr maybe it's different posters posting in this thread now hence the difference in opinion?

Indeed.

Bale will shortly sign a new contract at Spurs. His recent comments all fit in with this.

And then this thread will see a new round of moaning, groaning and back-tracking: he lacks ambition, he ain't that good anyhow, he was never going to be worth 50m+ in any case, Spurs are going nowhere etc etc

 that's when we tapped him up

And it will end with Spurs selling Bale, not reinvesting the money adequately and finishing 5th again.

You're delusional If you think that his long term plan is to stay with spurs. Players are only loyal to themselves.

Most likely he'll ask to leave this summer and levy will say no as usual, bale will create a fuss and then get his move next summer, it'll be a long and ugly process but that's just how it happens with levy, and then you'll come here and say that selling him was the right thing to do because you could use the money in other areas.

I haven't commented on the long term, which can take care of itself.

However, I'm very confident that Bale won't ask to leave this summer. On the contrary, I believe a new contract will be announced shortly.

I think if he's presented with a chance to join a top club while making a fortune in the process, he'll ask to leave. Do you honestly believe he could pass an opportunity to join barcelona or madrid? Why would he ?

For what it's worth i don't think we can afford him, because we won't pay silly money, but others can.

I wouldn't be too confident if i were you.

He needs to stop mucking around and move.

The wage quotations are purely to start a bidding frenzy.

With Neymar to Barca looking like a done deal R.Madrid will probably look to make a big signing themselves so might push on and go for Bale.

It is clear he is definitely open to the idea of staying another year and isn't desperate to leave but a mega offer comes in the club and player might have second thoughts. Like with Gotze who was told by Bayern now or never, if something similar is told to Bale he might force the issue then.

Inb4 the Glaston.

Bale would be a very popular signing with Real supporters, it seems - the most recent Marca fans' survey had him gaining nearly 70% of the total voting for prospective signings; players like Aguero, Cavani etc were nowhere.

His other votes hit the woodwork! #YAWN

Yep I can see with Madrid having lost out to Barca on Neymar - really pushing the bale issue now. Where's they play him though - considering they just signed Isco and they have Ozil? (Not to mention Di Maria). Push Ronaldo up top?
