James Wilson | On Loan to Brighton and Hove Albion

Oh januzaj, why did you think you were good enough for dortmund's 1st team.

Januzaj should have went to a less PL or Bundesliga club. If not then a Championship team fighting for promotion would have helped.

He was warned by both LVG and giggs but he insisted on choosing Dortmund.

Another ego that needs controlling.
I think that is why LVG let him go Dortmund as he requested, he needs to realise he isn't there yet.

That being said I do feel he is making an effort more than some think, he hired a trainer in the summer and plans to do the same in the winter break.

He could just do what the team coaches want.

He went from being a decent youth, to a good back up squad player, to a 'Stevie Me' trying to be the hero, to a non-team player, to now a bit part player.

He has the talent, but like the Richardson, Greening, Gibson type players think they have made it with a few appearances and they lose their discipline.

When the feck has Januzaj lost his discipline?Comparison with the likes of Richardson is as funny as it gets.Gibson certainly wasn't that type of player. He's just not good enough.

People should go listen to the recent interviews of Januzaj to know more about what kind of character he is.

Maybe they let him go to Dortmund because he's ultimately responsible for his own development. If he's happy there and gets a buzz from playing for that magnificent crowd it will only help his development. I've also noticed some very intelligent passes and runs from him, to which Dortmund might have contributed more than some championship club. It certainly would have been a brilliant choice if he'd made it to a starting player.

True, not to say he won't develop and I too have seen some decent things from him.

I just feel that the initial aim of the loan was regular playing time, that was the main reason both went on loan.

I feel he was slightly naive to believe he could get regular playing time at Dortmund. Season isn't over yet though.

I think that's a rather unfair comparison. He was the only bright spark in our entire season and was bigged up by fans and media as one of the best young talents in the world.

He'd already seen Pogba make a leap of faith and given the lack of trust shown by LvG I think he was right to go to Dortmund and try and see what he could do

He'll come back more humbled or more frustrated. Hopefully our next manager can show some belief in him so that he can live up to the label everyone else prematurely gave him.

I'm sure if Wilson had the interest of top clubs he'd have given it a shot as well

He's probably young, ambitious and a little bit overestimating himself, but what I like about it is that it's a (overambitious) choice for football. It's not a fancy club where he can be a star, be adored by the girls, go to the beach and enjoy the night clubs. Dortmund has a certain reputation for classical music and musea but that's about it. But they live football there and the club is very serious about fitness, tactics and development of talent. So it might turn out to be the wrong choice, there's a lot to like about it.

That is a good summary of the half so far.
Hah, yep. Brighton look more of a resilient hard-working side who are topping the table through grit and determination rather than being a completely dominant side who look like a PL side in the Championship. QPR appear to have the better players and chances. Admittedly, a lot of this assertion has been created through watching 28 minutes of their football all season and knowing more QPR player names.

Who needs crisp passing when you can have cheeky Charlie Austin dive and Sandro lunging in recklessly injuring himself?

True :D It has it's own charm though. I do Wonder if English talent would benefit from a more technical way of playing in the lower Leagues.

 You're not completely wrong though. I haven't watched Brighton that much more than you this season, but I followed them closely for the last few years as I was at uni in Brighton. They tend to play decent football - two seasons ago they were unlucky not to get promoted to the PL. Would love it if they could do it this season, especially with James getting a lot of playing time.

Not too bad that, Wilson. Made a chance for himself there.

One boring half of football though. I thought the Championship was mega entertainment?

Game started entertaining, but then became shit.

Wilson feeding on scraps really, though has made some good runs and created 1 decent shot opening on target.

QPR been better but neither team look like creating.

fecking hell that was two really good goals.

His movement has been fantastic. Unbelievable that he didn't get more games for us this season.

Playing well, hope he keeps it up all season and plays a major role for us next season.

Had a good game, time to turn it off.

Adnan was given a good number of chances to make a claim for a first team place. Compare him to when he first came on the scene, pretty much a team player. Once he started getting a few games in a row, maybe thought he had it made, he stopped passing, ran down blind alleys, became a bit of a diver and so on. There is no doubt he has ability, but he appears to have gone off the rails. If reports are right that he chose Dortmund over other teams advised by his manager and coach, then that also leads to maybe thinking he needs to come back down to earth. As far as Richardson and the others that I mentioned, they were all very good youth players, and made a pretty good effort when they got their chance in the first team, but after a while their performances and effort dropped. Contrast that to class of 92 where the players continued to put in a significant level of effort. If you don't see the similarities, then you don't, but I do.

Definitely a bright spark, but all of us went a bit OTT about him, because of the poor performances of our senior players.

I think Wilson made the right choice, he will play lots and develop faster, pretty much like Evans and Welbeck did. Adnan should have taken the advice of the coaches, he should have wanted to play every week, he is not going to develop sitting on the bench at OT or elsewhere. This is why I have concerns, maybe the media and fan support has gone to his head.
