This. Can we just change the thread title to Mata?
Or Mata came, as did the entire Caf.
Whoa, having read some of the comments on his blog I just realised how loved he was at Chelsea. Not one Blue has a bad word to say about him, really refreshing to see.
To be fair, it's not like we didn't have top players in our squad before we signed juan mata. These "can't believe juan fecking mata plays for us" quotes (and there have been loads) dont quite seem in line with the kind off footballers that have played for Manchester United these past two decades.Still can't believe that actually Juan fecking Mata plays for us. Maybe too early to say this, but feck it, he'll be one of our best signings ever and maybe we'll get now the fourth place.
Yes, but he was a Chelsea player. And came here at the time when we need these kind of players. To be fair, it's not like we didn't have top players in our squad before we signed juan mata. This - played really well. Expect Moyes to ruin him, though.Fantastic game among a steaming bunch of turds. Especially when he moved in behind the striker for the second half.
We looked a lot better when he came centrally and we played it through him. It wasn't a great display or anything but he showed he can add to the team. Think there was a chance towards then end where Evra could have hooked it back to him a second earlier and he'd have been in a great position. Lost the ball deep a few times though.
The worry is how much time he's going to get centrally when you consider our first choice would generally be Rooney and RVP. Mind you, he's still comfortably better than any of our wingers when he's out wide.
I think if Mata is allowed to tuck in then it's fine but we need one of RVP/Rooney to just drop in and make sure we can build up the play. I mean there were some nice little moments where you'd have one of or both Rooney and Mata quite deep and in a couple of passes they'd have maneuvered us up the pitch and that's what we're lacking, because once you'd done that and you have players like those two facing the opposition goal with the ball, then it just opens things up. But sadly for me Moyes wanted to go for a straight 442 for such a long period of the game and for me it's my biggest concern with him, we jut do not have the players to set up like that atm.
Yeah, again even if we do go for a straight 4-4-2 Mata will still perform better than pretty much all of our team, but you don't want to spend a record transfer fee on a player who's clearly brilliant and then not utilise him to his full potential.
