Liverpool v Manchester United

I'd like to see Jones in midfield for us with Rooney up top on his own. With Jones loveing to power forward, even at CB, he'd be a liability against the speed of Suarez or the resourcefulness of Bellamy. Hopefully, King Kenny will play the stupid card and bench one of their fast strikers and play Carroll. Rio and Vidic can manhandle Carroll easily. I don't see their wingers as being particularly fast, just need to play smart against Downing. It's the central midfield area that'll be where the game is fought and won.

Smalling--Rio--------Vidic---Evra
-------------Jones-------------
------Carrick------Anderson----
Nani---------------------Young
------------Rooney------------

4-1-2-2-1

As a side note: Why in the world did Doni go to 'Pool? Retirement?

Fergie on the game:

"We have been poor there of late," said Ferguson. "On a couple of occasions we have been out-fought by them, which is disappointing.

"The atmosphere plays a part. Every time we go there it is as if it's the biggest game of the century."

Relax, we need the break.

Very true! could not have come at a better time for us. Hopefully with smalling/ Vidic back and maybe Cleverly then we can find the form of the first couple of games. If we do find it Liverpool cannot live with us.

I can't see Smalling, Vidic, and Cleverley all being thrown in at Anfield straight after returning from injury. Ferdinand should probably start with Vidic, but Jones would get in at Right Back over Smalling, and I can see Fletcher, Park, or Giggs taking the spot over Cleverley, unless Sir Alex decides to go with Welbeck or Hernandez.

But it all depends on who's ready after the internationals. This is one time I'm happy there is an International break.

Unless Rooney comes back crocked. :nervous:

Hopefully we don't play shite like we have done there recently, otherwise we will lose, regardless of who is reffing.

Is the correct reply!

We wont have Wes or Gary to clatter one of 'em in the first 5 mins this year though.

Hopefully Andersons arse's someone off the ball

Each time we have played them for the last few years, I kept thinking that we couldn't play as badly against them again, so here's hoping for some improvement

I'm still trying to erase all memory from my mind but can't. Nani's header to set up Kuyt is possibly the most infuriating thing I've ever seen.

I hope someone wrecks Suarez early on, I wish Wes was still here just for that.

It's been far too long since we've performed at Anfield, has to come soon. Though saying that I don't give a feck if we win I'll be happy.

I do the same, and keep getting proved wrong! We gave Kuyt a hat-trick for goodness sake!

Anyway, this time I REALLY think we must improve on last time, so here's hoping! I'm quietly confident for this one.

Like many teams, they only raise their game when they're playing United. This is pretty shameful - an indictment on them and disrespectful to their fans.

Hiya mate.

most of our players are technically superior to Liverpool's. If we get a strong ref, we will beat them.

Hey, chief. :)

It'll be like a bear pit. They might win their 'cup final' but it'll make little difference at season's end...as usual.

Their LB is Enrique who is far from abysmal. He's been very good for them so far and was brilliant all last season.

Previous results irrelevant. All this 'due a win' stuff also irrelevant.

We'll start the game, at worst, even money for the win. At best, and IMO, we're favourites.

I'd field as many of the team that started the season so well as possible.

Welback/Hernandez

Only question marks are the partner for Rooney up top, and who is available in defence. Ferdinand should always play if he is fit and sharp, as should Vidic. Leaves a Smalling or Jones decision at RB. I think Jones has played himself into almost 'undroppable' status at the moment, so I'd opt for him.

I like Jones at right back more than I do in the centre (so far, anyway) so would go with that line-up.

I think Welbeck has earned the right to start ahead of Hernandez. Scored more goals and the team has generally performed better with him in the side.

Yeah I think Welbeck shades it too, although Hernandez is more likely to get us a poachers goal out of nothing. Great sub to have on the bench if he doesn't start.

Confident about this one. Liverpool haven't looked particularly good in the matches I've seen of theirs. I think we'll concede, but win by a couple.

I'd start hernandez with rooney. He should be dragging the likes of carragher all over the place specially with his lack of pace.

Confident about this one if we are anywhere close to our best, the liverpool midfield is no great shakes. just hoping we turn up because they'l be at their best.

So do I. I'd prefer Smalling in the middle, his positioning is better.

I'm 50/50 about Hernandez and Welbeck.

hopefully that donkey Dowd or even Walton won't be officiating, otherwise we will lose.

It's nothing to do with the ref. If we play to our ability, we'll beat them. If we play like we have done recently at Anfield, they'll beat us.

Apparently Vidic's fit, at least according to Mark Ogden.
