Poor first half from us. The midfield problem has reared it's head once again. It's not that our players have been awful; they're just not offering enough going forward. Carrick has been rather anonymous and while Cleverley is okay in possession, he just doesn't do enough with it to cause a threat. In the end, Van Persie is left isolated and frustrated up front because he hasn't been getting enough service to make an impact. It's a bit like on Monday, only this Liverpool side are actually willing to try and score unlike Chelsea who were more than happy to let us have a lot of the ball and take the point. Coutinho has been very good for them and looks as if he'll be a key player this season.
We've been poor out on the wing's too. I think Valencia should have probably started ahead of either Young or Giggs. Young has been very poor, while Giggs has shown that while he's still good on the ball and is more than capable of putting in some crosses on the wing, he's not got the pace or stamina to be playing out there in a high intensity away game such as this. Valencia, despite being a sub at right back, has probably offered more than the two of them going forward.
Anyway, it's only one half and the game isn't finished yet. We'll just have to hope we can pick it up in the second half since this game is far from finished. A bit worried we'll be down to 10-men by the end of it since a few of our players seem very frustrated.
