Liverpool vs. Manchester United

And what did Liverpool create?

I thought we were very good at controlling the game. It's true we didn't penetrate as well as we could have been but I thought we bossed the game in midfield till Scholes went off, which, given how poor our record at Anfield has been in recent years, was a good achievement. However, we had very little threat from the left hand side and Welbeck hasn't really played the lone striker role enough for the first team to know how to get involved in that system well.

We lost control when Scholes wen't off and after that we were poor I thought and In the end it was one mistake that cost us the game. So overall, I'm happy with the way we played at a difficult ground on a difficult occasion. Just not happy with Evra's lazy defending. Lazy would be the one thing you'd thing he'd not be on the day.

Well they had a game plan to play to Carroll's strengths and it worked...feck that we were controlling the game.

Don't know how you could call him lazy, he may have played the occasion but he wasn't lazy, and that wasn't entirely his fault

we only have the league to fight for now, and i don't give feck about that europa league, we probably go out in that competition as well.

Better than losing in the semifinal or the final to be honest.. We have way to many injuries to be competing in multiple competitions.

Let's concentrate on the league now..

The other problem we had was they knew we would be attacking from the right .. and it would be Valencia.. as we had nobody else...
So you could see sometimes 4 players marking Valencia..

Be nice to have some consistency from the refs. He went to his pocket after this then bottled a yellow at least. Then booked Rafael straight after!

Someone ban Silva from making another Matchday thread.

We've said that 3 times this season.

Well they scored twice, hit the bar, and Kuyt missed a sitter. And on top of that we defended badly. It's no use controlling the game if you don't create many chances and give stupid ones away on top of that.

Valencia hit the post...
Welbeck turned Reina but Skertel hooked it away

What we needed was a bit of luck. We have completely outplayed them. They just fluked it. The goalkeeper issue is completely irrelevant to the result. There is no reason to be on DDG's back again.

he was not as bad as some paint him out to be. really he did not have much to do today. he made a couple of errors...his positioning for their first goal was one. but our defenders were not great there either.

The reason we lost is we were toothless up front.

Conversely, we completely outplayed them but one key player underperformed.

With increasing amounts of frustrating losses, and given the general knee-jerk reactions to anything other than a win; it might actually save time and effort to just create an "official: Knee-Jerk reaction" thread for those that wish to extol the virtues of "end is nigh" ideology..

btw I thought the ref had a good game overall. That tackle was a yellow...but not a red imo.

just move on lads.

I was pleased we passed as well as we did with so many players out.

it hurts cause we lost to them....

on to the Stoke match.

Dissapointed to loose.

I went into it with fairly low expectations but on the whole I was pleased with the performance apart from the softness of the goals.

No idea why ITV chose to subject us frequent shots of Goofy though. Horrible little man.

The real winners today the racists in the crowd with the monkey gestures and shouts of black, black, black, black at one point in the second half and itv not once condemning it but cutting to suarez at every opportunity.

Only good thing out of going out is everyone will see how idiotic the liverpool fans really are and thats one less set of games to worry about in the run in to end of season with our current injury list.

Really? Didn't hear that from where I was sat. You sure it wasn't us chanting attack, attack, attack attack attack in the last 20 minutes?

How did the United end come across on tv anyway? Was well loud in the ground and I dont really want to witness replays of it to see if they picked us up well or not.

Yeah no that was definitely attack, attack, attack. Would have made the press by now if it wasn't!

Pretty good actually. Was a good bit of back and fourth between the home and away fans. Could hear most of the songs clearly. Home fans got louder in the last 20 minutes and, of course, after the goal.

i was at the game. we played well, controlled the game. we lost. life sucks.

one thing i wanted to say, is that i was ashamed to be a united fan on saturday. we can have all the moral outrage we want, but the idiots who sang the "the sun was right, you murderers" should be banned from the club. thankfully it wasnt everybody, but alot sung it.

liverpool fans were doing their munich taunts of course, they too should be banned. but its rich of us to complain about the racism and all that, when we sing those songs.

it was sickening to be in the police escort on the way into town and having to listen to the always look on the runway for ice, so i imagine its the same for people who were hurt by hillsborough.

2 wrongs dont make a right, i hope both clubs will stamp this out. but any united fan who sung that, should be ashamed. it doesnt make you a good fan, it makes you a c*nt. same goes for them.
