Liverpool

For all the wanking over Liverpool's form, it should be noted that in their last 6 away matches, they have gotten just five points from a possible 18. Their home fixtures in that time have included Fulham, Cardiff, West Ham and Norwich.

These 6 aways included Arsenal, Tottenham, Man. City, Hull, Newcastle and Everton. Pretty tough set of fixtures. We collected 7 points playing these lot, having played half the games at home.

Yeah and nobody is rightly wanking over our form and style of play.

They've played, including in some of the games you mentioned, the kind of football we have rarely seen from United for quite a while. It was easy to criticize their early season scrappy wins, but whether we like it or not Liverpool, Arsenal and occasionally City (at home) have played the best football this season. If we remember where they were a couple of seasons ago I can definitely see a reason for optimism there.

And by the way, I missed the Villa game but not the following wankfest here and in the press. After beating Aston fecking Villa.

Massively. Coutinho, Sturridge and Suarez look potent whilst at least one if not two of them stay fit. But Enrique being out for a while leaves Cissokho in, and with Agger shagging Rodgers' wife you've got a major issue with Sakho. Looks so, so out of his depth.
Flanagan has been deputising very well for Enrique and getting a couple of goals too. The only reason Cissokho started yesterday was down to Flanagan taking a knock. I thought defensively Sakho looks strong but makes some errors that inexperienced young defenders will make. Still the raw talent is there. Not sure how he has shown himself to be out of his depth.

Roge Madrid
The boom cycle has seemingly gone on forever this season, found out easily yesterday and all that fecking about with the ball across the back line should have and will find Liverpool looking silly soon enough.
City had to much composure and as well as Liverpool played the gulf was enormous and hugely apparent.
Bust is in motion.
Insert not sure if serious gif here.........?

Yep..watching City and Liverpool yesterday, have to say I just wish we could start playing the game like that. We are a little far away from it I'm afraid. It was a good quality match from two teams who are serious challengers for the title....

Sahko looked like he could barely stand up yesterday at times! I couldn't stop laughing at how bad he was.

I was listening to the game on 5 live so I didn't see him but the commentators didn't make a big deal of his performance one way or the other. They did say Mignolet was at fault for the second but didn't really mention Sahko.

Yea hint of irony i do admit :D
One unarguable fact though is that everything Liverpool do is through Suarez, it's all fairly average until he makes a fairly run of the mill ball into him a goal or at least an opputunity. He made a couple of golden chances to get back to 2-2 yesterday and that would have been a great result for those chasing as I fancy Liverpool to go to Chelsea and get something.
All set up for a great 2nd half of the season.

He is definitely a catalyst for the attack alright. A game changer too. Sturridge did a very good job when Suarez was suspended but all in all Suarez is the go to man for a creative spark. Coutinho has it in his locker too though and with the raw talent of Sterling and his pace they really troubled a decent city side. I think City would have struggled had Kompany not been around to sort them out defensively but then they would always miss a world class player like him.

Sakho isn't bad, he's just poor on the ball. He looks a good defender aside from his ability on the ball.

Sakho is only a problem for people who watched his crazy five against city and think that applies to his game in general. He's excellent.

Indeed. I don't know why Rodgers didn't have him on Kompany. Sakho is extremely strong so that would've come in handy.

He's not bad on the ball. He's very good on the ball technically, it's his intelligence with the ball at his feet that lets him down.

He's got a poor touch and turns really slowly. That's poor tecnhique not intelligence. If anything I think he gets the thinking right a lot of the time, it's just the execution that's poor.

3 out of the 4 top threads on the homepage are about Liverpool, the natives are getting restless.

Its the moment of dread moses. The moment everyone knew was coming but was light years away. But instead isn't light years away anymore. I recognise the symptoms, sadly.

It's the other way around. He makes good decisions, but his technique is obviously not all that. His tippi-tappy run up and angle body backwards routine he does for every basic pass is proof of that.

City was the only time he's had me concerned though. So long as he doesn't make a habit of that, he'll do fine. Certainly prefer his passing to Skrtel's.

I don't think so. His composure and technique on the ball is as good as any CB at our club, I'd argue it's better than Agger's. I don't think he thinks through what he's doing and some of the challenges he goes in for are ones that you wouldn't see a defender usually go in for.

Not even close. He's composed yes, but his technique doesn't hold a candle to Agger's.

Agger is one of my favourite players, but his technique is a wee bit overstated. It's very good, but I'd argue Sakho's (particularly his passing) matches him.

Just to break the ice a little, anyone see this on HIGNFY last night?

I don't watch all of the Liverpool games but I've seen him a fair bit this season and he's been pretty poor on the ball whenever I've watched him. He won't last at Liverpool if you're after world class defenders, because he isn't one.

Again, can you be specific? He was poor against City and arguably Swansea. Those are the only two that come to mind.

Even if what you say is correct, an opinion i certainly don't agree with, you don't have to be great on the ball to be a world class cb, what other things do you think will prohibit him for being a top class defender?
