Already said that his first priority is getting faster wingers than Mata and Lingard. Thanks for vindicating me Louis.
It's quite wonderful how you managed to contradict yourself in two sentences.Do not want to look like a "half empty glass" guy, but I do not believe that LvG has tactically improved our midfield or defense. We try to keep the ball at all costs, that is why the opposition have less chances, and that is exactly why our strikers are suffering. We are being over-safe imo. The game against Arsenal showed that our defense and midfield struggle against quality, fast opponents. Hopefully, LvG is indeed a genius and knows exactly what he is doing, however, I cant see us winning any major trophy with him in charge.
The football is different too; playing in England can develop parts of your game that might not otherwise get improved. When he was 12 or 13, Gerard Pique was introduced as Barcelona's future centre-back by his grandfather, a director at the club, to Louis van Gaal. The then-manager pushed Pique over and barked: "You're not strong enough to be a centre-back for Barcelona." Pique admits that, maybe, without the time he spent at Manchester United, Van Gaal may have been right. There, Pique says he learnt to use his body better.
his recent statement is more blunt
The reason I am happy to see that is because he booted a lot out in the summer, Welbeck, Nani who could play the wing roles but now he recognizes that we don't have enough options and that Mata isn't a winger!
His statement in his first season that we need speed and creativity on the wings is as blunt as it gets. It's important to him but he also wants quality players therefore Welbeck or Nani are not options. Until he gets that level of quality he will make do with what he has.
Welbeck doesn't fit the profile of creative winger at all so not sure why you suggested him and Nani wouldn't be starting, he has also shown he is poor when he doesn't have consistent game time so that was sensible too.
Take Young, he is hard working and can be somewhat effective off the bench, that's enough just about to keep him in the squad.
Arguably better first 1.5 seasons that SAF who I believe inherited a team that came 4th?
3 windows and he's sold the speed and creativity. he sold ADM after a season , sold nani , sold zaha and bought memphis and still plays mata as a winger. he needs to get his head sorted in regards to attacking players. he sold/parted ways with 4 strikers so far and just 3 this yr , 2 the yr before with welz sold and chich loaned , with one player coming in. so again after 3 windows he's back to where he started.

Pressure mounts for LVG. A warcry to the fans to 'get behind' the team... Moyes-esque that. Perhaps a sudden realisation that he shouldn't have been quite so ruthless in his cutting of the squad, or at least met his aggressive sacking policy with an equally aggressive purchasing policy.
I'm not a fan of Fellaini, never have been. He's an Everton midfielder. It's cringeworthy that he's actually being cited as one of Man Utd's current missing striking options while Januzaj is spectating at Dortmund. Bizarre really.
Will be another big test for LVG this weekend and as much as we should be collecting three points, with the lack of a striker on the pitch, it has 0-0 written all over it!
What's incoherent about it?What an incoherent ramble.
Isn't fellaini injured anyway?Pressure mounts for LVG. A warcry to the fans to 'get behind' the team... Moyes-esque that. Quality is also important to the manager, in fact vital.
The man wants to build one of, if not the best team in Europe, not necessarily under his tenure but as it continues to develop that's the level it will reach, it's where he thinks a club like United belong. You don't do that with players like Zaha and Nani or players that don't want to play for you.
What's incoherent about it?

It's days like today that frustrate the feck out of me with Van Gaal, every time something is going well it's as if he has this need to disrupt it for whatever reason. There was no need whatsoever to change to a back 3 today, Jones injury didn't make the change necessary, it's like he looks to fix problems where there aren't any.
We've won the game but in all honesty we've won it in spite of Van Gaal not because of.
The finishing was poor and unlucky, the passing was inaccurate, the players couldn't keep possesion at the stage of the game they needed to, counters were waisted by overplaying and passing behind the man, the referee gave a very soft penalty that should have been disallowed, the squad was plagued by injuries before and during the match and still we won the game. So lets blame the manager's tactics. It's days like today that frustrate the feck out of me with Van Gaal, every time something is going well it's as if he has this need to disrupt it for whatever reason. Yep, even then Lingard should've wrapped it up just before they got their penalty. We should have been 2 or 3 up after 60 minutes, can't blame him for missed chances.
why de gea was man of the match , thought he'd just play 4 with blind going into midf. top of the tree. ugly but effective.
Exactly, he had two chances and we had many half chances. Could have easily been a comfortable victory.Yep, even then Lingard should've wrapped it up just before they got their penalty.

Louis van Gaal signed the guy who scored the winner, or assisted if it goes down as an own goal. He has been training this team for over a season now, the reason we won is because of Louis van Gaal and his staff.
